Valerie shot her with vervain. It stung Caroline, but she didn't scream at all.
"What?" Valerie was horrified. "How did you..?"
"I am a vampire taking vervin for almost two decades, Valerie! So, no…it doesn't hurt."
"I will…."
"What happened next?" Caroline ignored her.
"The spell went so wrong when I heard that the both of you were bound in holy matrimony." Valerie explained, "And when he saw Katherine…the spell slowly affected him."
"Slowly?"
"Yes, slowly." Valerie shrugged. "Stefan definitely had a chance to come back to you and explain everything."
"What…?" Caroline didn't know what to say.
"Either you break off your marriage with him." Valerie ignored her, "Or…"
"Or what?" Caroline asked, defensively.
"I will kill you." Valerie said simply. "But first, I will infuse the rest of the cure from Katherine into him."
"What will happen to James?" Jade demanded.
"Nobody cares."
"I care!" Caroline and Jade shouted together.
"The only way you can get the hell out of this place…" Valerie told her, "If a person from the Original family comes to take out the compulsion, since Stefan has a mind-block."
"Okay…" Caroline said, thinking.
"And, you can't even find an Original at this point." She shrugged. "It's like it's a story to scare kids now."
"Seriously?" Caroline laughed. "Where have you been?"
She laughed louder. "Oh, right….Locking your daughter away."
Valerie stared at Caroline.
"The whole Original family lives in their family in New Orleans." Caroline told her.
"Do you know the Original family?" Valerie gagged.
"Oh, do you mean if I know Freya the Original witch?" Caroline raised her eyebrows. "Or Kol, or Elijah, or Rebekah? Or Hayley Marshall…."
"The mother of the…."
"Exactly." Caroline continued. "Or if I have Hope Mikaelson as a student? Or do I get invitations to dinner from the Original Hybrid himself?"
"Really?" Valerie's eyes widened. "You are lying!"
"I think I might have a letter right here!" Caroline told her as she felt around her pocket.
"I will get that!" Valerie took the paper from her pocket. She opened it,
"To Caroline,
It's been ages since you came over, I know it usually because you have some business in New Orleans, but I have a proposition. One of the landowners is selling a vast land as he is bankrupt (Funny how that happens.) I have secured the place for you to look at. It is thrice the size of the present Salvatore School, perhaps you would like it since you are always saying that Mystic Falls is too small a town for your school now. This may be just the thing to get you to move to New Orleans.
I will be waiting here. However long it takes.
Klaus Mikaelson."
It had the official Mikaelson crest on it.
"Told you," Caroline shrugged. "I am everywhere, bitch. You can't keep me here for long."
"It's been two months, Caroline." Valerie told her.
"Then, you have more to fear!" Caroline told her calmly. "I RSVPed yes to that invitation and the Mikaelsons know I abide by my word, always."
"Why hasn't.."
"And Klaus Mikaelson will not rest till he finds me!" Caroline cut Valerie off.
She had no idea if Klaus was looking for her. She hadn't had a chance to reply to the letter. She didn't know if anyone would ever come. It was a shot she had thrown in the dark. Little did she know that it had hit the bull's eye.
