Chapter 45 -- Is here

The time was already around 7pm so the sun had set a while ago. Only a few people where still out on the streets of Rion. These people where mostly merchants who where closing up shop for the day.

"I will be in our room" 'Lex' announced before quickly walking away, leaving Linda and Laura behind.

"Let's go to the hall, that's most likely where the team is" Laura stated with a sigh as she walked towards the large building.

'What even happened to Adam anyway ? ' she thought ' Most likely they got overwhelmed by the rank two lions, but Lex showed insane fighting skills against the spiders. I refuse to believe that he would let Adam die, no matter how outnumbered they where they could have at least escaped.' these thoughts continued to ravage Laura's mind. She could not even hear Linda who was calling for her.

'And where did all the beasts go ?, they could not have retreated after killing only Adam. Why did they let Lex live?. Or maybe he killed them all !? but that's impossible how could he fail to protect Adam while he was alive but manage to protect his body after he is dead , and since when was Lex stronger that Adam anyway??'

'I didn't even see Adam's wounds, his blood was there but there weren't any physical wounds on his body. Could he have suffered an internal injury? If that was the case though there should only be blood around his orifices but most of the dried blood was centered on his chest'

"Laura!?"

'Speaking if injuries, Lex also looked completely fine. The only blood on his body belonged to Adam. Could he have fought all those beasts without suffering any sort of injury whatsoever ?? that's impossible '

Laura felt like her head was about to burst open, she had many more theories about what happened to her best student but she feared covering them all would leave her insane.

"Laura Lane !!" Linda had resorted to straight up shouting in a low voice to avoid waking people up. She was about to slap Laura on the back of her head when...

"Yeah....what is it ?" Laura naturally replied to Linda.

"I have been trying to get your attention for the last 5 minutes you know " Linda said with her arms crossed and pouted lips. The sight caused Laura to release a laugh as she thought Linda looked quite cute.

"Oh sorry hun my mind was occupied" Laura said with a smile which completely contradicted her inner turmoil. "What did you want to ask ?" she questioned

"What's gonna happen now ? regarding our mission that is."

"We are going back home as soon as possible we still have not found the leader and the fact that this pack has multiple rank two beasts means that the leader is more powerful. I should have called off the mission as soon as Lex found all those rank two lions. I pushed the mission even when it was clearly above us. Adam is dead and it's all my fault" Laura said as tears started falling from her eyes, which she quickly wiped off as they entered the hall.

As soon as they entered, they found Tina, Jennifer, Michael and Mia waiting for them, everyone looked worried.. except for Mia who seemed to be there out of obligation.

"What happened ? where are they ? you where gone for two hours "Tina said. Laura and Linda could fly so it shouldn't have taken that long to come back to the village. That's whey everyone was worried, they could feel that something was wrong.

Back at the boys room Xen had just placed Adam gently on the bed. Before he could even rest his body and relax Adam started shaking, causing Xen to raise an eyebrow in slight surprise.

{I thought you said it would only happen after 24 hours} Lex said from the mind space as he witnessed the black stuff come out of Adam's orifices.

{Nope..... i said it will happen in the next 24 hours not after 24 hours} Xen corrected.

Lex just rolled his eyes and waited for his brother to finish the evolution.

About ten minutes after the seizures started Adam's bones began their reconstruction together with all his internal organs, his lungs also turned white... but no one could see this of course. Suddenly Xen jumped and picked up a pillow on his side and put it over Adam's mouth in slight panic.

{What are you doing!} Lex shouted as he prepared to take back control of the body.

{Relax a little will ya I'm just covering for...} Before Xen could finish talking a muffled roar was heard, which then turned into a scream before Adam abruptly sat up in panic as he touched around his chest area.

He then hit Xen with a punch to the face before jumping off the bed and running to a corner of the room on all fours. Adam hissed and growled while frantically looking around, he really looked like a bonafide magical beast.

Lex didn't waste time and immediately took back control of his body.

"Adam ! bro can you hear me!?" Lex called out but Adam seemed to be unable to hear him as he continued to look around.

"Adam it's me your Flame brother" Adam seemed to react to those words as Lex saw his yes focusing and he suddenly thought about a little joke.

"Adam Tina is here for you" Lex said while trying to suppress a smile. By this point Adam had already stood up and started rubbing his eyes.

"Wow it's like the name 'Tina' is your activation code or something." Lex joked with a laugh, he was overjoyed to see his brother back.

"What the fuck happened!!" Adam screamed. His mind was still having some trouble putting the pieces together. The last thing he remembered seeing was the ground beneath him zooming past in extreme speed untill everything went dark

His eyes instinctively went to his chest and he saw the state of his uniform. It served as proof to Adam that what happened to him was definitely not a dream.

"I will explain everything later bro right now we need to go and stop Laura from telling everyone that you are dead" Lex said as he made his way to the door. Adam in hot pursuit with a new shirt in hand.

At the village hall.

Laura was still thinking of how to break the news to the team.

"Miss Laura where is Adam!?"Tina half shouted

"I'm sorry Tina, A...Ad...Adam is---"

"Right here and more handsome than ever ! wat up people !!"

He said while walking in with a hop in his step a large smile on his face, his hands outstretched to the on-the-verge-of-crying Tina.
