Chapter 19 -- System Unlocked

Laura looks at Lex crying with mixed emotions. She wanted to push Lex for more answers and to ask how he knew so much about magical beasts, but she decided against the idea. Laura knew about what happened to Lex's parents and thought Lex was somehow still traumatized by the event. She sometimes forgets how young her students are.

After contemplating about what to do she decided to just believe Lex. His getting drugs from another student was a far fetched story but it was also the most plausible. There was no other explanation to Lex's sudden strength.

"Do you know his name or his class" Laura asked with concern.

'Thank God' Lex thought ' It seemed she bought my lie' He was relieved that he managed to avoid disaster. He vowed to himself to be more careful from then onwards in order to keep his secret.

"No , didn't even see his face he was wearing a mask. I met him when i was walking home and i only know that he us a second year because i recognized his uniform" He replied while wiping off his fake/real tears with his sleeve.

Laura furrowed her brows as she was deep in thought , but since she already told herself that she would believe Lex, she put her doubts at the back of her mind.

"It's ok don't worry about it i won't tell anyone. Just promise me you won't do it again ok? You will never be alone we will always be here for you" She consoled with a mother's love in her voice.

"Thank you Ms Laura" Lex said

"I told you guys to call me Laura. Now go call your team and meet me at that tent over there" Laura said with a smile while pointing at a large tent not too far away.

Lex smiled before walking back to Adam.

"What was that all about" Adam asked as soon as Lex sat back down.

"It was nothing, don't worry about it." Lex brushed him off

"I saw you crying dude. You never cry , I have known you for too long. I understand you might be hiding stuff from others but i am your brother you can tell me anything." Adam said with a firm resolve.

"Laura is calling for us at that tent , you go tell Mike and Jenny i will get Linda and Tina." Lex ignored Adam as he walked in the direction of the two girls. Adam was almost speechless as he stared at Lex's back. He thought that Lex was still upset about his parents but was too proud to say it.

{Angela ?}

{Yes Lex ?}

{I want to tell Adam} he confessed to his AI

{As long as you trust him its ok. It's your life , your secret} Angela replied.

{Aren't you gonna tell me that it's not a good idea ? , that it would ruin my life ?}

{Do you want me to say that Lex ? .I was programmed to help you not to control you and tell you what to do. I will only interfere when your life is in danger or when you make a decision that will endanger your life} Angela said in a serious tone.}

{The truth is that you need someone to talk to. Someone who will support you. Your journey is long Lex and if you keep everything to yourself you will go insane.} Angela wisely said.

Lex decided to tell Adam everything after those wise words. He knew that he could trust Adam so what was the worst that could happen ?.This is who he was and he had to accept that he was no longer human.

All of a sudden the system screen appeared in Lex's vision on it's own , greatly startling him in the process.

A barrage of notifications showed themselves to Lex. He then felt a wave of strength filling his body , although it was too small to make a difference. He stood there staring at the messages in surprise , excitement and anxiousness.

The first thing he saw was that he apparently completed a hidden quest. Lex didn't even know that the system gave quests , but because of completing that quest he got five extra points to all his stats , which made him really happy as he always wondered how he would raise his strength.

The other reward from completing the hidden quest was that the system got fully unlocked. Lex didn't understand what this exactly meant.

{Angela , does this mean that the system was not unlocked this whole time ?} he asked the only being that might have the answer.

{The system was kind of limited before , but now it is fully under your control and you can also now do quests in order to grow} The AI answered.

Lex then focused on the cause of why he was excited to see the notifications. The system states that Lex unlocked a new skill. Acquiring the more powerful skills was not easy at all , so Lex was happy to get one for free.

The system explanation of his new skill was pretty straight forward and Lex wanted to try it out. Before he could though he heard Angela's voice.

{Bad idea}She said.

That's when Lex read over the skill description again and realized the mistake he almost made

'My whole team would be affected by the skill if i activate it here' he thought.

He then decided to try it out one day when he is alone.

'Become a rank 2 Cultivator....' Lex murmured as he read the screen.

{Angela how do i become a rank 2 Cultivator ?} he asked

{By Cultivating or completing quests of course}

{But right now the only quest i have is to become rank 2} Lex said ,both confused and annoyed

{Ohh yah here you go} Angela announced before another screen popped up in Lex's view.
