I stare at her, filled with shocked disbelief. First, she tells me she’s some sort of shapeshifting werewolf, and Jenna, a girl I’ve known all my life, is a freaking witch. My head spins, or is it the world?
Now, Anyra tells me that I’m her MATE? What does that even mean?
Noticing my panicked look, Anyra explains further.
“Shifters, most shifters at least, have a mate, like a soulmate, existing somewhere in the world. They are our other half. We are drawn to them through strong supernatural forces. If a shifter is lucky enough to find their mate, they form the Bonding.”
“Bonding?” I ask through trembling lips.
“The Bonding is what binds the two mates together forever. They become joined by both body and soul. Some even can sense each other’s thoughts and feelings. That’s why you’ve been feeling the things you have.”
“You’re saying that I’m attracted to you only because some supernatural force is telling me to?”
“More or less, yes,” she says.
