CHAPTER 4

"Dad "I called while eating breakfast ,dad had made breakfast again and it seemed weird considering the fact that he was always gone before we were even up , since Monday up till now dad had been in the house without going anywhere ,something was wrong and I could sense it .

"Yes hun" he answered taking a sip of his coffee

"Aren't you supposed to be at work considering you are the owner of a law firm or you being the owner gives you the right to skip work for a whole week?" I asked

"I don't feel like going to work today"he said looking uneasy and I knew it something was wrong

"Mike's coming home tonight "my dad said . My big brother Michael was in his last year of uni and took a semester off , why did he take a semester off? !what was going on? !why was he rushing back home? I didn't understand he had some explaining to do when he comes back home tonight I thought .

"Why did he take the semester off ?"Jason asked voicing my thoughts

"Yeah why ?"I also asked

"I don't know Steph" my dad said while draining his cup of coffee

"We'll wait to see what he says "

I got up going out to wait for Luke .

The winter dance was tomorrow and no one had asked me to be their date ,I wasn't actually expecting someone to ask me so...........

I didn't even have a dress to wear , I was actually planning on not going , but Crystal kept telling me I needed to go for some unknown reasons , she wanted me to go but I didn't want to , I just wanted to watch some K-drama or read a book on watt pad or get some sleep . The other day her boyfriend Scott had asked her to be his date so she wanted to drag me along with her after the close of school to go shopping with her which I didn't want to .

I pushed my thoughts aside when I heard the car honk , it was Luke he was coming to pick me up. My car had some problems so I had to take it to the mechanic .

"Jason "I yelled walking towards the car ,

"Coming "he yelled back running through the front door and jumping into the car

"What have I told you kids about shouting ?" My dad said standing at the front door

I pretended to think and said "hmmmm nothing?"

"Hi John " Luke said while waving to my dad

"Luke , how are you?"

"Am good " "See you later son"

"Bye dad" Jason and I yelled while Luke drove away . I was pretty sure my dad was going to end up in Luke's house by the end of the day .

We walked into school while Jason and Luke were catching up , Luke was pretty much like a brother to the family ,he was there to sometimes fill the void Mike left anytime he went to school .

When Jason went to meet his friends Luke turned to me and asked

" Nothing special happen lately right?"

I nodded and said "I think it was just a coincidence , I don't think it's gonna happen again "

Crystal had just materialized listening to Luke's and I 's conversation as we stood by our lockers

"Hey girl " she said dumping her books into her locker

"Seems like someone's watching you "she said , nudging me to look , it was the new guy . I turned away scratching my wrist it had started to itch again , I rubbed it really hard but gently too ,in order not to bleed,it was then that I looked at it and realized that in the circle a small faint star had began to appear in the center of the four that was drawn together .

Can your birthmark grow with you ? I thought and lifted my head up to see that Adam was no longer in sight .

Okay, that was just weird I thought .

"Stephanie , are you alright? your wrist is turning red......"Luke asked

"Yh am alright " I said "but I gotta get to class "I said , Luke had a worried look on his face I squeezed his arm telling him not to worry and hurried away to class waving bye to Crystal who was texting on her phone with a smile on her face .

This morning we had maths and our teacher thankfully was Miss Buena vista or as she liked to be called Miss Lucy ,she was a good teacher far better than Mr Brown who taught Crystal's class .

Unfortunately for me though Brittany was in my class which stopped me from enjoying the class like I should have .

You know that feeling you get when someone's watching you and it's like if they had a chance they could strangle you to death or walk up from behind you with an hammer or crowbar in their hand and use it to wack you into a coma or quite possibly death ..............Yeah , that was the exact same feeling I felt when the class had started till it ended .

Immediately it ended I rushed out of the class still feeling the same way until I was a safe distance away from the class .

School went on as usual lunch was the same me with the boys and Crystal but Adam never sat with us again , no he was hardly around when it came to lunch time , when lunch was over I saw Adam having a heated argument with a guy who was sitting on the hood of a Ferrari my mouth hung open at the site of the car so did the mouth of the boys even Crystal's phone almost slipped out of her hand emphasis almost but it didn't .

Even Brittany stopped and was looking at the car the two guys by the car and the car itself were all beautiful With all the attention garnered the guy on the hood jumped of , smiled at me , got into the car and drove off .

Wait a minute smiled at me ???

School was over and I was walking out with Crystal when a hand held me back I turned to see who it was it was Adam .

"Um ...I've been wanting to ask you " he muttered rubbing his hand on his neck looking at me awkwardly I glanced around to see Crystal smiling at me

"Will you go to the winter dance with me?"
