Shadow slave: In The Eye of The Beholder

In the cluttered and putrid place of the outskirts, a man lay in one of the many alleyways. A tiredness overtook him as the nightmare spell began its work, pulling him away from this world and its troubles. Another death sentence on his frail form, already stricken by sickness long before. His desires, hopes, and aspirations left unfulfilled, destined to vanish like smoke before the eternal rest ahead. His cloudy grey eyes gazed up towards the lights beyond his reach—the more fortunate, living and existing without worry, enjoying the life that was thrust upon them. He cursed his existence, his place, a mere bump in the road of destiny, a single thread in the vast weave of fate. For a moment, the drowsiness lifted, replaced by determination that filled his broken body. He would make them know—not just of him, but of all the people forgotten in the rubble known as the outskirts. With one final proclamation, the spell took him. Who knew how far his desire would take him? _________________________________________________________________ "With every flap of a butterfly's wings it affects the wind surrounding it, tornados can be made in its wake from just coincidence. and with a swarm of these delicate creatures. even the earth can shake."-Thicc-potato_6372 (2024)

Shadow Slave: In The Eye of The Beholder(chap9) Response

With The terrors suggestion still hanging in the air, Silas looked at the trio and then to the ceiling of the castle above him, as if trying to see the faint image of the beholder that lay blocked by it.

And answered,

"Well, Beholder, I would say that you're a divine being for a reason, because in relation to trying to make the hopeless people happy, you're stupidly incompetent, you're just bringing them into a lull of joy and then snuffing the life out of them, killing the people who had just regained hope for their existence".

Disgust and sneer being written on his face, as he placed his palm on his chest and stares into the ceiling.

"You gave me hope from my hopeless life and expect me to die a dogs death in forgiveness? to be extinguished before I can experience anymore of the joy I had just felt. To ignore my existence once vanquished and repeat the cycle with another person. I don't care that you feel sad for the people of modern times, did I ask for it? did anyone of the people before asking for it!?

"I didn't ask to be pitied, I've seen people give me those looks before, the little street rat in the corner, the sad little kid who you hope would die in a more convenient corner, so you didn't have to look at it?

Silas clenched in his jaw and screamed out to the distant divinity.

"If that's the case, FUCK YOU! I don't need your pity, I don't need your forgiveness, AND I DONT NEED YOUR BLESSING! What I need is to get out of this CURSED nightmare!"

His throat stinging as he stared death into the three people in front of him. The uncle, the terror, and the noble. Defiance emerging like an all-consuming blaze is his presence a devilish grin emerging in his irritable expression.

"Just let me kill the three bastards you've been puppeteering, put them out of the misery you've bespelled upon there fake souls, and let me end the endless loop you've created.

Silas spoke again, taking in the rage that the trio emanated from their bodies, ignoring the holes bored into him by their eyes.

"Let me beat, your nightmare" Silas proclaimed, his voice echoing through the halls, with only silence taking its place.

The roof of the castle starting to fade before being evaporated, the dust cascading down and peppering the inhabitants of the castle, sending Silas into a coughing fit, looking up to the phenomena.

What he saw was once again the beholder. fulfilling the emptiness of the once blue sky with its golden eye, the abyssal black pupil staring directly down at the puny mortals below it, the endless weave of strings weaving in and out of its body, creating a figure eight that expanded ever further.

The endless void of the irises contained a web of strings that folded in on each other forever, the very soul of Silas trying to escape its mortal vessel and fly up to the afterlife, to just to get the tiniest bit closer and observe the kaleidoscope of threads.

A deep rumbling voice emerged from every direction.

[..VERY WELL ASPIRANT, IF THE INDIVIDUALS OF THE SPELL ARE KILLED YOU MAY EXIT]

Shaking the very foundation of the castle, causing a miniature earthquake within the fort, causing Silas to have trouble retaining his balance as he listens to the almighty presence.

One that he just cursed out.

[TO THE BEINGS OF THE SPELL, YOU MAY ALSO EXIT. JUST KILL EVERYONE ELSE HERE, HAVING ANY MORE THAN ONE OF YOU ESCAPE IS UNACCEPTABLE, A DISGRACE TO MY LEGACY]

The beholders pupil shrinking further. the deity's voice almost mocking in tone.

[IN REGARD TO MY BLESSINGS, COCKY CHILD, INSIDOUS MONSTER, IF YOU DESPISE ME, THEN EXPERIENCE THE WORLD WITHOUT ME, YOUR KIND KNOWS NOT OF SOMETHING BEFORE IT IS GONE]

The pupil shifting slightly, looking directly at Silas.

[LET ME OBSERVE WHAT YOU ARE WITHOUT MY BLESSINGS BEFORE THE AWAKENED INFRONT OF YOU MORTAL]

With one final proclamation, the eye vanished, the emptiness of the blue sky appearing in its absence.

Silas feeling a light that he had never noticed being taken from his very soul, as well as a restriction.

In the damaged banquet of the hall, until a sudden scream broke the silence.

The terror was screaming out in pain, monstrous masses of wet flesh bulging from her head, splitting open to reveal an array of putrid teeth. Her scream of dismay being drowned out as the flesh overflowing topples her form, The putrid mass causing her to collapse, before encompassing her form, the added growth wriggling around the dusty floors.

The Beholder had not only blessed Silas but had touched the terror with sanity.

Without out.

She was just a monster.

The mass of flesh forming into a towering slug, wheat emerging like hair from its grotesque surfaces, quickly weaving around and encapsulating the meat like a basket.

The pulsating mass still beating past and emerging from some of the holes in the weaved crops, gallons of visceral mucus flooding out of the numerous folds in the flesh. the mucus drowning the creature before rising it up, the mucus pushing the creature into the air, hovering a couple feet above the dining table.

The abominations head emerging in all of its horrific glory, the two eye sockets being bloomed by dreary branches, each leaf holding an ethereal horror in their stems. its mouth parting from the flesh, gooey and riddled with teeth that filled its mouth like shrapnel.

The scream of the terror rang out again, sounding like the womans before but distorted to its limit, the high pitch scraping against Silas's ears.

The room erupted into chaos, the terror's monstrous form now fully unleashed, a grotesque blend of writhing mucus and gnashing teeth. Silas staggered back, his mind reeling as tendrils of slime lashed out with destructive force, shattering furniture, obliterating windows, and decimating the mindless servants in their path.

The noble and his uncle barely managed to dodge the deadly onslaught, the remnants of their humanity replaced by sheer survival instinct. But as Silas's eyes darted around the carnage, he realized with a sinking dread that there was nowhere left to run.

Other than one option.

So, he bolted for it, his feat carrying him past the mayhem and out to the sanctity of the outside.

through a broken window.

The support of the ground disappearing.

'ah shit' Silas sighed.

His frail body succumbing to gravity's whims.
