Chapter 16- Dazzai.

"I'm pairing everyone in twos for my next assignment," The woman raised her voice as she paraded round the classroom, walking past each row but her gaze remaining fixed ahead.

"Each team is given a unique topic to do a research on and two weeks from now, on a Thursday like this, you'll stand in front of everyone and present. I will mark you according to your presentation and content. Take note that this assignment takes half of your first test. So if you ace, consider your first test dusted."

She reached the desk and pulled out her Notebook, calling out names according to how she paired them in the book. Some were happy about it, and others didn't like it at all.

"Zaire and Dazzline-"

"What?!" Dazzline exclaimed, her face screwing up in anger and disgust. She and that he-goat working together? Hell naw!

The teacher paused and turned to face her with raised brows. "Is there a problem, Ms Dazzline?'

"Uh, yeah! I do not want to be paired with," She turned and pointed at Zaire Williams, her mouth twisted in a sneer as as she spat the words, "that!"

Zaire chuckled dryly, offended and irritated. " I do not want to work with you too, witch!" They both glared at one another and their friends and classmates stared back and forth between the two, feeling as though they were in the middle of a battlefield.

"Well that's too bad. You two will have to learn to put your differences aside and work together."

"Next! Fayth Martins and Izaak D'angelis."

"Umm" My eyes widened at the mention of my name next to `his`. The guy I'd been trying to avoid all week. I was convinced this woman was a trouble seeking woman. First she paired Dazzline with her rival, now she was pairing me with my crush, the guy I'm so desperately trying to avoid. After my conversation with my friends, I had decided keeping my feelings for Izaak D'angelis would only end up wounding me. I was not ready for a heartbreak, and I also was not ready to go against my rules.

He sat there looking so unbothered and effortlessly gorgeous. He had earphones on and his eyes on his phone, doing his thing like everyone else. I stared at him like a creep, longing for him to look up and stare back at me.

He looked so god-damned good in his uniform, I took notice of.

"Why do you keep staring at Izaak?" I flinched, unaware of fact that Dazzline and Aaliyah were watching me. How long had they been watching me watch him? Gawd. Let the ground just swallow me now.

"She fancies him." Aaliyah chuckled. Dazzline raised an eyebrow at me.

"Do you like him?" She questioned. I thought about Sunday morning and couldn't help but blush. They gasped.

"You like him! OMG." She started hitting me on the shoulder with an excited grin. Aaliyah frowned.

"You just had to fall for Izaak D'angelis, of all people." Now it was my turn to frown.

what does that mean?

"What do you mean by that?" Dazz spoke my mind, facing Aaliyah with a bemused expression.

"I mean, everyone knows how Izaak is. He acts like a dead man, he's mean and so cold-"

"Now you're mean, liyah." Dazz interjected. "Just because he's not a chatterbox like the two of us, likes to stay on his own 99 percent of the time, and is quiet, doesn't make him....what you call him. Calling him a dead man is just...." she trailed off.

"Mean." I finished for her. Aaliyah crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.

"I don't want you getting hurt, that's all." She turned to face me. "He seems like that kind of guy that'll not only break your heart, he'll fix it then squeeze it , trample it on the ground, step on it, run it over-"

"That's enough, Aaliyah! Ahan!! " Dazzline exclaimed, hitting her on the arm and pulling her down to her lap. They were both giggling, but I didn't join them. I bit my lip, my heart hammering in my chest and my eyes stinging. I felt something in there.

Something painful. Like a prick in my chest.

I'd be lieing if I said what Aaliyah said didn't affect me. It did. It made me sad, and hurt. Would Izaak really do such a thing to me if I told him about my feelings? I'd ask myself.

Wait, hold up girl. I shook my head erasing such thoughts from my head. It was just a silly crush. It'd go away in no time.

No boys, no drama, remember? My subconsciousness reminded me and I frowned.

I have to stay far away from him as possible if I want my feelings to disappear.

Zaire Williams walked out of the biology lab in the afternoon with his friends, Daryn and Angel. He had a smile on his face as they talked amoung themselves, a smile that soon turned into a scowl as he watched the annoying girl make her way towards them. The bane of his existence. Dazzline Makena.

"Your place or mine." Zaire stared at her as if she had offered him poison.

"Excuse me?"

"For the essay project, idiot!"

"Watch it." He growled, stepping forward to stand face to face with her. He glared at her but she didn't seem fazed.

"We're not doing it at my house."

"Okay, fine then, come over to my place after school today." She shrugged. He scowled.

"Do not tell me what the fuck to do." He gritted through his teeth. "And no way in hell am I doing that."

Dazzline sighed loudly. "Can you stop being immature for once in your life, Williams and fucking decide?!"

"Why don't you guys just meet up in a cafe or something." Daryn offered softly. Dazzline eyed him, not making her displeasure towards him subtle.

"Fine then. Yum Cafe, 4pm this evening. Do not even try to be late."

"Who the fuck do you think you're commanding me like that?" Angel rubbed his temples as the two began arguing back and forth once more. He was getting sick of watching these two argue almost everytime they bumped into each other.

"You can really feel the sexual tension between them." Daryn failed at whispering.

"Ew no!" Dazzline's face screwed up in disgust.

"Don't ever say that nonsense again." Zaire scowled at his friend. "She's not my type."

Dazzline scoffed. " Don't get ahead of yourself you're not my type either. I don't go for trash." She gave him a sarcastic smile. Zaire growled, raising his hands and positioning it to her neck but not really touching her. Dazzline rolled her eyes and turned around, intentionally whipping him in the face with her long braids.

"Hashtag, Dazzai." Daryn whispered to Angel whom quickly covered his laughter with a cough.

"Don't let him hear you, fool."
