It's funny how quickly you can acclimate to warmer climates in general. It's much easier than acclimating to cooler climates. I grew up somewhere with a higher-than-average snowfall each winter, with temperatures that range from mildly cold, to absolutely fucking freezing. After spending only a couple of months in the southern US and suddenly the Uber from the airport in Portland Maine seems like I'm driving through a different world. Something akin to a Siberian Winter is how my mind sees the scene before me. An alien world. Somewhere that I don't belong anymore, as though I ever really did.
