Prologue

It was like a living hell.

The world in which she was trapped felt like a void.

There were mountains overlooking a sunset. There were trees around the small cabin which had all the necessary items and a stream flowing nearby. And, if she tried, she could capture a few hunting beasts instead of fish and have a good meal. There were flowers and fruit trees all around the valley and it was basked and covered in certain peace that could never be found anywhere else.

Then why, she wondered.

Why did it feel so empty?

She had done the right thing. She had listened to her friends and stayed here in that valley and she hadn't dared to step her foot outside that translucent veil that covered the valley.

And yet... when they didn't come back, when she realised that they would never come back, she had felt this empty space inside her chest grow. The emotions of pain and sorrow were long gone and she only wanted to go on living like a robot.

Wake up. Find food. Bathe. Eat food. Hunt. Take care of plants. Eat food. Hunt. Sleep. Repeat.

This was her daily routine. She wished she would feel exhausted continuing this routine. She wished she could feel something, anything at all....even boredom would be blissful to her now.

But the emotions didn't come back.

'And perhaps it never will', she thought that night as she stared at the campfire. 'Maybe this was punishment. Punishment for not going after her friends. Punishment for leaving them'

As she blamed herself for the 20th time that day, something fell through the night.

Something with pointed ears, sleek skin and a shiny tail. It's silver eyes glowed as it fell downwards from the night sky. Anyone could've easily dismissed it as a shooting star that passed the veil and disintegrated. But that shooting star passed through it, it broke the centuries old veil covering the entire valley.

At first there was the unending silence which had spread throughout the valley.

And then the chaos began.
