No More Hiding

She struck the rabbit with a strong uppercut as it charged her straight on, sending it up into the air. It squealed and she quickly followed up by putting her gauntlets together and swinging them overhead once the rabbit came in range.

Her strike sent it straight into the ground and she continued with her fast and heavy hits, never giving it a chance to recover. Unlike Jax who would've realized this was a hidden feature of combat the devs put in, she only fought like it was natural. Something she may have done if she had the strength in the real world.

She yelled until her throat hurt and threw punches out in quick succession like she was an anime character. Tears came down her face as she fought away her pain not caring for the slight cracks that appeared on the Old Gauntlets.

She had continued pounding the ground without realizing the golden rabbit was long dead. Once she had let out her frustrations, she looked at the notifications.

"Oh! Awesome! I did something good right? I hope Jax praises me." Her cheeks turned pink as she giggled. She didn't know exactly what all these things meant but knew they were important. She looked at the golden blood for a while. It looked red but when she moved it, it would change gold slightly.

She stored it in her inventory. She wasn't as interested in this stuff as Jax would be so she saved it for the next time they met. She hadn't reached level 13 yet but could care less. The mystery gift was more important!

She quickly opened it up and got sucked into the dancing present and quickly swiped all the cards when they popped up. She came out a couple of minutes later with some new stuff. She wore a new pair of uncommon boots that gave her more speed. She had an earring that boosted mana regen and a shield she put away. She now had the most important item for a tank... after she changed to a new, non-tank class.

Her mystery item was a skill.

She didn't know exactly how good it was, but she saw rare so assumed it was great! She then immediately sent a message to Jax telling him about what she got. She patently waited for a reply even though it took him almost 20 minutes.

She bit her lip and blushed. She had to take a second to keep from getting wet but she was better than she used to be. She noticed it too but it just made her like Jax more since he was the reason for this change.

She quickly paled as she remembered late about the bleed effect. She was lucky enough that it ended once the bunny died but she was on low health. She had used all her potions so she just had to hope no one was waiting to ambush her.

She looked once more around the area before leaving. She made her way back to town and luckily wasn't stopped by guards. She went over to Timold's workshop and strutted over to the Dwarf. There were players bothering him, but not as much as it had been a while ago.

The dwarf's eyes lit up when he spotted her and he began yelling at the crowd to leave. Many of the players started paying attention and analyzed her. Some immediately left to go tell others while some tried to crowd around her.

Even though analyze only showed ID and level for players, the name "Sucky Succie" was famous after she got the first two achievements of the game.

Once at the back of the shop, Timold handed her the new Gauntlets. They were much smaller and less bulky but the stats were much better.

Adrianna's eyes sparkled and she jumped on the dwarf to hug him. He was surprised and blushed a little while awkwardly scratching his cheek.

"Alright little lady, that's enough. Just give me back the Old Gauntlets and we will consider it paid." Timold was weak to compliments and as such a sweet girl, Adrianna was able to get a good discount. Unfortunately, it wasn't good for her.

Her face paled and she immediately bowed at a 45 degree angle.

"I'm so very sorry! I wasn't paying attention and cracks started forming on it. I didn't mean for it to happen but I got distracted. I promise to pay double, no triple what it costs and I'll do whatever I can to repay your kindness!"

Adrianna teared up again and Timold was kind of shocked.

'Even though they are old and outdated, there shouldn't be anything in this area that can break them. I would know since I used them to take out all the stronger monsters.' Timold was curious as to how she managed to break them.

As the high level NPC in this area, his backstory was him retiring to the countryside and he decided to clear out the surroundings of high-level monsters to better protect the village. He had even used the old gauntlets to take them out, yet they didn't break.

Timold sighed and pretended to be angry. He still didn't want to let her off easy as he said they would have to pay if they broke it. It was unfortunate that the first-ever piece he made as a blacksmith was destroyed, but as a member of the blacksmith community, and a dwarf, his items were meant to be used until their time was up.

The Old Gauntlets had lasted a long time so it was bound to happen, he just didn't think she could break them unless...

With a half-hearted angry face, he demanded, "I said you break it, you buy it so you won't be allowed to leave until I get my money's worth. Let me see the Gauntlets."

Adrianna nodded sheepishly at his serious tone and took out the cracked Gauntlets. The Dwarf held the metal fists in his hands as his mechanical monocle appeared in front of his eye. His eyes widened as he saw bluish-black vein-like lines of mana flowing through the cracks in the Gauntlets.

'Well, I'll be...' Timold was truly surprised this time. He narrowed his eyes at Adrianna like he was focusing on something. She felt nervous and uncomfortable as he was practically staring into her soul.

"I-!!!" She was about to explain herself when she found her concealment came off!
