Chapter 11

Taking her stethoscope, she placed it on Selom's belly and observed it silently. But listening to it she felt strange, but she couldn't jump to conclusion yet and she didn't want to startle Selom and Teresa " I hear a normal heart beat" she smiled lovingly.

Hearing this Teresa and Selom were overjoyed. "Now I have nothing to worry about". After chatting up on old times, Clara was still very worried. Sometimes the whole pregnancy process could be very difficult to handle when one has no partner. But she didn't know how Selom would cope with all this, and she couldn't tell this to her friend. She didn't want to frighten them. First things first, they had to sort out the issues of her pregnancy.

"Selom darling, can you please go home? Your mom and I have something we need to attend to" Clara said, giving her a warm smile.

" No problems, Auntie, I will be on my way now. (Smiling) it was really nice meeting you again" she said, moving closer to give her a warm hug. " Mom, I would be going to the office then after that I would go home"

"Darling remember that you are not alone now, you have a child to care for and don't overwork yourself okay. And remember to get something good to eat, you just heard what your god-mother said? You need a lot of rest and food too. Your baby's lack of growth could be as a result of malnutrition." Teresa said sounding very worried

(Sigh)" Okay mom, I heard you, I wouldn't starve myself at all I promise. Auntie I would be on my way now" she said waving her a goodbye

"Yes darling, be very careful and please drive safely and also remember to take good care of yourself. I would come visiting you at the house very soon"

"Okay, sure you're always welcome. Before I forget Auntie, Congrats on your son's upcoming wedding"

"Awww, you're such a sweetheart, it's still 6 months ahead, but thanks for the wishes. You're not like your mom, she isn't happy with the news"

(Laughing) " Auntie you know that's not true, the whole pregnancy news was a shock to her, I'm just trying to accept things the way they are. Mom means well, I don't want to delay you guys so I am leaving" Picking up her bag, she gave them a hug one more time and left.

"Take good care of yourself," Clara said loudly. Leaving her voice to echo through the office, she smiled because she knew Selom had heard her words. Since Selom had gone, both women were now very quiet. They were filled with a lot of thoughts.

"We need to hold an urgent meeting with the hospital's board. This is a serious matter" Clara said seriously, she had a frown on her face, she wasn't happy at all.

"This is a very serious matter indeed, I was very surprised when I got her call. I couldn't believe it, someone has to be the mastermind behind all this. Steve should called the higher-ups.''
