"Next, let's test the tear attack of the Glare-Glare Fruit," Fury murmured thoughtfully, his analytical nature compelling him to explore every aspect of his new power.
While it seemed unlikely that he would ever rely on such an unconventional ability, Fury recognized the importance of having an unexpected trump card. In his line of work, where surprise often meant the difference between success and failure, even the most bizarre skill could prove invaluable. After all, who would anticipate tears being turned into weapons?
He raised a hand to his single eye, focusing intently. Slowly, a tear formed, shimmering as it slid down his cheek. But this wasn't a mere droplet of saline—it was a dense, gleaming liquid, unmistakably charged with the fruit's mysterious power.
As Fury held the shimmering droplet of liquid, he felt an intuitive understanding of its properties—its malleability and potential for transformation. Concentrating, he visualized a specific shape, and after a few moments of effort, the tear morphed into a fine, razor-sharp needle.
Testing its durability and edge against the tip of his finger, Fury nodded in approval. The needle was hard as steel and lethally sharp. It was a dangerous tool even in this simple form, and Fury's imagination began to race. With enough practice, crafting more complex weapons—daggers, blades, or even intricate shapes—seemed entirely feasible. The idea of projecting these creations as precise, deadly projectiles further intrigued him.
"Not bad at all," Fury mused, the skepticism he had initially harbored about the tear-based ability fading rapidly.
The more he explored the Glare-Glare Fruit's powers, the more its potential unfolded before him. Each ability it granted carried layers of depth, limited only by his creativity and willingness to master them. Fury's mind buzzed with possibilities, and a growing sense of satisfaction took root. This fruit wasn't just a tool but a gateway to unparalleled versatility and power.
Returning to the shop, Fury found Rosh waiting, a knowing smile on his face. It was as if the Shopkeeper had anticipated every reaction, every shift in Fury's mindset.
"Well, Fury, how do you feel about it now?" Rosh asked, his voice casual, but his eyes watched Fury carefully as though gauging his reaction.
Fury responded with his usual calm demeanor, though a hint of excitement flickered beneath the surface. "It's not bad," he said, trying to hide his growing interest. "I'll take it."
Rosh nodded as if he had anticipated the answer all along. "Very well. The price is 100 kilograms of gold."
Fury didn't even blink at the amount. With a subtle wave of his hand, his agents, who had been standing guard outside the shop, entered in perfect coordination, carrying in several cases filled with the gleaming payment. The gold was meticulously packed and ready, a testament to Fury's preparation.
'System, initiate the trade,' Rosh commanded with a calm authority, his hand hovering over the gold.
In that instant, a notification echoed in his mind:
[Transaction processing...]
[Transaction valid!]
[Transaction complete!]
The moment the confirmation sounded, the entire pile of gold disappeared in the blink of an eye, seamlessly transferred into Rosh's personal inventory. Fury, ever the seasoned spy, rarely showed surprise, but this display of otherworldly efficiency left even him momentarily wide-eyed.
Fury's eyes narrowed, his mind racing as he tried to piece together the mysteries surrounding Rosh. "How...?" he began, but his thoughts were interrupted by Rosh's calm response.
"Your fruit," Rosh said smoothly, offering the Glare-Glare Fruit with a slight smile. "Here, take it."
Fury accepted the fruit with a careful grip, his thoughts still swirling. He took a small bite, instantly feeling the subtle, almost imperceptible shift in his perception as the fruit's power activated. He could feel its potential coursing through him, and realizing it would be futile to continue pondering its mysteries in depth, he chose not to take the remaining portion back to S.H.I.E.L.D. He knew all too well how elusive and baffling the nature of the Devil Fruits could be.
After swallowing the bite, Fury leaned casually against the counter, still adjusting to the strange new power. "Now that I've made a purchase," he said, his tone thoughtful but controlled, "Would it be all right if we had a little chat?"
Rosh raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued by the sudden shift in Fury's demeanor. "What do you want to know?" he asked, his voice calm but curious.
"Why sell these miraculous fruits?" Fury asked directly. "You don't seem like someone who's in need of money."
"Because I want to," Rosh replied with a casual shrug, his expression unreadable.
Fury's frown deepened. He had expected some sort of deflection, but the simplicity of Rosh's response seemed to carry more weight as if there was something more beneath it.
"Fair enough," Fury said, choosing to let it go for now. "Are there other places where I can purchase Devil Fruits?"
"None," Rosh answered, his tone final. "This is the only shop in the world."
Fury nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the information. It made sense. If this was the only place, it could explain the rarity and allure of these fruits.
"And how exactly do these fruits come into your possession?" Fury pressed, his curiosity piqued.
Rosh raised an eyebrow. "You're welcome to ask."
Fury hesitated, realizing that probing further would likely lead nowhere. Some mysteries, it seemed, were best left unsolved. He fell silent, choosing to bide his time.
"Look," Rosh said, breaking the brief silence. "You know as well as I do that you're not going to get anything useful from me, so let's not waste each other's time. Besides, I'm not exactly keen on chatting with old men."
Recognizing the clear dismissal, Fury straightened up and nodded curtly. "Then I won't keep you any longer." With that, he turned and exited the shop.
As for joining the Devil Fruit Family group chat? Fury hadn't even brought it up. With Natasha already deeply embedded, there was no need. And Rosh wasn't about to extend that invitation either.
As Fury made his way down the street, one thought remained with him: 'This fruit could very well be the edge S.H.I.E.L.D. needs in a world that's becoming more unpredictable by the day.'
