After watching the news and realizing that zombies had spread worldwide, the group started a discussion about the zombies, wondering if their bodies would rot or not. However, unlike the original plot, Renji suggested that they form a group.
Another difference was when Saeko mentioned that the group had the ability to help survivors, but Renji disagreed with this idea.
"Saeko-san, I don't think so! If we save people, they'll think we have an obligation to protect and feed them. People are ungrateful like that, especially in a situation like this where we don't know when the danger will pass."
"What we should do is provide the means. Sure, we can save those who need it, but at all times, making it clear that 'they' owe us. And we shouldn't put group members at risk for some random stranger we find on the streets."
"And one more warning, don't scream! I'll repeat, don't scream. No matter what happens, don't scream. Try to make as little noise as possible. At least in this, we were lucky the zombies are blind, moving entirely by sound."
"Oh, yeah! Kohta, it's okay for you to use that nail gun in our escape we'll make some noise anyway, but you should only use it when necessary, providing cover for the short-range fighters."
After the discussion, the group removed the barricade from the teachers' room door, starting their way to the parking lot where the minibus was parked. On the way, seeing the number of zombies, Saeko said that the group should avoid unnecessary fights since zombies only respond to sound. They can create opportunities to escape from them even in a combat situation.
While the group was moving, they ended up hearing a girl's scream. And it was no surprise when the group ran to her rescue, even after Renji's speech in the teachers' room, which gave him even more desire to continue with his plan. To complete his plan, he needs one more "person," a very special person.
Putting their thoughts aside, in a few seconds, the few zombies were easily eliminated. When the last zombie was killed, one of the girls tried to thank them, but as she started to speak loudly, Saeko asked her not to talk loudly and said:
"Has any of you been bitten?"
"No! No!" Said a girl with short blue hair.
"They seem to be okay. I don't see any bloodstains on their bodies" While Renji was speaking, Takeshi, like a good protagonist, asked the group they had just saved if they would like to escape with them.
With the confirmation, both groups merged, forming a considerable force with 13 members. After the merger, Renji asked the group to follow his strategy so everyone could leave the school safely.
"With the current number of people in our group, we can take advantage of the Go formation created in ancient China. Originally composed of 5 members, we will adapt it a bit to fit our scenario. With Shizuka-sensei in the middle, being the only one with medical knowledge, we will form 4 groups of 3, taking care of each direction when in open places."
"Always, when one of the members attacks, we must use our intelligence to take advantage of the zombie's stupidity. Each group must act as one."
Upon finishing his speech, the group divided as follows Takashi was in the vanguard with two of the new men who joined the group. Saeko leads the left side, Rei is the leader of the right side, and Renji leads the rearguard.
After deciding how the formation would be, the group resumed their escape. But they were apprehensive about the number of zombies when they reached the exit. Even with Renji assuring that the zombies are blind, the group did not feel safe unless they saw it with their own eyes.
As a result of Renji taking the protagonist's rightful place, he descended the stairs, walked through the zombies, and headed for the door. With visual confirmation, the rest of the group quickly followed. But as in the original world, one of the group's new members bumped their weapon against the stairs, echoing the sound of metal colliding through the silent school.
Not satisfied with the noise, Takeshi, demonstrating all his wisdom, shouted at the top of his lungs, ordering everyone to run. It didn't matter whether he shouted or not this time! And if it weren't for Renji reminding them of the formation, the group would have acted like a bunch of headless chickens.
"Don't forget the formation! And don't fight unless necessary. Just clear the path."
Thanks to his commanding the group, they reached the bus without casualties, unlike the original timeline where one of the new members would have been surrounded, and his girlfriend would have gone back to die with him.
As the group boarded the bus, they heard a cry for help. Looking in the direction of the shout, they saw a group of students with a teacher running towards them.
"Who's that teacher?" asked Takeshi, who was guarding the door of the bus.
"It's Shido, the teacher from 3-A," she said with disgust in her voice.
"Shido..." said Rei, frightened by her dark past with such a teacher. As Shido's group ran towards the bus, Rei argued with Takeshi not to save him, to let him die. While they argued, one of the students in Shido's group tripped and twisted his ankle. Precisely because they were arguing, everyone except Renji didn't see Shido kick the student in the face, leaving him to die.
After he got on the bus, Shizuka sped off with the bus, running over the zombies that came in front of her, saying that they were no longer human, in an attempt not to hesitate to run over them with the bus. Leaving through the gate in a fast and furious style, the bus sped away.
Seeing that they were no longer in danger, Shido went to talk to Saeko, asking if she was the leader of the group. But before she could answer, Renji punched him in the nose, smashing it into his face.
