Chapter 7

It was barely six hours since sedora had met King, Louis.

She cried her eyes out the night before, she was still confused about what had happened she slept feeling heartbroken she wanted to go home far away was this crazy kingdom.

She had slept peacefully. Sleep was the only thing that made her forget what was happening in the real world.

She yawned and stretched her limbs, She turned to see that the fire in the hearth was reduced to glowing amber and wondered how she was going to face everyone when she came out.

She knew they had all heard her scream last night, She got up from the bed and wrapped a shawl over her chemise.

She walked to the window and opened the glass and a smile wormed its way onto her lips.

It was dawn, it was a dawn of a new day that brought freshness to her life she decided to forget all that happened the night before.

"so that was the king?" she asked herself if she believed too much in the fairy tales she had that forgot where she was, but if the king wanted to kill her or punish her she would not complain.

She knew she didn't do anything deserving punishment but Louis was their king he could do anything.

It was Maria who sold her to this place, to her demise.

She quickly went to take her bath and wore a simple pale pink gown then she worked on her hair by taking many pieces of her hair at the front to tie leaving out the rest of it that stopped below her waist she used pins to secure her hair while pulling small pieces of her hair from the side of her temple.

She was thankful to the butler for giving her the clothes pins and a mirror that she was using now.

Edward told her they belonged to his sister, that she died a year ago she knew how it felt to lose someone when her mother died she was nine but it took its turn on her.

When she was done with her hair she went to stand in front of the mirror she was looking simple and clean.

She came out of the servant's quarters to continue her daily job in the castle, she opened the door and strolled out like a little child that didn't care about anything in the world.

Locking the door behind her she went in search of Clara.

She heard from one of the servants that Lila was killed the night they arrived at the castle Clara and Faith went with princess rena to her kingdom she hoped that they were back and still alive.

She went straight to the kitchen to help the cooks. She knew they would give her something to eat if she worked with them she was starving but she had gotten used to the feeling.

She entered the kitchen she looked around to see that everyone was staring at her and she knew why.

she saw two girls chatting one stood close to the big table in the kitchen chopping vegetables the other girl just sat there with her elbow on the table and hands to her jaw.

She knew who they were, Harriet and Henrietta.

they were twins Harriet was the older one of the two they didn't look like twins she didn't see any resemblance and she was sure everyone who had seen them would say the same.

they were the worst people she had ever met or so she thought.

sedora brought out the dirty dishes and began to wash them

" There she is playing innocent," said Harriet with a chuckle they knew she could hear them but they didn't care.

"I heard she tried to seduce the king last night and that she was almost killed everyone saw her walking with the king to the garden minutes later we heard screams, that bold for a whore don't you think Harriet?" Henrietta said with a serious expression.

"what made her think the king would want a cheap slut she must be courting death" Harriet replied and gave sedora a side glance sedora kept her focus on the dishes she ignored them .

"Courting death? she's on death roll I heard from the coachman that they were bought from the slave market as a present for the king on his birthday I pity her sister!!" Henrietta said as she stood up to bring more vegetables for her sister to chop.

"I pity her too, princess rena is going to chop off her fingers when she hears about this I just can't wait to see what happens next," Harriet said with an evil grin that sedora could see at the side of her eye she wants to shout at them but she didn't want more trouble.

the cooks in the kitchen were two males John and luke they looked like they were minding their business in the kitchen which was to cook and keep mute they could hear what the girls said but pretended not to hear.

A lump formed on sedora's throat she was holding her tears in, She didn't want them to see her at her weakest moment she didn't blame the girls she had been reduced to nothing she was a princess before all this no one could dare offend her all the tears that she had been holding back fell on her cheek she sniffed.

"me too, we have been working here for years if the king needed someone it should be us, ain't we beautiful enough? Henrietta said as anger filled her chest .

" slut?!! "sedora had reached her limit she couldn't take it anymore she turned in the direction of the girls.

" I'm not a slut and I didn't seduce the king try getting information from a solid source before jumping into conclusions" she shouted.

" you're a cheap slut a dumb one "Harriet shouted ready to fight sedora.

" you are the -the"sedora opened her mouth to speak but was cut halfway by one of the cooks .

" sedora behave yourself and get back to work" John said with an irritated look he just spoke to her like he didn't hear how the girls insulted her.

she didn't do anything wrong was the cook deaf didn't he hear what the girls were saying to her tears streamed down her face the girls started laughing.

" cry baby, run off to mummy now," they said in unison as they laughed.

She told dropped her gaze to the floor not knowing what to do she wanted the ground to open so she could enter.

A young man walked into the kitchen wearing a black uniform with a golden belt and a sword by his waist he was a guard of the castle.

He had red eyes sedora figured he was a vampire and wondered why king Louis had golden eyes .

"sedora" he said as his eyes searched for the owner of the name.

" yes"sedora replied" The king wants you in his chambers, "he said and left and she followed behind him when she heard someone shout.

" whore" She didn't reply and kept walking.

Sedora walked without aim she didn't know where the king's chambers were the guard turned and followed the route to the stables her thoughts were clouded by what those two sisters said earlier.

" so she was food, was she going to die without seeing her father and without anyone knowing where she was? she wasn't ready to die she was going to find an escape route I need to leave this place, I can't die here never I refused to die like this like a gift wait did the king ask for her but why? She was deep in thought as she walked her hands were trembling...

She felt a hand on her back out of shock, she jerked but missed a step and fell.

"ouch," she shouted and heard a chuckle she raised her head to see who it was.

"I'm sorry I startled you," Clara said smiling as she offered her hand to help sedora up. With a smile, sedora took Clara's hand got up, and hugged Clara.

Clara was caught off guard she almost lost balance.

"I missed you, Clara, everyone has been so mean to me it hurts " she said as she sobbed without letting Clara go.

"I missed you too dear, I'm sorry about that I went with princess rena to her kingdom it wasn't easy there also but who are we to complain? " Clara said stroking sedora's back softly.

Sedora didn't want to let go of Clara she wanted to stay in the embrace for some minutes.

"wait was Clara crying?" she released herself from the hug and saw that Clara was crying .

"What's wrong this something happen over there? Did Princess Rena hurt you?" she asked with a face filled with care her gaze went to Clara's neck a bruised had formed there like she had been strangled she was shocked.

Clara didn't want to answer the question because she had been warned not to tell anyone or she would be killed but she saw the worried expression on sedora's face and knew the girl won't stop until she told her what happened.

"It was Prince Raymond he is princess rena's step brother he ra--p-p" before Clara could finish her words the Butler walked .

"I'm sure you won't want to be punished, sedora go now the king is waiting, "the butler said with a calm voice .

"I'm sorry butler I was in my way there b-before-"sedora stuttered not knowing what to say.

Seeing the butler Clara bowed and started walking to the servant quarters without lifting her head up.

"If you get in trouble with the king he might behead you, go now girl," the butler said as his gaze was still on Clara who was walking to the servant quarters he knew something was wrong but he didn't want to ask he had spent years in this castle and one thing he had learned was to not poke nose into the business of others he knew how badly it would end.

no one goes out with princess rena and comes back alive and the girl was still alive meaning she was traumatized it was not in his place to ask her about the problem.

Sedora nodded and walked aimlessly to the right.

She didn't know the direction to the king's room and she didn't ask her head was filled with worry for Clara the butler noticed.

"That's not the direction to the king's chambers, it's the third room by the left of the first last floor it has a symbol of a dragon on the door" the butler said.

sedora nodded she smiled awkwardly as she hastened her steps she was embarrassed.
