Cain's past (Phase 1/3)

5th May, 1468

07:31 am,

Cain's home,

The alarm clock rings as the clock strikes half pasts 7. Cain wakes up with a pain in his right arm..

"Huff...

This f**king pain

Should've used hand-wraps yesterday.

My body's still not prepared for the impact, I guess."

Cain said to himself as he gets up from his bed.

He stretches his arms and legs, then goes to change his nightwear to shorts.

Then he proceeds to open his rooms curtains. As the rays of sunlight falls on his face, he says in a faint voice,

"So, I am 15 today."

His eyes fell on his family's album on his nightstand,

"Nothing much special."

He says in a faint voice as he went up to an open place in his room and lays down a mat.

Then he continues to do push-ups on that.

After 5 minutes, his sister sneakily entered his room,

"91... 92... 93... 94..."

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAIN!!!!" She shouts as loud as she could in front of his ears.

"...97... 98... 99... 100... Yes, what is it?"

Cain asked her after completing his 100 sets for the day.

"Do you ever get scared?" She asked in an angry manner while making a pouty face.

"Never felt the need for it."

Cain said as he proceeds to wear his hand wraps.

"Can you even answer my questions naturally?

Okay, besides that, what are your plans for today as it is your birthday?"

Her sister asked him as she comforts herself in the sofa kept near the table.

"And why the hell is your sofa filled with these boxing tutorial magazines."

Cain stopped hitting the punching bag for a moment to answer her,

"Leave the magazines there only."

"Oh really? what does it matter, if you have fighting skills or not.

I mean, who's coming to fight you in broad daylight?

"Doesn't matter, you are a kid anyway.

Speaking of which, you can ask dad if he wants to organize a party or not.

He would have already planned something about it."

"Rude as always. Aren't you? Even though I have less height, I am just a year younger than you."

She said in an annoying manner.

"Now can you please get out from here?

I have to get ready for my school, and so you too."

Cain said as he unwraps the tapes from his hand.

"Fine, fine, double-faced bastard."

She said in a teasing manner as she gets up and starts going towards the door.

"YOU!!"

Cain chases her out of his bedroom by throwing a pillow at her head.

As her sister left the room, he steps into his marble tiled bathroom and turns on the golden showered knobs.

The warm water cascades down his body, the luxurious scent of his designer shower gel filling the air. After his shower, he dresses in his custom-tailored middle-school uniform, complete with a monogrammed blazer and Italian leather loafers.

Cain then makes his way to the dining room where the housekeeper had prepared his breakfast. As he ate his meal, he moves his head towards the housekeeper to say something.

"Hmm... Today's breakfast is excellent, Mr. Hytus." Cain said with a smile on his face.

"Its nothing young master.

As it is your birthday today, Mr. Gratos has given his best for today's breakfast, and it was specially garnished by me."

The housekeeper replied by bowing his head down.

"I could tell that by seeing it anyways. Don't worry, I would talk to my father for both of your promotion."

Cain said as he starts leaving the table.

"Thank you young master."

The housekeeper said with a smile on his face.

"Had my father came last night?" Cain asked as he picked up his bag from the nearby chair.

"Yes, young master. He had asked you to be ready with your sister till 6:30 at evening."

The housekeeper replied to his question, in response of which he sees Cain walking away.

"Wait, young master, today's special desert would be excellent one, I promise.

Just give us some moments."

The housekeeper tried to stop him by saying so.

"WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" The sound came as someone slips and falls down with some utensils in the kitchen.

As the scream comes, the housekeeper's facial expression becomes tensed, and he bows his head down.

"Well, its now 5 days in a row. Is everything alright?"

Cain asked with an awkward smile.

"Sorry young master, she's a new recruit. She has a great cooking skill, but she's a little bit clumsy.

She had joined us for paying her middle school fees and her mother is also a long-term patient for cancer.

D-Don't worry young master, she will learn as-"

"No need."

Cain said as he pulls out his wallet from his pocket.

"Here. 20,000 bucks.

Hand her this and tell her to stop coming here."

Cain says as he throws the money on the dining table and starts going towards the entrance.

Then he makes his way to the entrance of his mansion, where his personal driver was waiting for him beside the vehicle he was going to ride.

"Good morning, young master." The driver greeted him as he comes near.

"Please drive me to the St. Fios orphanage." Cain says as he open's the car's door.

Cain sat in the backseat of the car, staring out the window as they drove through the busy streets of the city.

As they drove, Cain struck up a conversation with his driver.

"Do you remember the first time you drove me to the orphanage, Mr. Johnson?"

Mr. Johnson smiled in the rearview mirror.

"Of course, I do young master. You were just a little boy then, barely able to reach the window. But you were so excited to visit the orphanage and see your friends."

Cain nodded with a small smile on his face.

"Yeah absolutely, I still remember those days.

I was so amateur."

Mr. Johnson chuckled,

"And speaking of it, happy birthday, young master! I almost forgot to wish you."

Cain replied to him,

"Thank you, Mr. Johnson.

Oh, one more thing.

Also stop at the nearby convenience store I have to buy candies. "

Mr. Johnson nodded. "That's very thoughtful of you, young master. I'm sure your friends at the orphanage will be thrilled to see you."

Cain replies as he sees their picture of them kept in his wallet.

"I wish, if they could."

5th May, 1468

08:05 am,

St. Fios Orphanage,

"Young master, we have reached the destination." The driver said as he stops his car at the gateway of the orphanage.

"You can go now.

If my father asks about this, tell him you dropped me at the school."

Cain says as he gets off the car.

"As you wish, young master."

Mr. Johnson says as he starts the engine.

As Cain opened the main gate of the orphanage, he could see children playing nearby. He started walking inside when the children began to notice him.

"Hey, isn't that the same brother who brought us lots of chocolates several days ago?" a child pointed his finger at him and said.

"Yeah, it's him!" The other children rushed towards Cain, confirming his identity.

Cain was soon surrounded by the children as they assembled near him.

"Okay, calm down. Let me take out the chocolates for you," he said while laughing, as he pulled out a chocolate tin from his school bag.

At the sight of the container filled with chocolate candies, the children became instantly joyful and started pushing each other to get closer to it. The commotion grew so intense that Cain had to call over the person in charge of them to distribute the candies. The crowd quickly shifted their attention to the person, eagerly awaiting their share.

After the candies had been distributed, Cain took a moment to visit the orphanage's graveyard, and offered his prayer to three graves located together.

As he was doing so, he was interrupted by someone.

"How are you doing Cain?"

An old lady asked him from behind.

"Oh! Miss Tracy. Nice to meet you. How are you doing?"

Cain asked as he turns around and walked to her.

"I am fine. You have become so much taller since the last time I saw you." Miss Tracy says.

"Oh, it's nothing, ma'am" Cain replied with a slight smile.

"Anyways, please hand this over to the house parent.

Its a cheque of 3,00,000.

I have to go to school." He said as he hurriedly picks up his bag and leaves.

As he exits through the main gate, the lady who was handing over the candies comes to Miss Tracy,

"That boy, he really used to care about his friends. Wasn't he?"

She said while looking at Miss Tracy.

"Yeah. He never forgot his home and his friends he grew up with."

Miss Tracy said in a sad tone as she was waving at Cain.

"The worst way a person can die is being caught up in a thing, they don't have part in.

If... If I had stopped those kids from going to the market that day."

She trails off into whisper as tears start forming in her eyes.

"No, its still not enough pain, that he suffered."

Miss Tracy said as tears also rolled out her eyes.

"You don't know, why those kids got killed that day, as you weren't present that day."

"Haven't they got involved in a gang war?"

She asks as she wipes off her tears.

"No, if that was the case, it would have been the matter of accident.

But what he had done, was just like pushing his friends off a cliff." Miss Tracy said.

"What?" She says in a surprised manner.

"The thing was....

the tickets bought by Cain, were for a trip to that city with his friends at his birthday.

But he couldn't go with them as he had some important work to do."

Miss Tracy explained with a sad tone.

Miss Tracy paused for a while before continuing.

"Till this day...

he still thinks of it as a...

betrayal to his friends."

5th May, 1468

09:34 am,

Lt. Martial Feudrite middle-school (Period-II History),

"Today, I want to talk to you about extinction," the teacher began her class.

"It's a topic that might seem a little grim, but it's an important part of our history. Did you know that 4000-5000 years ago, humans went extinct?"

There were murmurs of surprise and confusion from the students, and the teacher nodded in understanding. "It's true. And it's not just humans that have gone extinct over the years. Many of the wonders that we've created have been lost to time as well. The pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Colossus of Rhodes...all of these things have disappeared from the world."

Yeshwin was sitting in the classroom, when his phone vibrates with a text message,

"Sir, a new member has joined us. The info is attached with it."

To which, Yeshwin also texted back,

"Are all his background and records clear?

And what about the last night's raid at Building-56?"

A text message again pops on his phone

"Yes sir, he is clear.

But the raid failed miserably as Fennec and his hoodlums were already waiting for us there."

The teacher's voice grew somber as she continued. "It's not just humans and human-made wonders that have gone extinct, either. Countless animals have disappeared from the earth over the years. The dodo bird, the Tasmanian tiger, the woolly mammoth...all of these creatures are gone forever."

The class was silent as they listened to the teacher's words. "So why did all of these things go extinct?" she asked. "There are many different reasons. Sometimes it's because of natural disasters, like volcanic eruptions or asteroid impacts. Other times it's because of human actions, like hunting or deforestation. And sometimes, we just don't know."

"But the important thing to remember," the teacher concluded, "is that extinction is not the end. Just like humans have been reborn after going extinct thousands of years ago, life will always find a way to carry on."

Yeshwin's phone again buzzed with a text, which stated.

"The team casualties were 5, and 2 were extremely hurt as they are in rest now. Others successfully escaped from there."

In anger, Yeshwin hits his elbow on the study desk behind him, causing a geometry box to slip down and make a loud noise in the completely silent class.

"S-S-Sorry kingpin." Yeshwin says as he wakes up Zohan from his sleep.

The teacher looked straight at Yeshwin, and with an angry expression on her face said,

"Please get up from your seat."

Yeshwin points at himself and said,

"Me?"

"No, the one sleeping behind you."

The teacher says as she her points her finger behind him.

Zohan gets up from his seat, when the teacher asked him to,

"Sleeping in the class, not respecting your teachers, and even not listening to the lectures but still scoring the highest among your classmates. The teachers who are teaching you from year 1 can let that slide, but I won't. What do you think about your attitude and morals Mr. Zohan?"

The teacher smirks while saying this.

"Uhm.... I don't know. But I had already studied that part."

Zohan said while yawning.

"So, you mean I can ask you any questions from this chapter." The teacher said with a smile on her face.

"Well, yeah, of course." Zohan also said while looking at her face.

"So, can you tell the source of this chapter?

I mean, who was exactly the person who first found the evidence of humans who had lived on earth before?"

The teacher said the question with the least speed as possible.

The class instantly fell silent as every eye fixed on Zohan.

After some seconds of silence, Zohan spoke up.

"Well ma'am, I didn't get it."

Zohan said with a slightly confused look on his face.

The teacher took a slight laugh before replying,

"You see, Zohan.

Just reading the topics before the exams, and scoring all those marks would only affect the scorecards.

But, in here."

She points towards her head with her finger before continuing.

"It will be absolutely zero."

"So, students." She said while changing her focus from Zohan.

"History is just like your soul and dates related to it is your body. As you remember its origin, its time and date will also be imprinted on your brain, just as your body follows your soul.

No need to memorize.

Unlike some people who will only go through it, just for the sake of marks." The teacher remarked it by looking towards Zohan.

The students could be heard giggling with this reply, when teacher with a sudden continued her sentence,

"Okay, so the answer to that question, that I just asked-"

"Ma'am, you didn't get what I said.

You see, I was meaning, which one do you want?"

Zohan says while interrupting the teacher.

"Excuse me?" The teacher says in an astonished manner while again focusing on Zohan.

Zohan began with keeping both his hands at the desk.

"Well, let's start the list.

Firstly, Evelyn Troy of the late 12th century discovered the 'wonders of the world' from scripts which were found within a 5 feet container which by opening it, were found with proper designs and name described somewhere in the Sahara Desert.

Secondly, our modern science founder Aisha Patel, of 1350, found out about advanced technologies buried in some western part of Canada.

Thirdly, the most important person, G.H. Juyter, encoded the language written on all those documents, upon which all today's places, things, and everything else are named.

If you are asking for the textbook's answers, then all that research was done by an archaeological organization named "CAS," which stands for Chrono Archaeological Society.

Oh sorry, not researched, but for bringing all those discoveries to a single place and showing them to the world as their own research, by making fake identities of the archaeologists belonging to their organization, even to the point of non-consentually including those, who are already dead.

Well, with this, your question of the first person finding the proof of human existence at a particular date with the specified person is also at question.

Well, these are the main points. You are free to ask more questions if you are interested."

The students were stunned by the answer and sounds of discussion could be heard from every corner of the class.

"Silence, everyone."

The teacher then again took a look over Zohan and began questioning him.

"So, what you are saying is, everything what we are studying, is wrong, completely. Isn't it?"

"From what I said, it is." Zohan replied without any hesitation.

"But from what I can see, it is completely wrong."

Teacher tells him by showing him her phone.

"Everything, you said is nothing anywhere in newlines, book editor's website or anywhere.

Well, of course it should have been seen at author's webpage, as they respond to any errors as fast as possible."

"Oh, I really took that thing serious."

"Yeah absolutely, completely believed that for a moment."

"But that really sounded genuine. Isn't it?"

"Well, he had proved miraculous things before also."

The students began discussing as teacher disapproves Zohan's point.

"Now, let's hear your opinion on this, Mr. Zohan." The teacher said while having a smirk on her face.

"I think it's not updated yet.

Anyway, as you said author replies to any queries as fast as possible. Right?"

Zohan said while pointing her towards her phone.

"Look, if you have time to waste, you can do it after-"

"No... no. See, I am serious." Zohan says while interrupting the teacher.

"Okay, let's make a bet, you type the question on author's webpage, and he will answer it. If I am proved wrong in any of my point, I will drop off this school."

Zohan adds while pointing his finger at teacher.

The classroom became alive again with this argument.

"Are you really sure, because the website answers in just 30-40 seconds, and you will have nowhere to escape."

The teacher said as she typed in her phone's keyboard.

"Of course." Zohan said with confidence.

"Well, I would like to see your uncle's face when he would come asking for forgiveness for your stupidity." The teacher says with smile as she waits for the answer.

The teacher's phone suddenly rang as she checked it.

"Okay, the answer has arrived, one of you, yes "Rhodrick' come and read the answer."

The teacher said with a smile as she looked towards Zohan.

Rhodrick began reading from the screen.

"We don't know, how you got that report. But that is absolutely true, and we are working on that topic to have a press-meeting on it as soon as possible. Please stay connected with us on the website, so you can be updated."

The teacher's face instantly changed into a shocked one as she again takes a look at her phone screen.

"What?! That's impossible!"

With this Zohan smirked while looking her face and sat on his seat with his legs crossed.

The students continued to have discussion about this, until the teacher interrupted them,

"Silence, you all.

Your answer was right, Zohan."

The teacher said while gritting her teeth and looking at Zohan.

"Its my honor, ma'am" Zohan replied to her.

The bell rings as the period comes to end and with this, the teacher leaves the room as soon as possible.

Some students were amazed with this, while some thought this feat as something incredible.

But Zohan, with this added another trait of him being different from them, along with non-sociable personality that is not very likable at all.

5th May, 1468,

10:55 am,

Lunch time,

Zohan was using the restroom when he saw Cain also enter. As Cain began using the urinal behind him, he started the conversation.

"Seems like our fox has began using his fists." Zohan said as they were facing opposite to each other.

"So, how does it feel to be at the receiving end?" Cain said while smirking.

"Pretty much nothing, you know.

As I only send my boys to fight if I am being signed by contract with someone. We get hurt, but we still get money.

You already know what would have been the outcome if I was there."

Zohan replied to Cain.

"Yeah, yeah, you are out of my league.

Well, how about you breach the contract and act as my bishop.

I can pay you four times the price offered."

Cain replied to him, as he was washing his hands in basin.

"Sorry li'l prince, we have our own regulations. We can't break it, even though I am the main.

You can try after 11 of this month, we may be free after that."

Zohan replied to his offer.

"Anyway, catch this."

Cain throws a wrapped-up paper towards him as Cain starts walking towards the door, which Zohan catches it with his left hand.

"F**ker, can't you see am zipping. What shit is this?"

Zohan replies as he zips up his trouser with his right hand.

"Invitation to my birthday party at Fadsel Palace.

You are my enemy, but still a person who follows the profession as same as me. If you have time do come."

Cain said as he leaves through the door.

Zohan unwraps the invitation, and smiles at it,

"He gave an invitation to his enemy. HUH.

Well, well. I was trying to stay out of that matter, but how can I not give him his gift, when he has invited me with such an elegant gesture?"

With this, he called Yeshwin from his phone,

"Yes, Yeshwin. I've got the place it's Fadsel Palace. Roll out at 8:30. Its that bastard's birthday."

"Kingpin, but he's our enemy, you know,"

"I know, bring all the boys.

And this time remember to pack sufficient bats, or I will smash your balls with it first."

"Got it, kingpin." Yeshwin replied with stammering voice.
