Silence fell.
None of them could solve this problem.
Jennifer heaved a sigh, "Yesterday, Bryson asked me if we lied to him about Gloria's promise."
Nydia drew a breath, "Ah..."
Gloria pursed her lips and finally spoke, "At least it showed he got mentally prepared."
Jennifer's eyes turned red-rimmed. She stood at the end of the porch and looked back from time to time, afraid that Bryson would come out.
Making sure he hadn't come out, she sighed, "Gloria, why doesn't he like me? He doesn't have to be bothered if he likes me."
With mixed emotions, Nydia opened her mouth but words were caught in her throat.
"Let it be. I need to figure things out," Gloria said peacefully.
Jennifer and Nydia could do nothing about it.
Jennifer drew a breath, "How about you?"
"Much better. I can go to the hospital to visit him in a couple of days."
