I'll become an Imperial Knight!

As we walked through the streets of the capital, we were greeted by warm gazes from citizens.

"Hey! Alex! Ezra! Wait.."

We stopped in our tracks to see Ms. Lily rushing towards us.

"Take this with you"

She handed us a paper bag.

"It's some cookies I baked, take this with you" she smiled brightly.

We thanked her and went our way.

"She is really pretty" Alex said

"Hmm...so you like her?" I replied while munching on the tasty cookies.

"Of course not, I only like you~" he giggled

I punched him in his stomach.

"Oww that HURTS!" He groaned in pain.

I sighed

My name is Ezra, I'm an orphan. I met Alex when I was 10 years old, I was passed out in the snow. His sister helped me and let me live with them. I refused but they insisted that I live there at least until I'm better.

If it weren't for her sister Stella I might've died. I once saw Alex training with his sword. He told me that he wanted to become an Imperial Knight so I helped him learn more techniques.

At first he was shocked that a girl younger than him was better than him. Well...I didn't tell him that I've lived before. Yeah, I was reincarnated into this world.

And since that day we've been training next to each other. Today's the day our dreams might become reality.

We reached the royal palace where the registration and test will take place. I suddenly stopped in my tracks

It was him! How did I forget about it. There he was dressed in white clothes. The Emperor.

(It's okay because he saw me in my disguise, he won't recognise me... hopefully?)

"Ezra! Come here"

(Eeek why are you saying my name so loudly, I don't even remember if I told him) I internally screamed.

I looked up again and our eyes locked. His red eyes like a Ruby, black hair which shines brightly. Then some force pulled me, breaking our eye contact.

"What are you doing? Let's go."

(Thank you Alex, I always thought you were an annoying brat but you saved my life. I'm truly indebted by you)

After registration we went to the first round the selection. We had to spar with with trained knights. In second round we had to fight with each other till only a quarter of the participants are left. Lastly we had to go into the western  forest and those who survive will be officially appointed as Imperial Knights.

The western forest wasn't a normal forest, it was filled with human eating monsters and deadly beasts.

Tomorrow the test starts. I'll do my best!!
