Chapter Twelve

"Kid what are you saying? How could I have the face to blame you?" Madam Jin was the first one to talk while the others were still gaping at her. How come she thought that they would blame her? None of them had any idea of what she had gone through in her last life. The last thing she wanted was for her family to be dissatisfied with her.

"Mom, I..." Seeing the shock on everyone's faces, Yang Lifei didn't know what to say anymore. She had been worried they'd blame her.

"Fei'er, it's mom that's been feeling guilty all this time. I have known that you don't fancy my son but he had insisted on marrying only you. Mom knew this but has been selfish since she wanted her son to be happy. If there is anyone to blame in your marriage to Chen, then it would be the Jin family. Now that you two get along and have already gotten married, we are beyond happy. Would you forgive the Jin family for their selfishness?" Madam Jin spoke anxiously as she held onto Yang Lifei's hand.

She was worried that maybe Yang Lifei was holding it against them for forcing her to do something that she didn't want to do. Their families have been friends yes but the children's feelings were one-sided and they had never thought of Yang Lifei's feelings. They had known that they were not fair but their son was too stubborn and refused to let go. They were actually hoping that one day Yang Lifei would take a fancy to Jin Chen.

Yang family on the other hand didn't really force Yang Lifei. They had agreed to the engagement but if Yang Lifei happened to have a change in heart, then they wouldn't force her to marry Jin Chen. When Yang Lifei had not rejected the engagement, they were relieved and worried at the same time.

They were worried because Yang Lifei didn't really like Jin Chen but was still willing to get engaged to him and spend the rest of her life in a loveless marriage.

They were relieved because she at least was willing to give it a try. They had never seen her liking any one bit the thought that she was willing to take that bold step and give it a try.

They had never intended from the beginning to force her into the marriage if she wasn't willing. The same applied to the Jin family. Although they were looking forwarding to the two families getting connected through marriage, they had told Jin Chen that if Yang Lifei was not willing, they would not force her.

When they received the news that she was willing, they were very happy. Now that she even taken the initiative to get a marriage certificate with Jin Chen, they were even more than happy.

Both their families didn't need marriage for their companies to grow, what matters was the children's happiness.

As long as both parties were willing, they had no problem even if they go a grandchild the next day.

"Mom, don't feel guilty because I was the one who agreed to the engagement. Although I haven't paid too much attention to this engagement, I have thought things through and I'm now open to experience this with Chen. I know that you guys were never going to force me if I wasn't willing, that's why I'm actually grateful that you wanted the engagement," Yang Lifei said as she turned and smiled at Jin Chen.

A full bright smile, making Jin Chen happy and relieved as well. Although Yang Lifei had been behaving differently since yesterday, he was happy as long as she was willing to give him, them, a chance. He knew that her change was sudden but he had a feeling that it was a positive change.

"Of course Fei'er, as long as you're happy with that brat we're happy too. It's your happiness that matters," this time it was Master Jin that spoke. Although his face was cold, but his voice was rather soft and gentle. Even his eyes had gentleness in them. "And if he bullies you, just tell dad, I'll teach him a lesson for you."

These people all made her feel warm, what was wrong with her in her past life?

She had ignored all these wonderful people and even lost them at the long run, but this time was different, she was going to cherish these people.

"Of course father," Yang Lifei was very happy that even the stoic Master Jin was so gentle.

After lunch, Jin Chen and Yang Lifei insisted on going back to their apartment even after constant request from the Jin family members. Yang Lifei had an inkling that is she didn't open up to Jin Chen, things might not be so calm after some time. So she needed to tell things to Jin Chen without wasting time.

If he was to be together with her in this lifetime, then she'd rather they do it with trust rather than lies. She didn't want Jin Chen to one day awaken his memories of their past lives and think that she had deceived him into their marriage all along with ulterior intentions. That would break her heart and their relationship if it happened.

Seeing that Yang Lifei had insisted on going back, Jin Chen also put in a word for her. He knew that she had her reasons for wanting to go back even after much insistent from the elders. The Jin family saw that they insisted on going back so they let them but after they had agreed that they'll visit often at the Old Jin residence. Later, everyone parted ways to go back to their places.
