Chapter Fourteen

Jin Chen cleared his crazy thoughts for a while before striding towards Yang Lifei and sat next to her. He held on her hand that was holding onto the glass and looked at her gently. Yang Lifei raised her head and looked into Jin Chen's loving eyes and almost teared up again. But she held in her tears, she knew that if she started crying, she wouldn't stop.

"Fei Fei, you know you can talk to me, right?" His voice was low and a little shaky. He was even more nervous than Yang Lifei who was originally the person who wanted to talk.

"I know... I don't think you will believe whatever I say," even she had had a hard time to come into terms that she had been given a second chance. Such things, she had only read them in novels when she was in highschool, she didn't expect that someday, it'll come true and happen to her.

Here she was, reborn and seeing everyone that she had lost back then.

Would someone believe her that she had died but miraculously came back to life some years earlier into her life? She was worried that Jin Chen would not believe her. What if he took her to the lab so she could be studied by some scientists as a lab rat?

What if he took her to a mental hospital?

"Of course I'll believe you, if you don't tell me, how will you be sure that I will believe you?" Jin Chen smiled lightly at her as he took the glass in her hands and placed it on the coffee table. He even rubbed her hands to ease their nervousness (both).

"I...I... Do you believe in reincarnation?" Yang Lifei finally asked in a low voice but Jin Chen still heard what she said. She hoped that he could hear her because she didn't have the guts to repeat what she had just said, and fortunately, he did hear her.

"You mean..." Jin Chen didn't think that she would want to talk about reincarnation. But what did that have to do with what she wanted to tell him. Did she meet someone who is reincarnated? He didn't know where to think from.

"Yes, getting reborn. I...I'm..." But still she still couldn't bring herself to say it. She looked at Jin Chen nervously even biting her lips. She was reborn and had the momories of their past life but he didn't. It would be difficult for anyone to believe that such a thing could really happen to someone.

"You're reborn?" Jin Chen finally arrived at an answer seeing how fidgety she was and how she couldn't bring herself to say it.

"Yes," Yang Lifei replied weakly. She was glad that Jin Chen finally arrived at what she wanted to say because she couldn't find the right words to say about what happened to her.

"But if you're reborn, does that mean you died?" He only cared if she really died in the previous life that she had lived. If she had died, how did she die? And where was he when she died? Jin Chen could already feel the guilt well up in him.

"We died. We burnt to death," Yang Lifei found her voice shaky and trembling when she said this. She was there and had witnessed themselves burn to death. Even when talking, she could still feel the hot blazing fire burning her skin yet Jin Chen just kneeled there, covering her body and not making a sound.

Jin Chen saw her tremble and he brought her to his embrace hugging and rocking her back and forth. She mentioned 'we' does that mean they died together or that they definitely had a connection in their past life too?

Yang Lifei buried her head into Jin Chen's chest and started narrating what they had gone through in their past life.

As she continued talking, Jin Chen clenched his fist and hugged her even tighter. Why didn't he have the same memories as her?

He wanted to share what she had gone through with her.

How could she bear to talk about all these things and not get traumatized by them?

Why was he so useless that he couldn't even save her from such people?

"Sshh, that's enough Feifei," Jin Chen comforted her slowly with a strained voice. It was taking everything in him to keep himself sane, if not, he might kill someone.

"You believe me?" Yang Lifei asked in a muffled voice. Maybe he was just consoling her and did not believe whatever she said, she was worried still.

"Of course I believe you silly. As insane as it feels, I somehow find some things familiar like they really happened. When you were talking earlier,I could see some blurry images but whenever I wanted to focus on them, I'd feel a full pain in my head. And I can your pain love. How can I not believe you?" Jin Chen found it strange too. When she talked about the fire, he could hear a faint voice calling out her name, it sounded like his.

He really wished that he could have the same memories as her so she wouldn't be the only person being weighed down by such a huge load.

He even realized that he was really crazy. He had forced her and even tied her to himself in that life. He had clearly thought about it earlier but he didn't think that he had done it before. But thinking about it, if he had to, then he'd do the same thing again, except for forcing himself on her. For that part he really blamed himself.

How could he have the courage to do such a thing to her, even if it was because of a misunderstanding? Even if that was something that happened in their past life, he couldn't help but feel guilty. She might have been traumatized by his actions and that was why she was against him.

Yang Lifei had told Jin Chen everything that happened between them, even from the little things. She didn't want to keep anything from him that might cause a fight between them in the future if Jin Chen happened to have his memories back someday.

The memories and recounting them to Jin Chen had made Yang Lifei cry herself to sleep yet again.

Jin Chen carried her back to their room. Ever since she got reborn, she had been crying herself to sleep. Yang Lifei thought that her body was too weak to handle all the emotions acting up in her.
