Franklin Garcia was furious upon hearing this and glared at Elizabeth with disapproval, "You gave Alice Reyes such a large sum of money without discussing it with me first?"

When it comes to personal interests, Alice Garcia immediately turns back into Alice Reyes.

Elizabeth knew she was wrong and stammered, "Carl Edwards' parents are vulgar people who deliberately want to discredit Alice Garcia's reputation. I'm just thinking about her future prospects for marrying into a good family."

After speaking, she glanced at Jane with a mysterious expression.

With a furrowed brow and a cold gaze, Franklin Garcia stared at Alice Garcia and said, "We'll do as Jane suggested."

Both Elizabeth and Alice Garcia's faces stiffened, but seeing that Franklin Garcia had made up his mind, they had no choice but to accept it.

Alice Garcia quickly put on a grateful look and said, "Uncle, I recently got a variety show offer that pays a seven-figure sum. After finishing two episodes, I'll be able to pay back the money. Uncle, take care of your health and don't be angry."

Upon hearing that Alice Garcia could easily repay the money, Franklin Garcia's icy expression softened slightly. "It's not that I'm stingy, but you've gone too far. We can't hurt Jane's feelings."

Jane raised an eyebrow. She had cried and begged for help, only to get back what was rightfully hers and not even able to kick Alice Garcia out...

However, Alice Garcia did indeed poison the food when no one was around. The girl brought in by Aunt Xia was just someone paid to act the part. She had worked as a maid in Jane's house before and caught Franklin Garcia's eye a few times, but was later dismissed by Elizabeth on some pretext.

She only made empty threats when she said she would call the police.

The purpose of staging this scene was to determine whether Alice Garcia was the culprit, and also to see how far Elizabeth could defend her. Sure enough, she did not 'disappoint'!

With Elizabeth there, she had no solid evidence to bring Alice Garcia down. She could only think of another way later on.

"Alice Garcia, you still have to go to the filming set later. Quickly go and apply a cold compress on your face so as not to delay work," Elizabeth said as she saw Alice Garcia still kneeling. She took advantage of Franklin Garcia's softened expression to speak up.

In her words and tone, Alice Garcia just needed to work and she could quickly repay the money.

Franklin Garcia waved his hand and let Alice Garcia leave.

Jane took the opportunity to stand up and walk outside.

Outside the door, Aunt Xia was waiting for her. When she saw Aunt Xia, Jane's body softened. If it weren't for Aunt Xia's quick hands, she would have collapsed. "Jane."

Jane bit her lip hard and tried to stand steady despite her exhausted body. "Let's go back to the room first."

When she walked to the door, she saw Alice Garcia standing with a gloomy face, staring at her with malicious eyes. "My dear sister, is your voice ruined and your body broken? Look at you, weak and feeble, not even standing straight anymore."

Jane sneered, raised her hand and slapped Alice Garcia's face. Alice Garcia was surprised and stared at her. "You -"

"Remember, I will always have the strength to hit you." Her voice was broken, but it carried a sense of eeriness and strength.

Alice Garcia covered her face with her hand, gritted her teeth, and glared at Jane with hatred. "Don't be too proud. I will make you pay for the insult you gave me today."

Jane smiled, "Funny, the pain you gave me, I will also make you pay back."

Franklin Garcia could come out of the bedroom at any time. Alice Garcia snorted and angrily returned to her own room.

As soon as she left, Aunt Xia had to support Jane to walk back to the room. When she lay down on the bed, her clothes were soaked with sweat, and her hair was damp.

Aunt Xia brought water to help her wash while feeling sorry for her. "When will this poison be cleared out?"

Alice Garcia was so malicious that she had turned a perfectly fine person like Jane into this state. It was also Jane's fault for not being careful enough and not checking the ingredients properly.
