Outside, she slipped her dark sunglasses on.

The truck’s windows were rolled all the way down and in the back seat, Faulkner seemed to be enjoying the ride. Liam watched him in the rear view mirror. The dog had stuck his head out of the side window and his tongue was flapping in the wind.

Aside from the heavy loaded trucks here or there, the highway was empty and the drive was smooth. No rain in the forecast for days. They’d packed the trunk full with everything they’d need to make this trip stress-free. Liam had been camping for years. This was going to be a breeze.
