Prologue

"Dr. Jimenez kamusta po ang ate ko?" I suddenly stopped talking to my nurse when a little boy asked me how's his sister. I bent down so we could talk up close.

"The operation was successful little one, you can go to recovery area." I smiled and caressed his hair. 

I took my white coat off and placed my stethoscope aside. Ready to leave, but suddenly someone knocked and called my name.

"Dra. Jimenez, Dr. Cruz wants to see you." I was going to ask her why but she already left and helped the patient who's struggling to walk. I sighed and went to Dr. Cruz office. I'm here in the elevator, thinking and asking myself why i chose this path. Sa nag daang taon, palaging mabigat ang pakiramdam ng pag do-doctor para sa akin. I am doing it because I just don't want to waste my time studying pero sapat ba iyong dahilan o may iba pa? I won't deny but on the side of my heart, I want to do something that i love.

Bumukas ang elevator at tinahak ko ang office ni Dr. Cruz. I knocked two times before entering the room. 

I was stunned when I heard a familiar voice. My whole system suddenly stopped, as if I saw a ghost, a ghost from the past. And we both have the same reaction when our eyes met. 

"Finally! Dr. Jimenez, come and sit." My heart started to beat faster. I walked inside and sat in front of Dr. Cruz' desk. "This is our Medical director, Dr. Ruth Jimenez," said Dr. Cruz while looking at someone I already knew. "And Doctora, this is Engr. Miguel Santos the CEC Head Engineer, he will be the one who's in charged sa pagpapatayo ng ating hospital building sa Laguna." I don't know what to do, the air here became heavier and heavier as time goes by. I was hardly breathing so I tried my best to calm myself. I'm glad that Dr. Cruz broke the silence, he started to ask the engineer about the plans. 

I stared at him, he was wearing a dark blue button-down dress shirt with three buttons opened from the top, partnered with black slacks. I smirked when i noticed that he's still wearing the necklace that i gave to him. He glanced at me, maybe he noticed that I'm looking at him. I looked away, feeling uncomfortable. 

"So that's all pala? Okay thank you for your time, Engr. Just leave a message kung kailan natin sisimulan." Nilahad nito ang kaniyang kamay at malugod naman itong tinangggap. Nagulat ako ng tumingin siya sa gawi ko, hindi ko inaasahan yun!

"It's nice to meet you.... again." He gave me a genuine smile and handed me his hand. "Avery." I bit my lower lip and looked away, I feel so awkward right now. Dr. Cruz lips parted after hearing another version of my name. Pinabalik-balik niya ang tingin niya sa aming dalawa.

"Me too... Yvo." It was hard to say his name again. In just a blink, everything in the past flashed back.
