The attack on the pack lasted through the night. By dawn, smoking ruins marked places where proud buildings once stood. Despite their losses, the alliance had pushed back the rogues. For now.
Aurora watched as the pack's doctor handed a piece of paper to Alpha Eli. Three days had passed since the revelation about Tina, and they had rushed a DNA test while rebuilding their defenses.
"It's confirmed," the doctor said. "Ninety-nine point eight percent match. Tina is definitely your daughter, and Audrey was her mother."
Eli's hands trembled as he held the results. His eyes, red from lack of sleep and too many tears, moved from the paper to Tina, who stood nearby with her arms wrapped around herself.
"My daughter," he whispered. "All these years..."
Tina nodded slowly. She looked overwhelmed, like someone who had been hit by a wave they never saw coming.
"And my half-sister," Elias added. He stood near the doorway, his face unreadable.
