C43 - Level up

A woman held on to a baby with care and affection, the woman hummed a lullaby to the baby in her hands, her humming made the baby fall asleep, and as the baby slept the smile and happy expression on the woman's face disappeared replaced with sadness and tears dropped from her eyes as she looked at her son, no one knew what was going through her mind at the moment, she kissed the baby on his cheeks and whispered into his ear.

*Crack* *Crack*

Several cracks appeared around the woman and the baby fell into an endless abyss, the last time the baby saw was the pointy ears of the woman and her tear dropped on the baby's lips.

Shane jolted up from his bed with cold sweat all over his body, this breath heavy as if he had just run a Marathon, a sharp pain invaded his head, and he clenched his head in pain as he felt his brain being pricked by a thousand needles

After a far seconds the pain subsided, Shane saw the quest the system had issued and he was confused "What key, and how the heck am I supposed to find a person I only saw their ear" he asked the system, it was ridiculous for the system to issue such a stupid quest when he had no idea who or where the person was, how could he look for a person just by seeing their pointy ear.

Even if she was an Elf that only narrow down his search to about over a million Elves out there, even the side task looked absurd "Look for the woman under 5 years, how the fuck am I supposed to do that, might as well drain the ocean under five year" he complained.

Shane was a little skeptical about the system's response as it was the one that gave out the time bomb of a quest, that he must complete in under five years or he die "How" Shane asked.

[Firstly, the quest wasn't issued by the system, we were as surprised as you when an unknown entity somehow bypassed the system's security to place a quest that had a time limit and a death penalty if you failed the quest,

"so that's why I can't remember anything about this body's past, tsk... What if this quest wasn't even for me but the formal owner of the body because I am now in possession of the body, this is seriously annoying" he said, although he had decided to gain more power because of what he saw in the battle between the elf and the ant but he wanted to do that at his own pace and pleasure,

While having fun, but now he had five years to get stronger or else death would come looking for him, but there was nothing he could do about it so he pushed it to the back of his mind.

Since the attack from the ants, shane hadn't distributed his stats point even after absorbing the energy from the Mana crystals which instead of increasing his Mana turned into stats points now shane had to do so, he also wanted to join the Adventurers Guild before Eve and her family comes back to the Town as he was dead bored just sitting around.

Shane could just dump all his free stats points into intelligence but that would make him a glass cannon and he would be at a great disadvantage in close combat, even though he could not weld any weapon as a mage he could still hit with his hand.

"Add five points to strength, agility, and 11 points to intelligence" he made his decision, he would increase his stamina later when he had the chance.

Shane felt an energy surge within him, the feeling was so addicting, that it even affected his hormones, his little brother stood on alert as it was ready to attack but after a second Shane's body went back to normal.

"That felt nice, too nice for that matter," Shane said before calling out his status.

"Maybe I should have just dumped all of it into intelligence, even with all those points am still a level 4 [Mortal] Mage, how long will it take me to reach [Apprentice]" he was starting to regret his decision but no use crying over spilled milk especially when their was a flashing notification icon on his system screen, he clicked on the icon and several messages appeared.

He had no idea what getting a class was so he ignored it for now he opened the Spell tab

"That's crazy, it actually became a Spell, I fucking created a spell, bahahhahaha" Shane laughed "If I can use Mana for the attack then will I be able to use this Mystic energy but the amount is too low, I only have 11 points, system how can I increase my Mystic Energy do I have to meditate or what," he asked.

[Boy let me explain something to you, Mystic Energy is not something a mortal could ever dream of welding, To some people it's called the Source Energy meaning Mana, Magicka, Kai, and Zin come from it, it can't be acquired by mere Meditation, and the fact that your body could contain such energy without exploding is already a miracle]

Shane nodded to the system's explanation, but instead of the message the system was trying to pass shane had another idea in his mind 'If Mystic energy is the Source of Mana if I can learn how to convert it to Mana that will mean more Mana," Shane said, he couldn't control his excitement, if he could really do such a thing them it could mean unlimited mana.
