Chapter 40

I slice down another Grimm with my sword and fire a bolt of lightning at another coming at me. I look at the sky and see Elizabeth standing on top of her pods, sniping the Grimm in the distance.

"Elizabeth! How's the situation?!"

"Bad, Father! Three Goliat are coming at us! They are coming from the north!"

"Tch!"

Elizabeth and I fight against a horde of Grimm because we decide to take a mission from the guild. It was a village security mission. The mission said that the village expects thirty Grimm, but the mission card information is false.

We already killed at least seventy Grimm, and at least another thirty are coming at them right now. We are lucky that the village is being built on the edge of a cliff and has a thick wooden wall surrounding it.

Elizabeth and I only need to focus on one direction, and I can put my turret tightly together. However, even with all that, some of the Grimm still pass our guard and climb the wall.

"Sir! Another wave of Grimm coming from the east!"

I look at the young man next to me, who gasps for some air and nods my head. He and his group are the volunteers that I can gather to fight the Grimm. There were twenty volunteers, and only three of them did not have an Aura.

The ones that did not have an aura have a job as their healer and assistance. I already give them enough potions to heal the other seventeen.

"Very well. Group A! You can rest! Group B! Get back to fighting! Support! Refill the turret ammo! Group A! Help the support before you rest!"

"Yes, sir!"

Seeing them running toward the battlefield, I look at Elizabeth and say.

"Elizabeth, can you take care of the big guy?"

"Of course, father!"

"Good. I will cover your back for you."

After saying that, I take out my gun and change it into its machine gun mode. After changing it, I begin to fire a hot plasma at the flying Grimm in the sky.

"You think you can kill us?! Eat hot plasma, you bitch!"

Many people of the Kalekka village say that they will die from the Grimm attack. They know about the situation in a big city like Vale, and they know that not many Huntsmen want to accept the mission of protecting their little village from Grimm.

The negative emotion released from them gets even bigger when their scout comes back, informing them that the Grimm Wave started to get close and no Huntsman is taking the mission.

This negative emotion is the reason why the number of Grimm increased from the mission they posted.

They are already ready to accept their dead and prepare to send their young to the city of Vale. However, a few days before the fight, Angelo arrived in their village, and he had already accepted their mission.

He decided to take the mission instead of the one in Vale (Even when that mission had a bigger reward) as he thought that the people on the frontier needed him the most.

After hearing the situation, Angelo quickly created a defensive parameter. Put twenty turrets around the area and created a strategy for the volunteers that came with him. He even made a basic trap not too far away from the village. It did not do much, but it was good enough, especially with him having not much time before the Grimm arrived.

So here they are, fighting as one under Angelo's command. The people of Kalekka already know who Angelo is. He is a rather well-known huntsman, after all. Because of this, the people decide to obey every command coming from his mouth, and so far, their trust has never been broken.

They can hold their ground and even push back the Grimm. Some of the Grimm pass their defenses and injure them, but with the help of Angelo's potion, there is nothing big happening.

Right now, they are fighting against another horde of Grimm that is coming their way. Elizabeth takes care of Goliath using her charged attack, and Angelo deals with the flying Grimm that tries to knock his daughter down.

"Get away from my daughter, you creep!"

Angelo shouted while blasting the Creep that jumped toward Elizabeth.

"Tch. It looks like those Goliath sending the smaller Grimm to attack Elizabeth after seeing their comrade die from her attack."

Angelo wants to blast those Goliath with his own charged attack, but he needs quantity instead of quality right now. If he uses his charged attack, he can kill two Goliath simultaneously, but he needs to wait for a minute so he can use his weapon again.

He cannot have that. He can use his magic to blast those Grimm, but he does not want to use what he already showed to the others. Angelo already told and led the people of Kalekka that he has a 'semblance' that releases a thunderbolt from his hands. He did not want to show them his other ability without raising a few questions.

"Take this!"

Angelo changes his weapon to its Rocket Launcher form and blasts the incoming Alpha Creep that tries to climb the wall. After firing his rocket launcher, Angelo looks at Group B, who is still resting behind him.

"Group A! I need you to blast the Boarbatusk underneath us! There are thirty of them!"

While Group B defends the eastern part of the wall, Angelo orders Group A, who only rests for a few minutes, to attack the Grimm that is trying to destroy the wall. However, instead of complaining, they do it quickly and begin to fire their weapon at the Grimm underneath them.

While Group A kills the Boarbatusk, Angelo changes his weapon into the machine gun once again and kills the incoming ten Lancer.

Elizabeth fired another laser of destruction and hit another Goliath right in the head, killing one more Goliath and leaving one more to kill. She takes out her chakram and helps her father fight the Grimm on the ground while waiting for her weapon to recharge.

However, it was not needed. Seeing all of its comrades die, the Goliath decided to retreat. A large amount of negative emotion coming from Kalekka is not enough to overpower its survival instinct.

With the last Goliath running away, the number of Grimm coming at Kalekka stops getting bigger. The never-ending Grimm finally stops and leaves only a few dozen of Grimm. That is an easy number for them.

In a matter of three minutes, they were able to kill the last thirty-five Grimm.

Seeing there is no more Grimm left, Angelo gives a tired smile and raises his hand before shouting.

"UOHHH!"
