Long Day Ahead

"come on were almost there!" Aaron said said as he sped off leaving Matilda behind. She started to jog to catch up to him. Aaron suddenly stopped, Til slowed down and stopped just behind him. "were here" he whispered sweetly. Til looked ahead to see the stream. She ran ahead trying to get to it from excitement. Aaron watched her long brown hair that was at butt length complimented by her light gray hoodie and black baggy pants. Til squatted down next to the flowing stream looking for anything she could mend into something else to help them. And what do you know a nice firm piece of string was stuck on a rock just next to the stream. "Found it!" Til called out to Aaron. "great let's head back to the cave and go from there" Aaron replied. Once Matilda heard him say that she stood up and jogged over to him, they walked together in silence till they reached the cave. "So which way do you want to go?" Aaron asked looking down at Til. "I'm not too sure, I guess we can go the opposite direction of the way we came" Til said as she looked forward. "Sounds good" Aaron said. Quickly they found a section of denser forest. "I think this one is bendy" Aaron said as he bent down to pick a stick up, Til stopped to see if it was. Aaron slowly bent the stick. Though the stick was medium sized it bended just as well as the thin ones. "Perfect" Matilda said as excitedness flowed through her veins. "great!" Aaron said smiling, smiling for Aaron was rare but with Til around he couldn't help it. They walked back unlike before they couldn't help but talk to each other, making jokes, facts about trees/flowers and just talking in general. Once they reached the cave, they sat as Til tried to make her bow. It didn't help with Aaron watching her every move but she didn't want to be rude and ask for him to leave, plus he was amazing company. "I'm gonna get some sticks for the fire tonight" Aaron said,Til looked up at Aaron with a surprised face, "if you start collecting sticks now by tonight you'll have enough the entire year!" Til laughed, "haha I wish, but no sadly" he replied as he stood up "bye see ya later" he said as he walked off. once he was almost out of sight she sighed she always tried to not get overly stressed at stuff but it never worked she just ends up frustrated and sad. She manged to tie both ends of the string, the string was the perfect size for it. By the time she did this Aaron was back to dump some wood of at the cave. "How's it going?" he asked as he walked by carrying a stack of around 20 piece's of firewood. "great now I gotta make arrows" Til said as Aaron dropped the pile of wood next to the cave. "Sounds fun, I'll get somemore wood" Aaron said as he sprinted away. Til stood up and walked into the cave, she sat down next to her backpack she ripped it open to receive her scrap book about plants and rocks. She flipped through several pages. Til was looking for the page about pond stones. Despite these name they weren't found around ponds they got this name from melting around fire easily, making great stone weapons. Once she found the picture she knew it was that page. she read each word carefully. - found in most forest - she read - blue orchids grow near them - "Perfect I saw some near here" Til said smiling as joy spread within her. She raced outside the cave to where the orchids were and almost instantly found pond rocks. she scooped up as many of them as she could see. she got around 5 before continuing. She wanted to see if her plan would work before grabbing them all. She walked back to where she sat her bow down and sat next to it. She wanted to have a little break before continuing making arrows. "Hey nice rocks" said a happy voice, Matilda looked up to Aaron again carrying wood. "haha hey Aaron" she said she couldn't admit it but she was becoming very fond of him being around. he dumped the wood into the pile before running off to get more. After he left Til stood up and wondered around looking for short sticks. once she grabbed six thick short sticks she headed into the cave, to once again reach into her bag. She pulled out a small pocket knife, with a black handle and sharp point. She started to shave the point of one stick until it was sharp and pointy. Now came the hard part she had to make a very small slit at the other end for the string to slide into. She focused super hard on immediately after it was done she raced back with the newly cut arrow in hand to the bow, she grabbed the bow and tried to slide the Arrow in but the slit was too big that the string didn't support it well, so she threw the arrow into the lake. and walked back to the cave to try again - this is why I grabbed six sticks - she thought to herself. she re-did the process again and made an even smaller slit and tried again. And it slid in perfectly. - Great! I'll just do that 4 more times - she thought as she started to run towards the cave. After around thirty minutes later all five arrows were done. Now it was time to test them. she loaded one of the arrows onto the bow, the bow even had a nub for the arrow to sit on while aiming. Til sat the arrow into the nub and pulled the string back 'whoosh' the arrow flew in the air and to Tils surprise shot straight onto the cave before bounces off onto the ground. "Planning to raid the cave huh?" said a fammilar voice. Til spun around to see Aaron standing carrying the wood as expected. He had a handsome smirk on his face. "Ha yep" she laughed carefully sitting the bow on the ground. she walked up to Aaron and took half of the wood he was carrying and they both walked to the stash of wood and dropped all the wood they been carrying. Aaron looked at the sun as it started to set. "Let's watch the sunset" Aaron said glancing back at her. Tils face lit up with excitement, couldn't wait. "Great idea!" she said. "come I'll show you a special spot" Aaron said gesturing for her to hold his hand and walk with him. Til face went red she was blushing, she grabbed Aaron's hand an hopped he wouldn't notice. Aaron gazed at her every now and then as they walked, Til was mesmerized by the beautiful scenery amoung them. She looked ahead to see a cliff. "this is it" Aaron said with a smile. he walked after and tugged at her hand to start jogging with him, only then did she realize she was holding his hand the whole time. They jogged together to the cliff, while still holding hands. She was mesmerized by the beautiful sunset, Aaron gazed at Til as sun shine brought out her beautiful eyes and shined on her hair. "Wow" was all Matilda could gasp out "it's...beautiful" She whispered to Aaron, he smiled glad that she liked it. They sat down at the cliff edge and watched the sun lower itself. "we should start heading back to the cave, and make a fire" Aaron said looking at Til. Til liked this idea she could finally test her idea of melting pond rocks on her sharp arrows.
