Goblins

The days itself felt long, training for eighteen hours every day without much rest, but the month had passed surprisingly quickly.

Before I knew it the one month long training schedule was completed, and every single goal that I had set out or achievement that I wanted to get had been completed. I even got a few achievements along the way that I hadn't accounted for.

Before the training started, Yasuo had a skinny physique. With a height of only 168 centimetres, he weighed under 50 kilos and looked underweight. But now, having finished the monthlong training, he has developed a lean muscular physique.

Yasuo's muscles are now toned and clearly visible, while his overall appearance is not bulky. A symmetrical, aesthetic look with a relatively flat, but well-sculpted chest. With a slim waist where his abdominal muscles are now visible and the arms, shoulders, and legs are also lean and defined, with visible muscle separation.

Complementing his newfound physique, are the stats that have risen significantly from all the achievements that Yasuo obtained.

With these stats and Yasuo's physique, he had become incomparably stronger than the him before.

Having completed the one month long training schedule, Yasuo had set out for another goal. This one being much more challenging and dangerous.

'I think I am ready for it. I have become stronger, I have become more skilful and there is a goal that is in line with this.'

'It is finally time to go into the 'Portals' and fight monsters!'

The next goal that Yasuo had set for himself was to defeat 5.000 goblins. This was a goal that he had to enter portals for and it is the next requirement for evolving the dagger of evolution.

Yasuo was nervous but excited to enter the portals and finally being able to fight monsters and start his journey to revenge his parents, but it was going to be more difficult than it looked.

Because Yasuo doesn't have an awakener license, he can't enter portals. Having become an awakened he can get an awakener licence, but because he is underage he wouldn't be allowed inside dungeons.

That meant that there was only going to be one option, finding portals that were not registered by the awakener association yet and going in them illegally.

For this, Yasuo had been gathering information that would be useful. Apparently, the association doesn't look for new portals in the night, so that would be the perfect time to go out and find portals to enter.

Having prepared as much as he could with the recourses that Yasuo had, he set out in the middle of the night.

Leaving the city, he entered the vast forest. It was rumoured that more portals appeared in forests, so that would be the perfect place to look for them.

Wandering for quite some time, Yasuo sees some light in the forest and walks towards it. And lo and behold there was a portal in front of him.

'So this is what a portal looks like.'

As Yasuo approached the portal, he felt a sense of awe at the sight of the portal and thinking about what lies beyond. The portal itself was pitch black, like looking into an infinite void. Surrounding it was a bright white aura that was humming with energy, giving off an ominous feeling.

'This white light can only mean one thing. An F-rank portal with goblins inside of it.'

*You can determine different portals from their colour, white meaning an F-rank portal. In F-rank portals, the only monsters that can be found are goblins.*

Having found the portal he was looking for, Yasuo mentally prepared himself before stepping into it.

Feeling a tingling sensation as he went through the threshold of the portal, he soon found himself in a completely different dimension.

Yasuo was standing in the middle of a forest just like he was before. At first glance there didn't seem to have changed much, but he knew for sure he wasn't on earth anymore.

The forest in this different dimension might have looked similar to Earth's forests, with trees and lush undergrowth, but upon closer inspection, there were distinct differences that set it apart from anything found on Earth.

The trees had a peculiar shape, with twisted trunks and iridescent leaves and the sky above the forest was a daker blue than on earth.

But there was no time to admire these differences, as the forest was probably hiding goblins in it. Yasuo quickly put up his guard and started manoeuvring through the forest looking for goblins, being the hunter instead of the prey.

Stealthily walking through the tall grass in the forest, Yasuo spots an empty patch of land with two goblins standing on it.

Yasuo's heart started pounding, every heartbeat could be heard echoing through his ears. Hiding behind a tree, it had finally become a reality.

There was nothing standing in his way anymore to actually fight monsters and officially become a hunter.

Mentally preparing to attack the two goblins in front of him, Yasuo stops his hand from shaking and grips his dagger tightly.

'[Mana barrier activate]' with a little bit of his mana, Yasuo creates a small mana barrier around him.

The goblins weren't paying attention to Yasuo. 'This is the time' Yasuo thought.

Lunging from behind the tree, Yasuo runs straight toward the goblin to the right. The goblin still hadn't noticed Yasuo and had its back turned towards him. Filled with adrenaline and his heart beating outside his chest, Yasuo was now within distance and took his chances.

*Slash*

Yasuo swung his dagger horizontally, just like he had practiced so many times. Before the goblin could even react, his head had left its body.

Seeing his head fall on the ground, Yasuo gained a sense of arrogance. 'This is easier than I thought.'

Not having paid attention for just a second, the second goblin jumped towards him. The goblin stabbed its sword at Yasuo, hitting his barrier and being deflected.

Out of a sense of danger, Yasuo stepped back, creating distance between the goblin and him.

The arrogance that he just felt faded away and he remembered that he was on a battlefield, where one wrong move could cost you your life.

Taking a deep breath, Yasuo regained his composure and started assessing the situation.

'There is one goblin in front of me with a sword. I am not hurt, have enough stamina and my mana barrier is still up. If I do what I practiced, I can do this.'

Having gained confidence, Yasuo starts running towards the goblin.

Taking outs its sword, the goblin swung. It was a poor and wide swing, which Yasuo easily parried before stabbing the goblin in its heart. Pulling his dagger out, Yasuo jumped back.

The goblin began to falter, before falling to the ground.

Yasuo could finally relax. With the adrenaline now gone, his legs felt weak and he sat down.

'That was dangerous, from now on I shouldn't lose concentration with an enemy in front of me. I can't believe I have to do this about a hundred more times.' Yasuo thought, catching his breath.

*In general, an F-Rank portal has around 100 goblins in it*

After a few minutes, Yasuo had caught his breath and had formulated a plan going forward. He wouldn't fight goblins if they were in a group of three or more and he would target the strongest looking goblin first with a sneak attack.

With this plan in mind, Yasuo began moving forward in search of more goblins.

Not long after, Yasuo encountered two more goblins that were walking towards him. One goblin was holding a dagger and the other one was unarmed.

Sticking to his plan, Yasuo waited before they had walked passed him.

Now with their backs towards Yasuo, he jumps out of the bushes and slashes at the neck of the goblin holding the dagger. Yasuo didn't manage to cut the goblin's head of completely, but he knew that it wouldn't survive such an attack and quickly shifted his focus on the other goblin.

Unlike last time, the goblin didn't have time to prepare and Yasuo was the one to attack first this time. Lunging towards the unarmed goblin, Yasuo takes a quick step to the right before he slashes the goblin. Without even having put up a fight, the second goblin was defeated.

This time, everything went according to plan and Yasuo immediately moved on to find more goblins to hunt.

Sticking to the plan he had made, Yasuo only attacked groups of two goblins. And with every single hunt, it became easier. Now having become proficient at it, the goblins didn't even have the time to react. Within around two hours, Yasuo had successfully hunted fifty goblins.

'If I continue at this pace, it would at least take another two hours to complete the portal. It is also becoming increasingly more difficult to find goblins in groups less than three'

Not wanting to take too long in the portal and risking the association seeing him coming out of a portal, Yasuo had to speed up his hunting.

'I didn't want to do this until I became a little more comfortable, but I think it is time I also started hunting goblins in groups of three!'
