Vol 3 Chapter 14: Carting part 2

Linyer quickly placed the crystal beside her; then she slightly shook her hand and even blew some cold air at it.

"It seems you two have a bit larger storage than it seems."

Foin spoke up after a few long seconds as his gaze shifted from the crystal to Linyer's eyes. He deliberately tried to give a brave expression because he had a feeling that maybe his inventory skill was not that common. And it was easier to just gather information regarding that small pouch.

"Yes... It was a gift from my mother... This pouch has a powerful magic imbue that helps me carry more items around. I am still a long way from reaching this level, though..."

The girl replied with a light chuckle at the end, which sounded more nervous than cheerful. It seemed that both Linyer and Foin were quite nervous. Foin was nervous because he had to move to an unknown land and territory without any prior knowledge due to his reckless and quick decision-making.

Linyer was agitated due to pressure from her mother. She had a serious responsibility, not only escorting Foin to her mother but also trying to repay his kindness. As she was unaware of the human being's true power and capabilities, she needed to act carefully.

"I was thinking... Linyer, if you don't mind... I am quite new in the area... Seeing how I have met an ant, a dragon and a goblin... How many humans live around here?"

Foin asked after a few minutes of silence. He was looking out the window and staring at the snow-covered forest. As far as he could see, there were trees with massive snow toppings. It seemed as if the leaves stayed on the trees entirely, and they now held the snow together as a large blob.

"Well... On this continent... Humans..."

The girl stuttered, not knowing how to respond. She knew that on the continent, every human being whom they knew about was subjugated and was no more than a slave; however, knowing that Foin was also human, she didn't quite feel like saying that out loud. Instead, she came up with a diversion.

"Well, I don't really see them often. But I do know that there is another continent populated mostly by humans, though we don't have a good relationship with them."

"You don't often see THEM hm..."

Foin mumbled, understanding that the girl sitting before him, despite looking human-like, was not human at all. It gave him the impression that maybe the location they were travelling to was filled with new beings unknown to him.

This both made him slightly excited and nervous as well. Although Linyer in front of him didn't seem that evil, his feelings were greatly influenced by the fantasy stories he had read. In those, humans and most other races were almost in some sort of conflict against each other.

As he was lost in thoughts, he once again rubbed Énilo's head gently and then sighed as he finally looked back at Linyer's crystal. He noticed that the cart seemed to have gotten slightly warmer as his face was no longer that cold.

"Foin... Can I ask what someone of your status and power usually does? I am quite curious, to be honest."

The girl asked as she looked into Foin's eyes at first. Then, her gaze slowly shifted down to Énilo, who was silently sitting on Foin's thigh and enjoying his gentle massage with a broad smile. However, as soon as Linyer looked at her, she glared back at her.

"Someone of my status and power? Do you mean an average human? Well, I am just a farmer. I enjoy tending to my garden and increasing the number of plants I can grow... As well as slowly building out my area during my leisure time."

Foin replied with a sigh. He slowly leaned completely against the back of the cart and put his hands beside him, making Énilo pout after he had removed his hand from her head.

"Oh, I see... Well, On our way, we will need to stop by a town, so if you are interested, we could go look around; perhaps someone still has some seeds to sell..."

Linyer replied with a slightly forced smile. She tried to appeal to Foin. However, she could just say that they only ate meat due to her mother's strange and quite stupid order. She wasn't even sure that any sane person would even have seeds, as it has been quite some time since this new plan was issued.

"That would be great! Thanks!"

Foin spoke up with great enthusiasm; however, suddenly, something unbelievable transpired before his eyes.

"You have gained 1 Experience Point and 1 Point."

"You have gained 1 Experience Point and 1 Point."

"You have gained 1 Experience Point and 1 Point."

At first, three notifications appeared, but as soon as they faded, dozens, if not hundreds, of notifications popped up stating the exact same thing as the first three. Such a large number appeared that the usually transparent panels completely blocked his vision. He could just barely see Liyner's form in front of him.

The dense layer of windows slowly started disappearing. Foin was so stunned that he could only blink rapidly, and then he even rubbed his eyes. Eventually he ended his stunned stat by shaking his head.

"Congratulations! You have levelled up. Required Experience Points increased! All Stats have increased by 1! Ability Points increased by 1!"

Another well-known text popped up in front of him. It was unexpected, to say the least. He didn't harvest anything, and he had already confirmed that he was only given Experience Points and Points when either he or Énilo harvested a product.

Since both he and Énilo stayed together and did not harvest or do anything at all that could have caused something like the previous tsunami of panels, he was puzzled.

Even if Gobu's harvests were counted, that couldn't cause such a number to appear. Also, she could not harvest this many times to achieve this number.

"What could have happened? Also, it was only one Point. I will need to dig into this once I get back home... Not that I am complaining!"

Foin thought to himself, and in the end, he even smiled.
