A Ripple in Time

Several hundred years ago, an anomaly occurred. Distortions of the natural terrain began to spring up in the world of Eron as monsters spewed out of these distortions.

The distortions altered regions into inhospitable lands, suitable only for the creatures that flowed out of the distortions which would soon be known as Ripples.

Environments would differentiate drastically as once Ripples appeared, the immediate area would near instantaneously acclimated to the former lives of these monsters.

Any original life within the vicinity of the intruding Ripples would mysteriously disappear as once grassy, fertile lands transformed into barren wastelands, scorching deserts, mystifying lakes, and mountainous lands.

The expanse of Ripples ranged from a few meager meters to thousands of kilometers. Both the terrain as well as creatures progressively escalates in severity as it gets closer to the Ripple.

While the environments proved hazardous enough, the monsters that reside within these territories yielded far greater dangers than the environment.

From simple horned rabbits to slimes, these monsters were not to be trifled with. Despite the life-threatening dangers, the raw materials and mana crystals were invaluable in the centuries following the appearance of the Ripples.

The surge of mana imbued monsters had introduced the concept of magic to Eron, giving humans a fighting chance through the utilization of mana.

Historians would date the appearance of the Ripples as Year 0, the beginning of Humanities' struggle.

Upon analyzing Sen's status, the priest was aghast. Swiftly, she made her way to his parents and muttered to them.

"I've never seen anything like your son. He might be the first person to have traits like these." "I knew our son is special! Now pay up Rane." Phara exclaimed. As Rane began searching for a silver, the priestess interjected, "Here, look at his status before anything else."

Upon viewing Sen's status, both Phara and Rane were mortified. Phara shrieked as she saw 1 HP while Rane began scouring for Sen.

After finding Sen, Rane rushed home with Phara and Sen.

The family gathered at the dining table when Sen asks, "Is something wrong, am I in trouble?" Phara instantaneously tries to reassure Sen that he's not in trouble. "It's just that, you're a bit special."

"Special? How?" asks Sen. Not wanting to scare Sen, Rane tells Sen, "Hey buddy, can you say status?" But as Phara tries to intervene, Sen says, "Stat—" "Sen no! Rane, bring Sen to his bed!" Phara cried.
