Chapter 13

Ulric stood on the other side of their door and brought up the holographic screen. He clicked on his friend list and scrolled down. He stopped at the name he wanted and clicked on it. He proceeded to write the message.

Mac,

We have an issue here. Chad beat up Jesse really badly, and he's got the injuries to prove it. If you don't do something about this, I will. If I take care of this problem, there'll be a corpse when I'm done.

Ulric

Ulric received a reply five minutes later.

Ulric,

Don't do anything stupid. I need you to have a clear head. I'm on my way with the doctor. We'll get him treated, and then we'll deal with Mr. Carlson.

Mac

Ulric did his hardest not to explode as he headed back inside. Jesse was still hidden under the covers. Ulric cleaned up the mess from when their breakfast landed on the floor. He didn't touch anything else because evidence might be needed. Mac showed up at 2 p.m., with Dr. Ramos following behind.

"This place looks like a tornado hit it," Mac said.

"Yeah, a tornado named Chad," Ulric said. "So, what will you do about that bastard?" he asked while the doctor coaxed Jesse out from under the covers.

When Ulric heard Jesse's cries and whimpers, he wanted so badly to run up and hold him in his arms. Whenever the doctor touched a sensitive spot, which was almost all over his body, Jesse screamed in pain.

"I want Chad to pay for what he did," Ulric said, walking back over to him.

"Does he still think you two belong together?" Mac asked.

"Yeah, and now Jesse is in the middle of it," Ulric said, nodding his head. "I've told Chad that I'm not interested," he said.

The doctor turned around and walked up to them. "He's got some really bad bruises and cuts," she said. "I have given him pain pills and a sedative," she added.

"We need to deal with the culprit," Mac said.

"I recommend having someone stay with him while you do that," the doctor advised.

"I can ask Neil from the hotel to come over," Mac said.

"I'm leaving a bottle of pain pills," she said. "Two pills every 4-6 hours, no more than that," she added.

"Thank you, doctor," Mac said. Mac lightly brushed away the bangs that covered Jesse's closed eyes.

Mac pulled up his holographic screen and located Neil's name.

Neil,

We have an issue here at the training ground dorms and need your assistance. I need you to stay with Jesse while Ulric and I deal with one of the other students. I'll explain further when you get here.

Mac

While they waited, Mac took photos of the room in shambles and of Jesse's wounds with his holographic screen. Mac could tell by his body language that Ulric was about to punch someone or something. He stepped up and placed a hand on Ulric's shoulder.

"I'm sorry that this happened," Mac said. "He'll get punished, I promise," he said. Mac turned his head when he heard a soft cough near the door. Neil stood at the entrance and motioned for him to come out.

"I'll be in the hallway," Mac said to Ulric.

Mac stepped into the hallway and closed the door a crack. "Okay, what happened?" Neil asked, glancing at the door.

"Do you remember Chad Carlson?" Mac asked.

"The kid that's obsessed with Ulric?" Neil asked, rubbing his chin. "What about him?" he asked.

"Well, his obsession and jealousy got the best of him," Mac said. "He beat up Jesse rather badly," he said.

"Is he going to be okay?" Neil asked.

"The doctor tended his wounds and sedated him," Mac said. "I need you to stay with him while Ulric and I deal with Chad," he said.

Mac opened the door, and the two men walked inside. Mac stepped up to Ulric and said, "It's time." The blonde lightly squeezed Jesse's bruised hand and stood up.

"If he wakes up by the time we get back and is in pain, give him two of these," Ulric said, pointing to the bottle.

"You deal with that idiot," Neil said. "I'll watch over him," he said.

"Thank you," Ulric said, letting out a shaky breath.

Mac and Ulric headed down the hall to Chad's room. When they arrived, Mac knocked on the door. The door opened, and a short redhead male appeared before them.

"Devin, we need to talk with Chad," Mac said. The redhead glanced over his shoulder and yelled, "Chad, you've got company!"

"What the fuck?" Chad grumbled, walking into the room. "I was about to take a shower," he said, holding a towel around him.

"Your shower can wait," Mac said. "We have something to discuss with you," he said.

"And what's that?" Chad asked while sitting in a chair.

"About you and your problem with Jesse," Mac said.

"I don't have a problem with him," Chad lied.

"These photos tell me otherwise," Mac said, opening up his screen and pulling up the photos.

"You can't prove that it was me," Chad sneered.

"He couldn't have done that to himself and that room," Mac said.

Devin walked up to them and looked at the pictures. "You told me you were only going to scare him, not hurt him," he said.

"Shut up, you little shit!" Chad snarled.

"What do you know about this?" Mac asked.

"Sir, he told me that he was only going to scare him because he thought the guy was a threat," Devin said.

"You traitor!" Chad hissed.

"I'm sorry about your friend," Devin said.

"Mr. Carlson, pack your things because you're expelled for a month," Mac said. "Thank you, Devin, for being honest with us," he said.

Devin followed Mac and Ulric into the hallway. "I tried talking him out of it, really I did," he said. "Please don't punish me," he begged.

"I'm not going to punish you," Mac said. "Thanks to you, we got the evidence we needed," he said.

"Ulric, please keep me updated on your friend," Devin said.

"I will, and thank you," Ulric said, nodding his head.

"Dean, sir, I am wondering if I can transfer to a new room." Devin asked. "I don't want to be in that room when he comes back," he said.

"I'll look into it and message you," Mac said. "Stay in my office until he's gone," he said.

"Thank you, sir," Devin said.

Mac and Ulric headed back to Jesse to check on him. Neil had just finished giving him another dose of pain pills when they arrived.

"Hi," Neil said, standing up. "How did it go?" he asked.

"Better than expected," Mac said. "His roommate helped us," he said.

"How's Jesse?" Ulric asked.

"He woke up and was in pain," Neil said. "I had just given him medicine, and he just fell asleep," he said.

"I'm sorry for dragging you into this mess," Ulric apologized.

"It's alright," Neil said. "Friends help each other," he said. Ulric felt better because he didn't want to lose Jesse.
