The world always kept advancing with the help of humanity in good ways but others very bad.
It could be very good for the world itself but some could end up bad for humanity.
The opposite could also be true.
Sometimes the progression of humanity could work in ways that humans would be able to live equally among nature.
Sometimes nature evolved in ways that allowed it to fight back or disasters happened as a result of such advancements being made.
Natural resources would run out eventually and then it would be far more difficult for humans to find a way to survive.
All kinds of results could result in the rise or fall of humanity and the improvement or decline of nature.
Humans needed to find a way to survive with what they had while making those various advancements.
New methods to utilize resources would be found and new resources could be uncovered allowing for new directions to be taken.
The modern age was a time when some things were a lot simpler.
Technology was a lot less complex and the division between the rankings of humanity was far less spread out.
A new age was born as humanity began progressing toward a new area of development.
The age of cybernetic modifications and enhancements brought about that era.
As the cybernetic advancements were constantly being pushed forward, it allowed for those in power to keep advancing at the cost of others.
The powerful and wealthy held most of the power as they kept pushing for advancements to be made.
Those advancements came at the cost of the less powerful masses who were struggling to live and make their survival ability a little better in the chaotic world that had been created.
If someone wanted the power to survive and thrive in the era that existed then they needed the modifications.
Those modifications cost a lot of money and they came with risks.
Any malfunctions could happen once mechanical parts were introduced into the human body.
With each advancement came new capabilities being unlocked increasing the destructive power of the modifications that humans could undergo.
The main issue with them was the compatibility they had with the human body.
The body and mind of those undergoing modifications could only take so much before the body or mind broke down causing all kinds of bad results.
The more modifications a person underwent or the more powerful the modifications they gained, the higher the risk was related to the person using them.
The people in power could advance their newest and more deadly creations by testing them on the masses who desperately needed them to go after what they desired.
Some humans would get modifications that could increase their strength or let them be able to endure bullets while others would be able to let them fire big enough blasts that could cause a lot of destruction.
All kinds of functions were available depending on what type of body modification was used and how many were used.
Some could complement some other modifications in various ways while others could conflict with them.
It came at the cost of many lives to test and perfect such cybernetic advancements to allow for them to be developed further and perfected.
Some special people existed who could live with greater enhancements than others because of their higher compatibility and tolerance but eventually, the people at the bottom would be the ones to suffer as the richer and powerful people gained much more power and control.
If everything kept going the way it was, it would not be long before humans would have ended up destroying themselves.
Perhaps the path they were on was one where they would either survive as beings that were more machine than human or their minds and bodies would have long been corroded turning them into rampaging and malfunctioning creations of their own making.
In a large laboratory that a single person worked inside, a scientist was working tirelessly.
They continued to look over the data provided by the tests performed before typing on the computer and making all kinds of commands.
The scientist was a genius who had made many advancements in cybernetic research and had been developing technology related to nanotechnology and other fields of study.
They were pursuing a way for humans to be able to find a way out of the current destructive path they were on where it was constantly testing the boundaries and limitations that humanity could endure for the sake of gaining more power and advancements.
What he sought after was a way for humanity and cybernetics to reach a stage where it could be compatible and still allow for humans to keep their humanity.
If he was successful then it could end up creating a whole new era where cybernetics could be replaced.
Many others would not wish to see such a thing happen or they would be the ones who would want to take control of such a thing so they could be the ones to guide how humanity would progress.
Large metallic doors opened up causing several cybernetically enhanced people to enter as they quickly cornered the scientist in their laboratory. "Dr Victor, do you realize what you have done?!"
The scientist was held down showing pain but there was no remorse in his eyes. "You guys have held the power for far too long and have been misusing it. It is about time that the power went back into the hands of everyone."
After completing the final part of his research, Dr Victor wasted no time in releasing it onto the world.
It would come with many changes whether it was good or bad but he believed that it was the best result that he could think of.
It was a lot better than having his invention monopolized by only certain individuals or being destroyed so that those people could protect their interests.
A finely dressed man with more refined and compact cybernetic body enhancements walked forward showing a displeased look. "Dr Victor... you held such great promise but you betrayed the organization in such a way. This cannot be forgiven even if you are so very useful."
The scientist remained where he was as he was forced into a kneeling position.
There was no regret shown on his face as a bullet passed through his body followed by another ending his life.
His actions brought about a great change in the world in many ways.
The nanoparticles that he released into the world began to take shape in all parts of the world.
Some settled within humanity while others took unexpected results that the scientist could never have imagined as it was not just humanity that evolved as a result of them being introduced to them.
Animals and plants started to be affected by what had been released causing them to behave strangely and causing some among them to exhibit certain traits that let them perform feats that were impossible before.
What was even more disturbing was how those creatures began to show signs of evolving and growing stronger as time passed.
The Cybernetic Era soon became obsolete as a new threat began to emerge and humanity had to take on a whole new direction if they wished to survive.
While some cybernetic advancements had been made to combat the threat, the risks involved were still far too high and the rate of progress toward making something more useful could not catch up to the growth of the threat.
Some cities were laid waste causing some human settlements to be lost along with many lives.
That was until humanity started to find that they had the potential within them to fight back.
