RISE OF THE FRAGMENTS

…“Why haven’t you made any progress,” a gruff voice came from under a tall figure in a cloak. “We are trying, but the place is more secured than we thought,” a young, slim man stated, the unmasked fear written all over his face said more than his panicked voice. “AAAHHH!!,” a heart wrenching scream tore out from his mouth before his hands raised reflexively to pull out the dagger in his chest, but he was too late. He fell down, twitching vigorously as black fumes came out of his mouth, his screams slowly dimming down. The fumes gathered together to form a dark skull floating over his still convulsing body. A hand reached out from within the cloak, and clasped the skull. With a resounding snap, it was crushed into dust which slowly dissipated. The body stopped moving instantly, and the skin started to decay at a speed visible to the eye. In no time, all that remained was a skeleton with dark smoke coming out of it, and only a little amount of skin attached to it. A small puddle of blood was formed beneath the body, and the stench pervaded the dimly lit room. The man in the cloak raised his head to look at the few men gathered in the room. They looked like men of war, hardened by countless battles. One of them stepped forward. He had a large sword across his back, and his eyes were expressionless looking at the man in the cloak. “We are still in progress, but now we have some leads, and that might help us get it faster. It might be with the family we killed. Some clues point that the girl’s still alive, and that might be good depending on where she is, and the people she knows. She can’t be strong at such an age, and will have to depend on those around her.” The man in the cloak stayed still, for some time before turning around “don’t disappoint me,” he said and walked out, leaving the door open. Right after the man left, the man with the broadsword smiled mischievously. “His body started to transform, taking the form of an attractive, young male. “Send a message to our friends. Tell them the gears are shifting in our favor,” he said. His green eyes flashed dangerously.

THE DAY 2

The tour came to an end, but then they were to continue on another through town, Hordin declined.

He decided to go back to his room; at least he would feel safer in that place.

He thought of who this follower might be coming from, whether it was from the Bones or this kingdom, and his assumptions were more inclined towards the Vermillion Kingdom.

The Bone Kingdom's followers or trackers had a different aura about them, so he was sure it was either the Vermillion Kingdom itself or one of the guests.

The King himself acted as though he found him interesting, so he found it of no surprise he was being tailed. He went back, but then when he arrived, he found no trace of the nasty old man, and that was strange.

He ignored the feeling that something was off and went to his room, but the moment he entered, he shut the door and windows and then closed his eyes. He had no attributes, and that was sad, but when his mother died, he found out he'd inherited something from her; incredible hearing and eyesight.

Apart from being able to see very well, he developed a different way of seeing things, something that would make him valuable and at the same time, an enemy if people found out.

He would be tagged as an abomination, and a threat for having that ability.

He went towards the center of his room and sat down in a lotus position, he closed his eyes, then put all his focus on his ears and tried to feel his surroundings.

He sensed everything in his room, then slowly went out.

It was all silent, and as he went farther, he could hear the breathing of the guards he'd seen around, but then he heard something else and shifted his focus toward the floor.

Something moved, and as he focused, he realized it was just an insect.

He ignored it and went round the room till he started to hear the breathing of some more people as well, and when he focused on them, he found they were under the building. One was very distinct, and he figured it out immediately, the old man himself.

He found his target, so he decided to just stay and listen to them and figure out what was being discussed.

They were only three people there, including the old man. It was related to what he'd discovered the previous night, but this was much more detailed, and the more he heard about it, the more appalled and angrier he got.

He felt some fear as well and didn't know what exactly to do.

He had no power to do something to that old man, and could only sit back while the plans were set in motion.

He was listening in, but then he sensed something in his room and quickly opened his eyes to find a doll staring at him, it was two and a half feet tall and stared at him with life-like eyes though it wore nothing. it had large red eyes, blood-red lips, and long slender arms and legs made for quick movement and agility but had no genitalia.

He also noticed the slight bulges at its bust that could be breasts, its red hair, and its pointed chin which gave it a feminine appearance.

He stared at the naked doll and it cocked its head to the side at him.

He used his sight on it but sensed nothing from it. this ability of his was supposed to make him able to see one's attributes, level, and how dark one was at heart, but he saw nothing from this thing.

It was just a transparent aura and that scared him; the scariest things in the world are the unknowns we can never know about.

"W-what are-who are you?" he asked it, already feeling stupid for asking such a question. Dolls couldn't speak.

"What do you need from me?" He tried again but got no response.

It looked at him, then took a step toward him. Hordin panicked and jumped back, knocking on the door.

This drew the attention of a guard who came to the door to ask what was going on.

He replied it was nothing, but was sweating with fear. If this doll or puppet or whatever was here to kill him, then this would be too easy to accomplish.

The doll came closer to him again, but he shuffled back and found himself against the door, cornered. It came closer again, only a foot away from him and he had no idea what to do.

Just then, it disappeared and reappeared in a second, but then he saw pages on his table scattering into the air the moment it reappeared and it held a parchment in a little hand.

That scared him even more. Just how fast is it? He wondered. it placed the sheet before him, knelt down then started to move its fingers across the sheet. What was it doing now?

It moved faster and faster, and an image was starting to form.

The image looked like someone's face, but until it was complete, Hordin wouldn't be able to tell who the image was about.

It looked familiar and he wanted to get a closer look, but he still feared the doll. In a matter of seconds, the image was complete.

It picked up the sheet and quickly shoved it into Hordin's face. The strong scent of blood assaulted him as he looked at the image. It was no other person than the much hated old man he knew of. He also noticed the image was made using blood.

"wha-what is this?" He moved back, afraid of what this doll might do.

Blood didn't scare him, but something he couldn't understand scared him, and the doll was one thing he couldn't understand. It moved the sheet down and started drawing again.

When it lifted the sheet, it was the same person, but the image was made so it looked more like the head had been cut off and dripped with blood. the eyes were shut and blood flowed from them as well.

As Hordin looked at it, he started to lose focus of where he was. His mind could only see the image before him.

Breathing became difficult for him and his heart beat fast. He felt real fear as he looked at the image before him.

The doll had no aura but he could feel killing intent from it. This thing had been following him for a while now, he was sure of it. It was definitely the same thing he felt was watching him earlier in the garden.

It was true that he hated the old mn and wanted him dead, but that's what made him afraid of the doll.

It's task was to eliminate the old man and it seems it had some intelligence to find someone who's goals were aligned, but how did it find that he hated that man.

That was scarier than the image drawn. Suddenly Hordin smirked

"Do you want to work with me?" He asked

The doll nodded.
