Epilogue

(Year 500 A.D) On a world known to its inhabitants as Avaar, an unknown prince of the kingdom of Dawn was currently heading to a newly founded underground altar that demons dared build on his kingdom's land. This prince's name was Lucas Dawn, a man that his father cared little about, causing most citizens to be completely unaware of him. Lucas always knew the reason for this was because of the demon blood flowing through his veins. His father saw his existence as a sin and decided to send him off to the church's inquisitors to be trained to kill his own kind and other creatures of evil. In his mind, the only way for his son to work off the sin of his existence was to spend his entire life as a weapon for the church. Lucas did not care about what his father thought of him or wanted. He had his own ambitions.

He frequently thought of the day he would become powerful enough to usurp his father's throne. He has already started forming alliances with demons, most of the ones he "killed" in actuality; he merely beat near death while having them leave part of their demonic core with him as "proof" he completed his assignment. After he got their core, he would have them swear loyalty and allow them to escape as they awaited his word to commence the invasion of the kingdom. He longed to see his mother again, along with his older brother and younger sister. Unlike his father and his four younger brothers, who were disgusted by the very thought of his existence, his mother and sister treated him kindly and lovingly. He liked his older brother because he was not cruel and offered sympathy and support as a true brother should.

He was willing to do anything to make the day he saw them again come sooner, which was his true purpose today. He was to meet with a demon general known as Gaolun in human tongue. This general reached out to him through some demons he had defeated a time ago and made swear loyalty. Little did he know he was walking into a trap. Although Lucas always knew he was part demon, it was never explained how exactly he came to be. If he were to dare ask how he was a part-demon when both his parents were fully human, his father would go into a rage and beat him. Perhaps this was also one of the reasons he was sent away. How he came to be, was a subject that was absolutely forbidden, and for good reason, the truth was that he was the son of Artemis, the emperor of hell. Years ago, a holy war was caused by a demon invasion led by no other than Artemis. At first, the demons had caught the humans and the church off guard, even managing to cripple the holy city!

The tide quickly turned, though, as the demons lost their momentum and faced a ferocious counterattack by the enraged kingdoms and members of the church. Artemis foresaw his defeat and decided to leave a seed in the overworld. As a result, he possessed none other than Lucas's own father and slept with his wife. His hope was for this child to grow up and realize his true heritage and turn to the demons in the future to allow them to infiltrate the overworld before attempting another invasion. As a result, when Artemis left, and his father realized what happened, he was absolutely enraged. If not for the fact that he loved his wife very much and did not blame her, he would have killed her in an instant to keep this demonic child from being born. Artemis was already plotting for the future as he returned to hell, planning on watching his son and waiting for the perfect time to influence him and bring him to his side. Still, just as he had started planning, he was betrayed by his trusted generals as they blamed him for their failure.

He was shocked and enraged he was the most powerful being in hell. Who would dare take him on? His generals thought they had enough power among themselves to bring him down. Little did they know how wrong they were, although they did manage to cripple Artemis. In the end, it was at the cost of their collective lives. Thus, Artemis was forced to go into hibernation for years to recover from his injuries. As a few years went by, the denizens of hell eventually believed Artemis had long since died. As a result, war broke out, and eventually, the strongest rose above the others and became the new "emperor" of hell. The new emperor pledged to not make the same foolish mistakes as his predecessor and lead all demons to true glory. He then chose seven new generals. One of them was the previously mentioned Gaolun. He was an absolute ass kisser, and his fellow generals often gave him disgusted looks because of it. Still, none of them ever took action because they knew he was never to be underestimated.

Gaolun was scheming and had enough brute power to back up any schemes if they were to go wrong. Being the schemer he was, he eventually discovered Artemis's plan and the seed he left behind. In truth, he had long since been observing the boy Artemis left behind but never bothered to take action. Seeing the life the boy was living, he knew the boy would never be a threat. This is the exact reason he was so shocked when he found out the boy was recruiting demons to slowly build an army. He started to wonder if the boy had discovered something but eventually decided it did not matter since he was now a potential threat; he must be eliminated. That is all that truly mattered. Gaolun had one problem, even if he was still young, he was also the son of the true demon emperor; if he were to push him too far to the point of desperation, he may be able to kill Lucas but at the cost of his own life.

He would absolutely not allow this. Hence, he decided that he would instead seal him away for 1500 years and renew it when the seal came close to dispersing. Having come up with the plan, he started making the preparations, passing down the order for a demon that had been subdued to tell Lucas that he wanted to work together. He then set off to make preparations for his temporary ascent to the overworld. After using his resources to gather the necessary items for establishing a portal that would be open for five days, he carved the necessary formations and opened the portal, before stepping through and proceeding to the location he mentioned to prepare the altar he would use to seal Lucas. Lucas being blind to this proceeded to the underground altar fantasizing about the day he would see his beloved mother, little sister, and older brother.

If you are just discovering this story and think it may be something you will enjoy I suggest you add it to your collection and stop at the 2nd chapter as that is all that has been properly edited at this point and there will be continuity changes I go on editing the published chapters. As I make progress I will update this text. I aim to update at least one chapter a day but will be starting university soon so it may not be realistic.
