Rise of the Common Devil [DXD FanFic]

Finding himself, as a servant in a manor, wasn't how Ryuu was expecting to spend his twilight years. But as one would expect from a former mercenary he adapted quickly to his new surroundings. It wasn't until he found out the name of the family he now serves, that he understood just how unusual his situation really is. ------------------------------------- A/N: I claim nothing aside from my OC(MC). Chapter 19/Interlude 3

-During the time of Ryuus' ritual-

~Heaven, Seventh Heaven, Gods' throne~

"I miss you Father," said an extremely beautiful woman with curly blonde hair and a voluptuous figure having a lone tear running down her face. She had white wings protruding out of her back indicating she was an angel.

It was the seraph Gabriel, who eversince her creator and parent passed away, would visit this place to try and feel His warmth once more.

Everytime she would leave broken-hearted and disappointed, knowing he would never come back. As she was sitting on her fathers' throne she closed her eyes trying to reminisce about better days. Gabriel failed to realise the brewing activity due to her sadness.

Not that there was all that much happening, but still it was beyond anything angels had seen since Gods' death. It was as if some of the little gear inside a huge clocktower started coming to live and preparing for something bigger. It was a subtle shift and one wouldn't be able to recognise it without fully paying attention to it.

Once the preparations were done the system went from quiet and subtle to loud and rough shocking Gabriel to her very core. The amount of actions wasn't something she was used to and it filled her with many different emotions anxiety and happiness being the main two.

While Gabriel was staring at Gods' system with anticipation she failed to notice the arrival of her siblings. At first they too were spellbound by what was happening to the system but Michael quickly calmed himself and went to check on his beloved sister.

"Gabriel why are you here," he asked with a doting smile on his face. While he'd never be able to admit it openly, Gabriel was his favorite out of all the angels in heaven.

Hearing her brothers' voice made Gabriel stiffen. Like a child caught with their hands in the cookie jar she didn't dare to meet her brother eyes while muttering, "I miss Him."

Michael was deeply saddened when he heard her say that. After all he too felt sadness every day his father wasn't here to guide him and his siblings.

Gabriels' connection to him was different, it was special which is why she was left the most heart broken out of all the angels in heaven when her dear father departed. It was as if a piece of her heart went missing with the death of her beloved parent.

Why Michael was contemplating on how to help his sister, heavens' system was starting to glow. The glowing turned into a flash, stunning everyone here and blinding them.

Once they regained their vision the system returned to its former self, at least that what everyone was thinking.

When Michael went up to check upon it he realised a lot of bugs and errors were fixed. A few instructions of its proper usage were added and last but not least a small message was attached like a sticky note.

Not knowing how or why Michael was going to wait first before doing anything drastic like playing the message, but Gabriel was different. Depseration seemed to make her move and before anyone could stop her she pressed play.

A magic circle appeared and started setting a scene using light magic (A/N: a possible usage of light magic - visiual illusion). Then they saw something that shocked them to the core. Two shadowy figures were standing across from each other; one golden one, the other a dark grey.

It didn't take long for the angels to recognise the human shaped golden mist as their creator. As to who the other person was, they didn't know. Since there were no facial features to judge from they had no idea what was going on between those two shadows.

Gabriel was getting more and more anxious as time went on. Her father, the golden mist, was slowly but surely dissipating and nothing significant has happened just yet.

When half of the golden mist was gone and absored into the other "person" Gabriel was ready to attack despite the illusion. That was when the dark grey silhouette finally started speaking.

"Any last words for your children", he asked. His voice was distorted but one could hear the respect and slight sadness out of it. This made them stiffen up.

The golden silhouette seemed to contemplate just what to say. When his upper torso started to disappearing he finally said, "just tell them I love them. Tell them how much I regret placing such a heavy burden onto my children. Especially Gabriel and Michael."

While saying that his eyes seemed to pierce through the illusion and lock onto the angel siblings making the poor angels stiffen up even more than they did before. Their brains were currently circuiting as they were unable to understand what was happening, and more importantly how it was happening.

Giving his children one last glance he turned his disappearing head to the dark silhouette and said, "farewell my successesor" followed by another flash of light.

"No!" Gabriel let out a heartwrenching scream. God was gone, again. She couldn't handle the stress and lost consciousness due to grief. At least that's what Michael and his brothers, Uriel and Raphael thought.

In truth a part of the light that was emnating from the system entered and fused with Gabriels' energy reservers. Right now it was like a spark lingering in her reservers but given enough time it shall become a flame that guides not only her but also her siblings back onto the right path.

<Line break>

"Ugh," Gabriel was currently groaning on her bed. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw herself in her room. Looking around and making sure that she was all alone, she couldn't hold back her tears anymore.

She just couldn't hold it anymore, the lonliness, the sadness, the anger, the helplessness but most pronounced were her regrets. All the things she didn't get to tell her father. All the activities they didn't get to do together.

The worst for her was that her father would never be able to see the humans he loved so much grow to heights never thought possible.

----------------------------

God was always considered a lunatic when it come to the topic of humans. For him they represented the future, hopes and dreams, regardless of good or evil; an equilibrium sorely needed for the supernatural side of the world. When Gods' sacred gears first released many tried to steal them from humans and many were successesful in extracting them though killing them in the process.

But no matter what they tried, not even creation gods were able to get them to work. It was because of the "coding" God put into them. Sacred gears only work if you posses a natural human part. Artificially reproduction of human signals to use the gears never worked for some reason.

While Gabriel thought about all those things caught the slight warmth the spark inside her provided. The warmth embraced her and seemed to pat her back soothingly. Everything else became irrelevant right now.

Gabriel basked inside the warmth silently sobbing. She didn't have the energy to cry out loud anymore but the tears themselves just didn't want to stop. This continued until every last drop of energy left her body and she once again fell a sleep.

As she lay there, powerless she could've sworn she could see her father gently shaking his head as to admonish her behavior.
