Chapter 5: Falling Stars
Seraphina Everstride felt the pull of cosmic energy surrounding her as she tumbled through the rift between worlds. The sensation was exhilarating yet disorienting, like being caught in a whirlwind of stardust and magic. She closed her eyes briefly, bracing herself for impact as she hurtled towards an unknown destination.
Moments later, she landed with a soft thud on solid ground, her senses reeling from the abrupt transition. As she slowly regained her bearings, Seraphina realized that she was no longer in the familiar realm she had called home. Instead, she found herself in a bustling marketplace, surrounded by strange faces and exotic sights.
Shaking off the disorientation, Seraphina pushed herself upright, her eyes widening in surprise as she took in her surroundings. The air was thick with the scent of spices and incense, and colorful banners fluttered in the breeze above her head. It was a world unlike any she had ever seen, a place where magic and mystery thrived in equal measure.
But as Seraphina attempted to take a step forward, her foot caught on something, causing her to stumble and fall once more. With a gasp of surprise, she reached out to steady herself, her hand inadvertently tugging at the fabric of her skirt.
And in that moment, time seemed to slow to a crawl as Seraphina realized with growing horror that she was falling face-first towards the ground, her skirt riding up around her waist.
But before she could react, a pair of strong arms caught her around the waist, halting her descent and pulling her back to safety. Blinking in surprise, Seraphina looked up to see a young man with spiky silver hair gazing down at her with concern.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his voice tinged with worry.
Seraphina nodded mutely, her cheeks flushing crimson with embarrassment. "Y-Yes, thank you," she stammered, quickly pulling her skirt back down to cover her modesty.
The young man grinned, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "No need to thank me. I couldn't just stand by and watch a damsel in distress, now could I?"
Despite herself, Seraphina couldn't help but smile at his jest, her embarrassment fading as she took in the warmth and kindness in his eyes.
"I'm Alibaba Saluja," the young man introduced himself, offering her a hand up. "And you are?"
"Sera," she replied, accepting his hand with a grateful smile. "Just call me Sera."
Alibaba nodded, his grin widening. "Well then, Sera, welcome to the world of Magi."
As Sera took in her surroundings, a soft voice echoed in her mind, the familiar presence of the Worldwalker Cultivation System making itself known.
"Greetings, Sera," the voice said, its tone warm and reassuring. "Welcome to the world of Magi. Your main goal in this realm is to seek out a master in the art of star magic and learn under their tutelage. However, be warned that this journey will not be without its challenges. You will be required to undertake missions with punishments for failure, as well as daily tasks that must be completed without fail. Are you prepared to embark on this quest?"
Sera nodded, her heart filled with determination. "I am ready," she declared, her voice filled with resolve. "Lead me to my destiny."
