Accident

Calle observed the green slime that was still bouncing around the group of slimes, and now that one group was already obliterated only leaving a sizable crater behind, the green slime avoided the huge crater and only bounced over the two remaining groups of blue slimes.

The green slime might have looked just like a slightly hyperactive innocent slime that wasn't too different compared to the other slimes, but there's no way Calle would have forgotten how the green slime had flawlessly dodged all of his attacks that could easily deal with 4 groups of blue slimes and came out unscathed from them.

And now, Calle was trying to figure out more about the green slime to see whether there was anything else that he could understand more about the green slime that he could use to defeat it.

However, even after standing still for 5 minutes with Edric still flying around him, trying his best to not bother Calle after seeing Calle's serious expression, Calle still wasn't able to figure out a thing that he could exploit to deal with the green slime.

'I guess I can continue thinking this after I deal with the other slimes first,' Calle thought as he created a condensed mana blast on his hand.

"Edric, do you want to help me deal with the slimes at the back? It would be quite difficult for me to throw the mana blast away from here." Calle asked the little dragon that had been staying idle for the whole time.

"Sure, Calle!" Edric said, flying up near the ceilings of the cave before targeting a group of slimes at the back of the cave with a condensed mana blast from his mouth, which is something that he had also learned from Calle.

"Thank you."

Calle then threw his own condensed mana blast towards the group of slimes at the front, with the green slime still bouncing around them, and he purposely aimed the mana blast leaning slightly closer to the green slime, hoping that he would get a lucky hit if the mana blast was not aimed directly at the green slime.

But just like before, the green slime was able to sense the condensed mana blast coming near it, and quickly propelled itself to the side using its own green mana blast. Calle had expected it would happen so he didn't mind it too much and just focused on how Edric was doing with his target.

If Edric's mana blast before was as huge as half the size of his body, the current condensed mana blast that Edric had learned from Calle was only the size of a tennis ball, which was still bigger than Calle's, but that didn't mean that Edric was worse than Calle when it came to mana control.

The reason why Edric's mana blast was still bigger compared to Calle's even though he had condensed was that the amount of mana that Edric was able to gather and hold inside his mouth was much bigger compared to what Calle was capable of dealing with using his hand.

Calle could also match Edric's mana blast, but to do that, he would need to use both of his hands and do the charged mana blast.

It did take Edric slightly longer to gather the mana in his mouth, about two and a half seconds, but after he released the condensed mana blast, the two and a half seconds wait seems to be justifiable when seeing how much power was packed inside the mana blast.

The target was about 20 meters away and the cave that they were in was considerably larger than the cave tunnel before, so the sound that the mana blast created when it hit its target wasn't as huge as Calle's charged mana blast, but seeing the dust cloud that raised more than halfway up the 10 meters tall cave ceiling already speak enough of its power.

"Whew… He is really on another level with this mana thingy…" Calle muttered as he saw what Edric had done with his mana blast.

"Nice one Edric!" He shouted out loud towards the dragon that had already come flying back towards his position.

"Thanks, Calle. I decided to try something out after seeing you use your mana blast. And it turned out that I can fit much more mana in my mouth if I compress them more. You are amazing for coming up with this, Calle!"

"Don't forget that you're the one that taught me how to use mana in the first place, Edric. You are definitely not less amazing than me." Calle rubbed the little dragon's head.

"And now Edric, our next challenge will be this green slime. How should we deal with it?"

Calle genuinely asked the question since he still didn't find a surefire way to deal with the slime, but little did he expect that he would really get a simple yet effective way from Edric.

"Why don't we just throw our strongest attack at it together, Calle? If I remember correctly, you call this kind of strategy brute force your way in?" Edric tilted its head.

"Ah! You're right Edric! We haven't tried out that Method yet! If strategies don't work then we should just brute force it! Let's do it!"

Calle then returned to the stance of doing his charged mana blast, joining his two hands together while Edric flew a few meters above Calle before also gathering mana inside his mouth, this time going above and beyond, trying to compress the mana even more and fit more mana inside his mouth to make an even stronger charged mana blast.

This time, it took Edric about 3 whole seconds before he stopped adding more mana into his mouth since he had already reached his limit, and patiently waited for Calle to give him the command to release the attack.

On the other hand, it took Calle a second longer than Edric, and this time, he made sure he condensed the mana enough that he felt the mana ball in the middle of his hands was as hard as a rock and he couldn't squeeze them in together anymore.

'Hmm… maybe I could make it fly faster if I change the shape to a more aerodynamic shape…' Calle thought as he pressed the mana ball into a needle shape before taking a deep breath to ready himself.

"On 3!" Calle shouted.

"1!"

"2!"

But little did Calle and Edric realize that the moment there were no longer a single group of slimes remaining, the green slime had roamed around the cave tunnel, and it finally stumbled upon Calle inside its detection range which was about more than double the amount of an ordinary blue slime.

With its mana sense, the green slime was able to sense the abundance of mana Calle's charged mana blast had, but instead of running away, the green slime decided to go closer towards Calle's direction.

It was just trying to probe what its opponent was trying to do with the bundle of mana and it was confident that it could dodge again since it had already detected the source of the attack and it could react the moment it left Calle's hand.

However, the slime was suddenly alerted as it went closer towards Calle and sensed another source of mana a few meters above Calle's location and the amount of mana gathered was no less if not more than Calle's.

The sudden appearance of another dangerous amount of mana ticked the alarm in the green slime's instinct as it quickly made a life or death decision to use its mana blast to launch itself forward straight towards Calle's direction.

Calle didn't mind the slime bouncing about 10 meters away from him since he remembered the blue slimes were only able to sense his presence from 6 to 7 steps away, but if Calle had known that the green slime had already been aware of his presence, there's no way that he would have been calm enough to charge his mana blast slowly and steadily.

So when the green slime suddenly used its green mana blast to throw itself straight towards his face, Calle was more than just stunned as he completely froze for a split second, before realizing that the green slime was moving very fast straight towards him.

Calle then quickly released the charged mana blast forward, but with the power carried inside the charged mana blast being so great and with Calle wasn't fully ready to brace the impact due to the incoming slime, Calle wasn't able to take the recoil of the powerful attack properly as he staggered backward a few steps to regain his balance.

He saw a glimpse of the condensed mana needle flying straight through the green slime and boring a hole through a part of its body, but due to the mana needle being compressed so hard with each other, it didn't explode when it was met with the slime's squishy interior and just went past through it.

'CALLE WATCH OUT!' Calle suddenly heard Edric's voice. It was different from usual since he heard Edric's voice right inside his head just like when the system talked to him, but he didn't have the time to focus on that right now as he wondered what Edric meant by it.

He already saw the green slime coming toward him and he had already put up both of his hands in front of him to ward off the slime.

However, Calle didn't know what Edric meant by his warning was not because the green slime was flying toward Calle's face, but because his eyes, the dragon eyes trait, gave him the ability to see mana with his eyes.

And right now, Edric could see the green slime was gathering a lot of mana in front of its body, which was the side that was facing Calle.

Edric couldn't shout out loud due to his mouth being filled with condensed mana, and he was afraid that he would accidentally release it near Calle if he tried to talk. So the warning that was sent through the bond between them was the last thing that Edric did to warn Calle.

But Calle was still oblivious to it and when the green slime finally released the mana that it was gathering, it was already too late for Calle as he saw a green-colored wind blade launched from the green slime's body mid-air as it got closer towards him.

Calle braced for impact as he raised both of his hands to block the green wind blade.

However, the wind blade was also made from condensed mana and even the hardened skin trait couldn't get unscathed from it, resulting in both of Calle's hands almost being cut through entirely, only leaving half the bones and flesh remaining that kept his hands from being severed.

He was still able to keep his arms up since he still hadn't lost the connection with his arms, only his hands, but the sheer pain of having his hand almost severed with blood constantly gushing out of his arteries, even Calle wasn't able to tolerate that amount of pain as he hollered so loud his throat hurts, with his hands were dangling beside him.

But the green slime didn't care a single bit about Calle's suffering as it quickly attached itself to Calle's head. And with Calle's mouth opened up wide with his screaming, the slime was able to get its body inside Calle's mouth, melting Calle's insides that wasn't enhanced with the hardened skin trait with potent acid that could even melt his clothes.

It only took a few seconds for the slime to melt the insides of his mouth before seeping into his brain, melting his brain the moment the acid touched it.

And with that, the scream stopped, the anguish stopped, and so did Calle's mind come to a stop as he lay lifelessly on the ground.

"CALLEEEE!!!!" The little dragon couldn't hold onto its emotions anymore as it screamed out loud, sending the strongest ever condensed mana blast that it couldn't even control straight towards the green slime that was still nesting itself on top of Calle's head.

He didn't even know how much mana he had poured into the mana blast as his emotions surged from his heart and pushed an unthinkable amount of mana into his throat.

But Edric didn't stop there as he flew forward following the mana blast towards the green slime, his eyes locked onto the green blob as he would make sure with his life that the green slime would never come out of this alive as he created another condensed mana blast while he flew downward, ready to throw the condensed mana blast to make sure the slime was dead even if he has to shove his own head inside the slime's body to make sure the slime wasn't able to dodge anymore.

And the moment Edric's initial mana blast finally reached its target, not only a huge explosion that would have ruptured Calle's eardrums if he were standing next to it occurred, but a blinding light also came from the condensed mana blast as it covered the whole cave tunnel without leaving any nook and cranny behind, making sure that there's no way the slime would have any remains left after the mana blast destroyed its body.
