Local folklore says that whippoorwills carry away the souls of the dead, gathering in huge numbers around the houses of witches as they lie in their final agonies, eager to drag their spirits off to hell. The whippoorwill also has a dire reputation among the Garou, as some werewolves associate the birds with the Black Spiral Dancers, werewolves who serve the Wyrm. You follow the distinctive call into woods so thick that the sky is entirely hidden, then spot the little brown bird perched on a log.
Using Whippoorwill's Gift: Whippoorwill teaches the Song of the Moonpath, which allows for safe travel through dangerous physical or spiritual terrain.
Earning Whippoorwill's Gift: Whippoorwill only offers his Gift to wolf-born galliards. He's quite insistent on this: Garou born of humanity have mistreated his children by using them to call up the dead, and though he is courteous to you, he will not teach you.
It's interesting that Scarper knew a similar Gift, but he learned it from Goose. You've seen plenty of geese but no Goose around Broad Brook, so you're not sure you have any way to learn this Gift.
