At five minutes past three, I followed Hart to the airport. Our flight was thirty minutes past three. At first, I was a bit scared, but later, I decided to brace myself. "Come on Mira, you are an adult. " I said to myself. To me, going abroad was not something to celebrate. Unlike other people who got happy because they had to travel out of their country, I was not like that. To me, traveling abroad was a normal thing that anyone could do. I never used to think about the good things I would have to experience when I travel, but instead, I used to think about the risks, consequences and the bad things associated with it. I did not used to think of sweet experiences, making good memories. Why? Because I lost my favourite cousin. She was traveling to Madagascar, then we heard the plane she boarded crashed. Since that day, I had been acrophobic. Poor me!
"Good evening, may I see your passport please?" An immigration officer asked us. I showed him my passport and we set out to leave.
"Secretary Mira, how do you feel traveling out with me?" Hart asked me smiling like someone who just had to smile.
"Well, nice though. " I answered. There had been no one who did not have a dark past. Regardless of whatever past anyone would have had, there is always this unforgettable experience that they tried to fight. I believe that having a dark past defines me as human. Wild animals, even after been bitten or betrayed, take their revenge immediately, they had no time to think about their past or dwell on it. But, there was something I did not believe in — death. I could say that other people had died, but the fact that I would die was something I could not believe. To me, other people might die but I would not die. That was my mentality. Even after my favourite cousin's death, even though I was acrophobic, I was not scared of planes because it might crash, it was because it reminded me of her. At barely fifteen minutes towards six in the morning, we arrived at Farah, Afghanistan. It was really hot! I wondered what a rich Italian man would be doing in such a hot place. What business did he really have to do there?
"Now that we are here, you must be tired. Let's first go to an hotel. " He said.
"Hotel? I thought there was somewhere you have prepared for us to live. " I replied.
"No. Where else would we live apart from the hotel?"
"I can bet their hotel would not have good standards. " I was good in badmouthing countries.
"Don't underestimate them. They are worth more than we think. " He replied.
"So, sir. When are we going to meet Fazio?" I asked as I entered the cab which Hart had called to pick us up.
"I'm not sure. We shall see. "
"Don't tell me that you came here without a plan. I cannot last three weeks here. I'm used to fold environment. " I said.
"Of course. There is a plan. Do not worry. We will talk about that later. " He said as he closed his eyes.
"What kind of person travel without making appointments? I can not believe him sincerely. Even though he is hot, he is reckless. " I thought. "Are we sleeping in the same room? Oh my god! This won't be good. Or, is this fate? To bring us together. Wow! Karina is right after all. She should not be a lawyer but a shaman. Or are we meant to be together? Maybe God use Fazio to make us really date. " Several thoughts ran through my head, my brain cracked so hard that at last, I could not reach to any conclusion.
"We are here. " The cab driver said. We were both asleep. But, as soon as I heard that, I woke up immediately.
"Sir, we have arrived at the hotel. " I told Hart as we both got down out of the cab
Looking at the whole situation, I could vividly remember that the hotel was painted white and was name White Hotel. It was not that sophisticated, it was just like a normal duplex house. Anyone could build it. I began to research about Fazio's location but to my greatest surprise, it was faster than I could imagine.
"I found him — Fazio!"
