Friend or Foe

Ethan quickly pulled Sean and Fex back into the sports room and locked the door.

"What the hell, man?" Fex demanded. "Why did you hit that guy?"

Ethan hesitated, then decided to come clean. "Listen, guys. I don't know how to say this, but... there's been an outbreak. A virus. And it turns people into... into those things outside."

Sean and Fex stared at him, wide-eyed and incredulous. "You're kidding, right?" Sean said finally.

"I wish I was," Ethan replied. "Look, I know it sounds crazy, but you saw that guy. He was covered in blood. And those things outside... they're not human anymore. They're... they're monsters."

Fex shook his head. "That's impossible. How could something like that happen?"

"I don't know," Ethan lied. "But it's real. And we have to be ready."

Sean looked at Ethan skeptically. "Ready for what? You're talking like this is some kind of apocalypse."

Ethan nodded grimly. "That's exactly what it is. And we have to get out of here before it's too late."

The three of them began to gather whatever supplies they could find in the sports room - baseball bats, basketballs, a few first aid kits. They also raided the cafeteria for food and water. As they worked, they could hear the sound of the creatures outside growing louder and more frenzied.

"We can't just stay in here forever," Fex said finally. "We have to make a run for it if what you are saying is true'

Ethan nodded. "You're right. But we have to be careful. We can't let them get to us."

They made their way cautiously through the school, staying as quiet as possible and avoiding any sign of movement outside. But as they neared the main entrance, they heard a sound that made their blood run cold - a low, guttural moan, coming from somewhere just outside.

Ethan signaled for the others to stop, then peeked through a nearby window. What he saw made him freeze in horror - a hoard of zombies, clawing and scrabbling at the doors of the school, trying to break their way in.

"We have to go another way," he whispered urgently to his friends.

But it was too late. The zombies had caught seen them. They could hear them pounding on the doors, growing ever more insistent.

"We have to fight," Sean said grimly, brandishing his baseball bat.

Ethan nodded. It was the only choice they had. They opened the door and charged out, ready to face whatever horrors awaited them.

The three of them swung their makeshift weapons at the approaching zombies, smashing them in the head and trying to keep them at bay. It was a chaotic scene, with blood and screams and the stench of decay filling the air.

Ethan felt a surge of adrenaline as he fought off one zombie after another, but he also felt a sickening sense of despair. it reminded him of his last moments in his previous life

But then he saw something that made his heart skip a beat - a police car, parked at the curb just a few yards away. The doors were open, and he could see the flashing lights inside.

"Over there!" he shouted to his friends, pointing to the car. "We can use it to escape!"

They fought their way towards the car, knocking zombies aside and dodging their grasping hands. Finally, they reached the vehicle, and Ethan jumped into the driver's seat.

He fumbled for a moment with the keys, then managed to start the engine. The car lurched forward, slamming into a group of zombies and sending them sprawling.

"Drive, Ethan, drive!" Fex yelled from the backseat.

Ethan gunned the engine and swerved around another group of zombies, heading for the main road. As they sped away, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. They had survived, for now.

But as they drove through the deserted streets, he knew that their ordeal was far from over. The virus was spreading, and there was no telling how many more zombies they would encounter. They would have to be smart, and they would have to be quick, if they wanted to stay alive.

They drove for what felt like hours, avoiding abandoned cars and barricades of debris that had been hastily erected to keep out the undead. At one point, they had to plow through a group of zombies that had congregated in the middle of the road, their twisted bodies reaching out towards the car.

Ethan felt a shiver run down his spine as he heard the sickening thud of bodies hitting the car. He swerved around a particularly large zombie that had somehow managed to cling onto the hood, flinging it off and sending it tumbling to the ground.

"We need to find a safe place to rest," Sean said, his voice shaking slightly.

Ethan nodded in agreement. "We'll keep driving until we find somewhere safe."

Finally, they spotted a small gas station on the outskirts of town. It was boarded up, but they could see a generator humming in the back, providing power to the pumps. They pulled into the parking lot and cautiously stepped out of the car.

The air was thick with the smell of gasoline, but otherwise, the station seemed deserted. Ethan went to the door and tried the handle. It was locked, but he could see movement inside.

mff,

"Hey, is anyone in there?" he called out.

There was a moment of silence, then a gruff voice replied. "Who's asking?"
