Sam Wright POV
I'm an easy going man, enjoying life, avoid troublesome matters. If you ask me why I become police, I'll say because women tends to like man in uniform. Luckily I have an energetic partner with strong sense of justice, so I can let him handle troublesome matter to him. All being smooth like sailing in calm water until that case come. We receive dispatch call to investigate a mass murderer in a hotel room. What we have here is absolutely make my logical mind turn upside down. A murder in closed room with the suspect is a ghost! I'm can understand my partner frustration with the progress of investigation after that. Next day when we still figuring out how to investigate that mass murder case, the girl from last night case show up again. She's a beautiful girl but so spooky because she claims she can see spirit! Well if you want to scare boys that approaching you that might work, because I feel awkward when talk with her. She also mentions how much debt I have! I don't even tell my partner about it because he must scolding me if he know how I use the money for, how she knew it!
She comes to report a murder case, well, we homicide detective, of course, we must receive the report. But this report based on spiritual things, what a troublesome, so I let my partner handle her. He seems more capable to handle this kind of girl anyways hahaha. After he politely refuses to accept the girl report, he told me to call her doctor to pick her up, that's I can do for sure. After her doctor picks her up and left the police station, I thought the thing will calm again, but my thought was wrong. Her doctor called me and inform the girl gone missing, what the heck!
My partner seems upset hearing that, he drags me to his car to go to the place she went missing. In that place, we meet with Dr. Sullivan again. He stands near an empty car, and from the car, there's track like someone being dragged from the car into the woods. We follow the track and find a man try to kill the girl. My partner looks angry, he dashed to him and send a punch that makes that man fall. Wow, I never see him so angry that can knock a grown up man down in one punch. After that, I let him take care the girl, he more suitable to do that, I just checking the body that wrapped in a blanket. When I open the blanket I found her body already cold and rigid, indicating she had died for sometimes. There's a rope mark in her white neck, seem she die because strangled. Poor woman, she chooses a wrong man to be with. I don't know what happens when that man stands up and try to attack my partner, but suddenly he looks pale and frightened like seeing a ghost. He drops his shovel and crawling ask for help to my partner and confessing what he had done. Now we have body and confession, that's enough to arrest him. I told my partner that the victim is here so he cuffs the murderer and brings him out from the woods.
When we leave the woods, reinforcement and ambulance already arrive there. The forensic team starts to check the killer car, some of them go to the victim body with paramedic carrying a stretcher. The culprit was taken to the station by other police cars, Dr. Sullivan also excused to back to his hospital. Other officers were busy with the crime scene, left three of us, me, my partner, and the mysterious girl alone. He sat at the back of an ambulance, holding a cup of water, seems my partner give her to make her calm. Her face looks sad, maybe my partner scolding her for doing something reckless. Ah, my guess is right
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Just my dress gets dirty"
"That's alright, it's just a hospital gown anyways, and more important is, why you do such reckless action? Do you know you almost die there?" that's Rick said.
"I… I feel sorry for her. She is so pitiful. She'll be buried in the woods alone, nobody will search her, and nobody will remember her. She … she just like me, nobody remembers me, nobody searching me. I'm afraid at the end I'll be forgotten … that's why I want to help her ….." and tears start flowing from her eyes.
Oh man, Rick! How could you make a girl cry? I don't care if you think I'm meddlesome but I must console her.
"What are you talking about silly girl? You know he comes here in rush just to save you. That's because he worried about you. And you should not feel alone, you have me and him here. We are your friends"
My words seem effective since she stops from crying and smiling, what a charming smile. Wait! Why are my partners blushing like that seeing her smile? Don't tell me he …..
"Thank you," she said something, but why she stares to other direction? She is thanking who? Aargghh!! this is getting creepy.
