Either the days here or longer or my mind is playing tricks on me. Counting the seconds while cleaning the blood around the house, I could feel the seconds ticking by me. After a few days after waking up the Pokemon outside had finished all the bodies and started to raid the houses. I could hear and feel the next-door neighbors' houses being torn apart by the super-sized rats or other Pokemon. Judging from the sounds of flesh being ripped apart some of the Forest Pokemon have come into town seeking the smell of blood.
I could hear the names of different Pokemon being yelled out as roots skewered the Rattata. After looking out of the windows I saw Bellsprout, Odish, and other Grass Pokemon moving in small groups taking out Rattata. Judging by the attacks the Grass types have been using Vine Whip, and Razor Leaves to corral the Rattata before launching waves of Leech Seeds. Watching the Leech Seeds piercing the bloodied bodies of the Rat Pokemon while draining them dry. Within minutes all of the Rattata were nothing but mummified husks piled up surrounded by various Grass Pokemon.
The first attempted break-in almost ended with me losing my life. A few times I had to scare off some of the Rattata who had tried to enter my house even after I threw out the body of the woman. An excited Rattata barreled through the broken door pushing over the chair I had slipped under the door handle.
It took a few steps into the house before spotting me when it did hunger passed through its beady black eyes. It reminded me of watching a man in the desert finding water. When it spotted me it jumped at me yelling out its name I did the only thing my childish body could do... flail around like a jackass. It had jumped over my head as I tripped backward on nothing.
As it slammed into the wall behind me I grabbed the nearest weapon the cleaning bucket. Rearing back tossing the contents onto the screaming Rattata. It released a strangled cry and started clawing at its face taking chunks of skin off. It rolled around on the floor knocking over what little intact furniture was left intact from the attack.
Moving as quickly as I could I grabbed a kitchen knife gripping it as if my life depended on it because it did. Stalking up to the shuddering Rattata letting out high-pitched screeches as it continued to try and clean off the mix of household chemical powders out of its eyes and nose.
It started to rub its face onto the floor dragging it across the wooden planks. I moved my arms back slamming down and putting my body weight down onto the knife as it pierced its neck. Watching the knife burry down halfway down the blade before snapping in half leaving a trail of blood gushing out of its neck. Before I could blink I was sailing across the room before roughly landing on my back and rolling ass over my shoulder into the wall after catching a kick from the Rattata.
Slamming onto the wall by the wide open door my vision doubled as I watched two Rattata digging at the knives sticking out of their necks. Sitting up I clutched my sides as I gasped for breath. My head throbbed as I felt the side of my head reaching up I touched the wet side of my head bringing my blood-covered hand in front of me.
Shakely getting up on my feet I wiped off my hand on a dish rag that had landed by the door.
Watching the life fading out of the eyes of the Pokemon. After a few seconds of holding my breath, I sagged back letting out a ragged breath. Closing my eyes pressing my thumb and index finger onto the bridge of my nose.
Prodding the bruising I had appearing on my ribs didn't fill me with hope. Poking it a few more times sucking in through my teeth and biting back a whimper I shook my head looking over at the dead Pokemon. Before I remembered something my uncle told me when hunting dangerous game. 'If you're not sure it's dead... it ain't.'
Looking around grabbing something heavy I found a cast iron pan. Rearing back tossing it at the Rattata's face watching it land with a satisfying thud. With no movement from the now-confirmed Pokemon, my shoulders slumped in relief.
Taking stock of my situation I grit my teeth limping over to the open door and closing it softly. Hobbling over to the kitchen table I had to grit my teeth in pain as I shoved it inch by agonizing inch until it was flush against the door. Wincing as the legs scrapped across the floor sending dinner bells out into the wilds outside of my 'safe' haven.
Looking back over at the dead Pokemon a stray thought slipped into my mind 'Can I eat it?' Looking back over at the broken kitchen knife I shook my head going over how though the skin would be too removed if stabbing it broke a knife no matter how cheap it was.
Limping over to the Hiking bags I had stuffed into my room. Rooting through the bags I gripped the camping and cooking supplies grabbing the leather sheath with a large buck knife. Thinking for a few seconds I let out a huff remembering how tough the skin was I tied the knife to my hip.
Going through all of the bags looking for the medical supplies I remembered I only found a few bottles filled with potions, and different medicines like a few burn, ice, and a few antidotes if the labels were to be believed.
After dressing my wounds I grabbed the First Aid kit and started dressing the wound on my head. Read the labels took the medicine labeled Oran berry extract for swelling and put some Lum berry paste on my head before using the sterile bandages over the gash in my head.
After double-checking the medicine I searched the rest of the bag finding plenty of more meds along with several weeks worth of rations, but no water. If I had to guess each team of soldiers had with them a water Pokemon for their water needs. The rest was some Survival items Like tents, cooking supplies, a few skinning knives, and waterproof coats. There were even some orders for the feather-flagged troops inside the bags.
From the orders, all of the people had died there even the one who assaulted the woman who I could assume was this body's mother or family. Going over the map I couldn't find this town was not even on many maps because there were only twenty people in total.
Judging from their reports they were more than enthusiastic to 'go wild' in the countryside. The Kanto soldiers the only ones I had found and had looted were the only protection this town had to offer and he was on guard duty here only two 'Ace' Trainers whatever that means. But they did have some interesting books here comparing them to my memories of the Anime was enlightening.
Pokemon here compared to the Anime was like night and day. Here Pokemon were savage animals with more intelligence than most six-year-old children but when they were caught with 'Apricot Balls' they started to become more intelligent than most twelve years old's. The captured Psychic types were considered a national 'asset' due to their rarity and multi-use purposes including spreading information and teleportation abilities.
These Pokemon were smarter than the rest. From the bags, I got a few more reports and orders from the two different bags. The one with the Snowflake was from Kanto, and the feather flags were from Johto. The Johto soldiers had orders to go wild in the less protected areas of Kanto do as much damage as possible and cause havoc when they could.
Judging by the journal I found in one of the backpacks of the Johto soldier this was one of the dozens of similar groups causing damage when they can not be limited to burning forests, demolishing bridges, and killing all 'able-bodied Kanto Citizens and taking or killing all of the 'stronger' Pokemon. Stronger as it was relative it was open season on poaching all the Evolved Pokemon here.
From the notes taken from his point of view most soldiers become 'Ace' from having one or two evolved Pokemon. From the reports, the war had practically ground to a halt between the two with no large-scale battles only smaller attacks from both sides. He talked about his Pokemon and how he got them.
The Swinub he was given is a four-foot-tall mash of fur that can use ice attacks and pure physical strength. Later on, in the blood-covered journey he got it to evolve into a Piloswine which was probably the same Mammoth that I saw dead in the building next to mine. The second evolved form of the Mammoth was fucking massive... fuck the sizes of the Pokemon. Shaking the thoughts out of my head I go back to reading.
The tactics he wrote about was one person is the designated flyer with the size described in the journal it wouldn't be a surprise given the Ferrow grew to the size of medium-sized planes back on earth. They hit a town had fun and left. In this town, the group had been taken out this group they didn't expect anything to go wrong. The Kanto Soldier had surprised them and taken them out in a 3v1 battle. I would guess the flier was taken out quickly here. Closing the book finding no information on the Pokemon that the Apricot balls contained.
Grabbing the Apricot balls I found One black, and three white that was sealed from the notes I found no clues besides that it meant that they had Pokemon inside of them. The black ball was a Heavy Apricot ball that had a Pokemon that was over four tons in size. The three white was the equivalent of a regular Pokeball. Each trainer had at least one of the balls with a Pokemon on them so I had three Johto Pokemon and one Kanto Pokemon. Or some of the common Pokemon you could find within the forest like Beedrill or any Bug/ Grass Pokemon.
Shaking the stupid fucking decision I know I am going to have to eventually make I started packing up everything I would need into my FUBAR bag which I placed by the window in my bathroom that started to smell worse after repeat use. Pulling up my shirt I looked back down at my bruised ribs giving the tender flesh a few exploratory pokes. Sitting on my last good chair Fiddling with the four Apricot balls.
Grabbing the black 'heavy' ball ruling out the need to use it right now as four tons on wooden floors do not mix well Placing the ball in a slot on the looted belt on my hip. Grabbing the last three balls and placing them in an empty bag before giving it a shake. Reaching in before slumping back against the chair closing my eyes removing my hand and placing the bag on top of the table.
Looking over at the rat I figured it would be a good offering to whatever came out of them or at least give me time to run as it might or might not attack me if I wasn't its Trainer.
Putting the thought of releasing the Pokemon out of the balls in the back of my mind for now. I figured out that they couldn't leave the balls on their own, unlike what I saw in some of the Anime. Letting out a wet chuckle as I imagined letting out the Pokemon and a Carnivorous 'mon coming out finishing me off with little effort.
Huffing as I started to come up with a game plan for what to do next rubbing my ribs and head as they started to ache more as the day wore on. The Meds I had taken earlier didn't magically cure the wounds but the pain had subsided greatly compared to earlier.
Where would I go if I even somehow 'tame' the Pokemon I have a good chance of it being a multi-regional Pokemon a Weedle, or any other Pokemon that seemed to be everywhere? Or knowing my recent luck it would be a fucking Johto starter and the Kanto Soldiers would spot it and assume I was a Johto child Soldier here causing havoc and be killed on the spot.
Closing my eyes again shoving down the intrusive and overreacting thoughts that came up the longer I thought on the subject of just summoning a Pokemon inside of the balls... I need to choose soon or I will end up saying 'fuck it' and tossing the Black Apricot ball out the window hoping the massive Pokemon goes on a rampage giving me a chance to run away.
It is a viable strategy if I come across a sticky situation or more Johto Soldiers showed up here when this group doesn't meet up with the others. I had the date of the meet-up and the location, but I didn't even know what today was or where I even am. Thinking it over it was dumb for the Diary writer to put down the location and date of the meet-up in his easily accessible Diary.
Either way, I only had a few days worth of water and with the encroaching Pokemon I needed to make a move soon. Putting the white Apricot balls into the slots on my hip I started hobbling into my bedroom and dropping off my FUBAR bag by the standing wardrobe. I entered my standing wardrobe grabbed my blankets and covered up for the chilly nights. Closing my eyes I started to drift off into a light sleep keeping my ears open for the nocturnal Pokemon looking for an easy meal.
A/N: So for those wondering FUBAR is Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. Hope you enjoyed my Pokemon story. Thanks for reading.
