Samara-Kairuku Coalition Army Arrives

After finally deciding on playing a battle of attrition against the Samara-Kairuku coalition army, Helena immediately started ordering the soldiers around.

Meanwhile, Blanc was currently in the great hall looking at the map to see if he missed any details about the landscape around Fort Shadowsong and Blasridge City.

He then realized that there was a shallow part of the river located in the western part of the Samara Kingdom.

"Tch!"

Blanc was annoyed, he didn't like this feeling of uncertainty. He knew that King Samara might order some of his men to cross this shallow part and directly attack Blasridge City.

If Blasridge City falls, then they would be forced to let go of Fort Shadowsong and fall back to the Stormy Swamp.

He couldn't help but stand up from his chair and pace back and forth due to his dilemma.

Should he station Alexander in Blasridge City to defend against a possibly nonexistent attack? Or should he simply put the possible attack to the back of his head?

After a few minutes, Blanc decided to focus on the battle in front of him. He didn't want Fort Shadowsong to fall simply because he was acting all paranoid.

In addition to this, he didn't have the time to order Alexander to leave right now since the Samara-Kairuku Coalition Army is now visibly marching on the horizon.

*KNOCK* *KNOCK*

As expected, a few moments later, somebody knocked on the door of the great hall to report to him that the enemy had arrived.

Blanc dismissed the messenger and headed towards the walls to take a look at the invading coalition army.

Upon arriving at the walls, he saw that Helena and Alexander were already there waiting for him to arrive while the other battalion commanders had already assumed their battle positions alongside their battalions.

"What's the situation?"

Blanc asked Helena and Alexander.

"Reporting to the king! As expected, there were around 35,000 invaders and reportedly a total of five Swordmasters!"

Blanc's eyes narrowed after hearing that there were only five Swordmasters.

He finds it a bit hard to believe that the Samara Kingdom only sent two Swordmasters when the reports said that there were three Swordmasters who ganged up on the Lockridge Royal Family's Grand Marshal to take him down.

"I see, send one of our top scouts to watch the river on the west of Blasridge City. If he spots any kind of movement, immediately report back to me!"

"Roger!"

Alexander temporarily left the walls to order one of his trusted men to scout out the river area in Blasridge City.

Meanwhile, the coalition army is slowly getting closer and closer. After a few more hours, around noon time, they arrived right in front of Fort Shadowsong.

As per the usual protocols, each side sent out a messenger to try and "negotiate" although there's no way that peace can be negotiated in this situation.

"Dogs from the Rougenfort Kingdom! How dare you build a fort right in front of my King Samara's territory?! Let go of the fort right now or we shall take it by force!"

The messenger from the coalition army said in a loud voice.

Rougenfort Kingdom's messenger simply snorted at the arrogant remarks of the enemy messenger and said

"Ha! Go back to your King! We know that you guys would extend your filthy paws towards our kingdom sooner or later and that's why we built this fort! We won't let go of the fort even if you got on all fours and begged like a dog so wake up from your delusions!"

The messenger then turned around and returned to the fort. Unexpectedly, an arrow came flying at Blanc's messenger!

"Despicable!"

Fortunately, just as the messenger was about to be struck by the arrow, an arrow from Fort Shadowsong's walls struck the enemy's arrow causing it to narrowly miss the messenger.

Rougenfort Kingdom's messenger broke out in a cold sweat and hurriedly urged his horse to return inside the fort lest he gets attacked again.

The act of killing the enemy's messenger has been frowned upon ever since ancient times and doing so reflects the enemy king's personality.

As expected, King Samara seems to be rotten to the core.

Blanc stared furiously at the coalition army as he muttered to himself

"You despicable bastards want to play it this way? Alright then."

He temporarily stopped paying attention to the infuriating coalition army as he turned to face his men.

"Men! As you all saw, these bastards tried to kill our messenger on the battlefield which is a sign that their king isn't a good person at all."

"If we let these men extend their filthy paws towards our family and friends, they would surely suffer. Stand with me! We shall repel these greedy bastards and send them back to where they came from!"

Blanc's men erupted in cheers and their morale surged. With their king fighting alongside them to protect their homeland, what is there to fear?
