The words felt distant, hardly believable. If her mother had been revered by the church, she would have seen the priest a few times at least. But except for a few visits to the church, her family had never shown any interest in the dealings of the church or she had not seen churchmen caring about their family.
She had not been closer to the royal family either. Why would her mother come all the way here to sit beneath a tree?
And whispers? She did not believe that a tree could whisper words. Yet, when she looked at his face and the dimness of his eyes, she was sure her mother was close to him, perhaps closer than she was to her mother.
"I believe that she was a goddess herself. That was why i was sure when she told me that she would never you alone.'' The smile he gave was full of regret and her heart clenched further. It felt like there was something she knew yet at the same time she did not.
