Feeling the warmth of Derek's arms was just what I needed.
I felt safe again.
I didn't understand how he could recover so quickly from the coma, but I was grateful for it. I hugged him for a few minutes. I didn't care that we were being watched. I didn't even care that Stefan was downstairs, staring at us.
When Derek and I parted, I noticed tears in his eyes.
"Stefan told me yesterday that you weren't doing well. I didn't know you were here until this morning. I had to ask my doctor to find out something about you because they told me I couldn't see you. I never imagined you would be here."
