(ch13) Plans and getting to the bus

It was quiet in the faculty room. Everyone needed to digest everything that has happened and the things Anthony said. Rei went over to the tv and after seeing what was on it she couldn't help but cover her mouth and say, "oh my god." This got everyone's attention and after seeing what she was looking at Saeko grabbed the tv remote and turned up the volume.  

 A attractive reporter with red hair tied up in a messy bun and wearing a peach colored suit appeared on the screen. She was reporting live from what looks like some kind of park with police and emergency workers there. The woman begins talking, "It's been feared that over 10,000 have been victimized in the Saitama area so far. The governor has already declared…" the reporter was abruptly interrupted as gun shots could be heard. Then the camera pans over to show body's that were declared dead and wrapped up begin to rise. The police start firing into them as the reporter continued, "declared a state of emergency and has asked for the disaster relief...is a gunshot. Their finally using firearms. From what I can see thier…" the reporters voice then turns fearful, "No…NO…NOOOO…NO AHHH!!!" The reporters screams could be heard as the camera falls over then goes to static.

The screen then cut to the station where another girl reporter, wearing a yellow blouse, was sitting behind a desk and was given some papers. "There appears to be a problem with our remote. From now on we'll bring you the story from inside the studio. The condition outside seems extremely chaotic so stay home unless it's absolutely necessary to go outside. We'll bring you more from the source when it's safe to cover the current situation from the site." The reporter said before filling in on what the rest of the world is doing during all the panic. World leaders being evacuated and even talk about using nukes. That reminded Anthony about the nuke that set off an EMP. His gloves should be fine because the arc reactor produces its own field blocking from traditional EMPs, but the stuff in his backpack, he will have to find a way to protect it. 

Saya then addressed the group, "it looks like the government doesn't have a handle on this situation and I don't think it will get better anytime soon. We need a plan of action." She looked to the whole group but mostly to Anthony for input. 

Anthony then decided to speak, "well my plan is to first get out of this school, then find a safe location that's easily defendable as a base, and also look for supplies along the way. I haven't planned anything after that but for now those are the basic needs I feel are most important." 

 Rei cuts in after Anthony, "what about our family's?" 

Anthony thought on it then said, "we can find time to look for family and loved ones but I think our first priority should be our own safety and survival." He then looked for anyone else's input. 

After a bit of silence Saya remarked, "that's probly about as good of a plan as we'll get. How are we going to get out of the school?" 

Just then Shizuka, who has been rummaging in her purse, exclaimed in excitement as she held up a set of keys, "I found my car keys!" 

Saeko then asked, "will your car be able to fit all of us Ms. Marikawa?" 

Shizuka looked a little dejected as she lowered her arm and looked at her keys in thought. "Now that I think about it I don't think my little bug is quite big enough." 

Saeko then suggested, "what about the micro bus the clubs use for their away games." 

Kohta then adds while looking out the window, "I see the bus outside." 

Shizuka turned to everyone then asked, "that's fine but where are we going exactly." To her question everyone turned to Anthony to hear what he had to say. 

Seeing everyone looking at him, Anthony thought while speaking, "well, after leaving the school I would suggest we make our way to a residential area and find a temporary base so we can have a safer place to further strategize our next move." 

Saeko raised an eyebrow, "why not try and get to the other side of the river?" 

Anthony just shook his head then explained, "Now isn't the time to try and cross the river. What do you think everyone els is doing? They're trying the same thing and that's just going to cause a whole lot of problems with that many people congested in one area." 

Rei then asked with some fear in her voice, "w-what do you mean." 

Anthony told her bluntly, "all those people will attract all the zombies to their location. Sure they may be fine for a while but after so long there will be more zombies than they can handle, making people panic and when people panic that's when people make stupid decisions and die." 

Everyone was quiet after that till they heard something jingle off to the side. Everyone looked over quickly and saw it was Kohta, who froze from everyone looking at him, with a set of keys. Then nervously he said as he pointed to the keys with one hand, "I-I found the keys to the bus." Everyone continued looking at him making Kohta nervous. 

Snorting in amusement at the comic relief moment Anthony broke the silence, "good job Kohta. Give the keys to Shizuka, I assume she will be the one driving." Kohta smiles at the acknowledgment then nods his head while handing the keys to Shizuka. "Alright, I think we all rested enough and sitting here isn't going to get us out any faster, so I suggest we gather what we need and start heading out." To that everyone nodded with determined faces and started gathering all the supplies they would need. 

After leaving the faculty room they started to make their way to the parking lot where the bus was located. After taking out the zombies nearby they all heard a scream not too far off. Running over to a stairwell they could see two guys defending two girls from a few zombies that were hobbling towards them. Without hesitation Kohta shot his nail gun, killing a zombie, then Saeko jumped from the railing and struck hard swinging her kendo sword, killing another one. Anthony then came running down along with Rei as they both killed one each. 

Saving the group and checking to make sure they weren't bitten, they all started making their way again. Reaching the end of the main staircase right before the exit, they were met with a bunch of zombies occupying the floor leaving no room around them. 

Saya then said irritably, "what are we waiting for? They can't see anything." 

Saeko then quips, "I don't suppose you want to go down and test your theory?" To that Saya just sent a glare right at Saeko. 

Anthony just sighed, 'I guess I'm going to take Takashis place right now.' He thought as he stood up and began walking down. 

Rei grabbed his arm and asked frantically, "what are you doing?"  

Anthony just shrugged, "I'm going to git rid of them so that we can pass. Don't worry I'm not going to fight them." And without giving anyone a chance to say anything els he walked down. 

Making it to the first floor there were zombies all around. Anthony maneuvered himself around them, making sure he didn't make a sound, till he was standing over a shoe someone left behind. Grabbing the shoe he threw it far down the hall making a loud noise in the distance, leading the zombies away. 

Once the zombies were cleared the group then started making their way down. As Anthony held the door open he thought, 'I think I'm forgetting something.' After Anthony had that thought the last boy from the other group accidentally hit his weapon against the railing, causing a loud noise to echo out.  'Fuck' Anthony thought as he then told everyone to move it. 

Running out the building the group was met with a horde of zombies coming at them. Anthony waisted no time in started to shoot them with his repulser blasts. The group tried to stick together as much as possible but along the way one of the boys from the other group was caught and started being eaten. This cause one of the girls, presumably his girlfriend, to run back to him to die as well. 

After so long they finally made it to the bus and Anthony helped Shizuka get on and told her to start the bus and get it ready. Kohta got into the bus opening up a window and started to shoot from there. Rei jumped on as well as  the girl and boy from the other group and as Anthony was helping Saya on the bus he could hear yelling from behind him. "WAIT DONT LEAVE WITHOUT US!!" Turning around he could see another group frantically running towards them. 

The group had a skinny teacher in a blue suit with glasses and a bunch of students. But there was one student that caught Anthony's attention. 'What's Takashi doing with that slimy teacher?' Anthony thought to himself.
