Face-off With The Bandits

As soon as the horse carts left Seldis, the scenery changed greatly. The road they were traveling was surrounded by big trees. Gojo took a long breath he felt a great sense of freedom.

Along with Gojo and Grisella travelling in the cart was a third adventurer named Sid Wildflower. He hailed from Latom, a town near to the provincial capital of Geradin. He was grade D adventurer.

This world had adventurers divided into different Grades according to their abilities and achievements. They were graded in the order :

E>D>C>B>A>S

The adventureres various grades took part in different types of adventures based on their abilities and training.

" So have you slain any monster before ?" asked Sid.

" We have slain plenty of monsters ranging from horned rabbits to wild boars. " said Grisella.

" I see, so will you enroll as an adventurer in the adventurers guild at Bardin ?" Sid asked.

" We will decide once we reach there. " replied Gojo.

As they were going the cart before them came to a halt. The three looked forward to see two able bodied men standing beside the road. Their bodies were covered with scars and their clothes were torn.

" Alright, we will keep it short. Hand over your money and stuff. If you don't comply then you'll face the consequences. " said one of the men.

" Ah, bandits, they are so annoying. You two stay inside, I will deal with them. " Sid said and looked back. But both Gojo and Grisella were gone.

Gojo nonchalantly walked in front of the bandits and said " Ah, can you please move aside and let us go, as you see we are in a hurry. "

" Hahaha! listen to this brat, does he think we will get scared. Stand back brat or we will kill you. " said the other bandit.

" Nah, you won't be able to do that. You see I am pretty strong. So you won't hurt me. " replied Gojo.

" This brat, let me teach him a lesson. " said the bandit as he pulled out a dagger and ran at Gojo.

He tried to slash him with the dagger, but Gojo was fast to dodge them. He then grabbed the arm holding the dagger and punched the weilder on his stomach. The bandit fell on the ground unconscious.

The other bandit also tried to slash Gojo with his sword and met the same fate. After the defeat of the bandits the journey resumed.

" That was cool !" said Sid " you should join the join the adventurers guild. I feel like you would have a lot of success adventuring. "

" Well, we will see about that. " Gojo replied.

Soon, they reached Bardin. With a population a little over nine hundred the town was bigger than Seldis. A lot of merchants had gathered in this town. The cart stopped and they got out.

This time Gojo was greeted by a fairly tall man with nice clothes. It was Eric Flavel.

" Thank you, you for accompanying me in my journey. This is the payment for protecting the carts and defeating the bandits. " said Mr Eric as he handed two copper coins each to the three of them.

This world had a unique monetary system. It had several types of coins with different values : small copper coin, large copper coin, small silver coin, large silver coin, small gold coin and large gold coin. The hierarchy is represented in ascending order.

After receiving their payment Sid took them to them to the adventurers guild. It was the first guild experienced by Gojo and Grisella. There were a large number of adventurers flocking there and from various races.

Gojo had heard about the different races that existed in this world from Isabel. There was the human race the most common race. Apart from humans there existed elves, dwarves, beastmen, demons, fairies and dragons who could be further sub divided into many categories.

" What's your name ?" asked the lady receptionist of the guild.

" Gojo Satoru " replied Gojo

Grisella tried to say something but stopped midway. She had no idea how Gojo got that name.

They registered to the guild as E rank adventurers and went to look at the board where many quests had been put up. Eric Flavel would be staying in Bardin for two days so that won't be a problem.

Gojo and Grisella decided to take on a herb gathering quest. Their job was to go to the Meadow of Tulips nearby and gather a small amount of emerald green tulips. Emerald green tulips were often used in medicine.

They set out for their first adventure as adventurers.
