Reincarnation of a Failed Author: I Hate Clichés

"I hate clichés," I mutter under my breath, frustration etching lines on my face as I stare at yet another overused plot blowing up on the website of the novel I'm publishing. It's a constant cycle of disappointment for me, with no viewers, no readers, and certainly no feedback. In other words, I'm a failed author, stuck in a rut of uninspired storytelling. I can't quite recall when my disdain for cliché tropes first took root, but one thing is for certain— I found myself reincarnated into another world after an unfortunate encounter with a truck. Typical, right? I die in a cliché manner and end up in a whole new reality. "Damn it, I had to go and die in a cliché way too!" I grumble, shaking my head at the irony of it all. But this time, I have a new name, a new body, and even magical powers to boot. I'm now known as Helis, and this is my chance at a fresh start. After hearing the name of the world I had reincarnated into, Crisyes, I realized it was the world of the novel I had only written the concept about. It seems I've been thrust into the world that is on its last living decades. The details elude me, but I'm certain of one thing—this world is on a collision course with chaos. What I didn't anticipate, however, were the lingering threads of my previous life, the invisible connections that bind me to Earth. These mysterious [Story] strings will come back to haunt me, weaving a web of uncertainty and challenges that I'll have to navigate sooner or later. I may despise clichés, but little did I know that I would become entangled in a story far beyond my control. It's a tale where my past and present collide, and only time will reveal the true extent of its consequences. ------Notice------ THE STORY WILL TAKE TIME TO BUILD! Yes, it will start as a normal reincarnation story with cliché elements and cringe events, but the energy will shift at the last chapter of the first volume. The story will focus more on the development of the characters and world-building, not just, "Wow, found a golden cup which I'll drink from and become immortal." No, I will make it as realistic as possible, especially the characters. Oh, and the mc has a knack to trigger cliché events, that's one of the reasons he hates them. If you care about horny chapters, they do happen but later on when the time is right. That's it here, please support me through this journey, and most importantly: Enjoy!

Tournament of the Strongest, VI

Helis Roadgray POV:

Sean's dark blue hair wavered about as he stood over Chris, "This is my win." He voiced with a coldness I had never heard coming from him before.

Is that even Sean?

The adrenaline rush must've gotten to him, the jump over the spike just earlier was quite a feat he managed to reach by reacting at such speed.

Talking about feats, this guy just used a Transcendental Spell.

A higher form of fire spells.

A transcendent form of burning flames.

It was a blue flame that could burn one to ashes in less than a minute, this flame doesn't go away unless the caster wants it to.

"But how?" I questioned out loud as Sean dealt the finishing blow, knocking the guy unconscious.

"What did we just see today?! Wasn't Sean supposed to be one of the worst students in casting spells?" The commentator yelled.

Yes, I get it now.

Being a Peculiar-Potential, he had trouble controlling his own powers and that's why he couldn't even cast properly.

But now, with proper guidance set upon him, he has managed to bring forth his capabilities to the max, managing to cast a Transcendental Spell within three months of training.

"So you are a prodigy, huh?" I voiced as an exasperated breath escaped my lips.

Sean faced me from the arena, making a fist bump from where he was standing.

I returned the gesture and flashed a proud grin at his achievement, which soon made my expression turn sour after he slumped to the ground.

"Sigh, using a spell of such caliber and controlling it to that point, you've really overdone it. It's the obvious outcome." I muttered as I left the stands, making my way towards the resting room where we also visited Luke yesterday.

"I really seem to have a connection with this room." I voiced, annoyed at the hospital-like scent.

"Now, I shall wait until he wakes up…" I trailed off as I rested on some stairs, Selica and Luke also seated themselves on each side.

This has become our seating order it seems.

"Sean was quite amazing…" Luke began to talk, "I don't know how he managed to hurl such a refined fire spell at Chris's absolute shield to decimate it like that."

"I know right? Sean's improvement rates seem to be through the roof, don't they?"

"That's true." Luke smiled.

During their small chatter, I stayed quiet. I began to think about what will we do from now on and in the future.

After seeing our battle, the knights of the kingdom are sure to notify their higher-ups there.

I know that they will turn the ground upside down to try and get hold of us, to get me and him under their control so we don't pose any danger to the future of the city, country, hell even the world.

But they don't know.

They don't know that this planet is already fated to be destructed.

That every second is a tick towards the bomb that may cause the death of everyone here.

And I, as the author, have decided to take the role and become everyone's salvation in this world.

No one knows me yet.

And I doubt they will do so in the future.

But I surely know that I don't want this place to disappear.

I don't want my father, mother, and my brother to die. So is the same for Selica, Sean, Luke, and the rest of my classmates.

I already love this world.

I already have affection set in stone upon this place.

Love and affection that I will put my life on the line to protect for.

"..lis–"

"Hm?"

"Are you even listening?" Selica asked, looking me dead in the eyes. Her round sapphire temples shone even if the vicinity of this room was darkened.

I really love her eyes and that face she makes when she asks something.

She unconsciously raises her brows and puffs her cheeks a little whenever she's posing a question or asking for something.

And I can't help but find it disastrously cute and adorable.

"What?" I asked, "I'm sorry, I was lost in thought."

"Sigh," She shook her head as if saying, "What am I going to do with you?" She then talked, "I don't have the leisure to stay until Sean wakes up, my match is beginning in ten minutes."

"Ah, okay." I nodded, suddenly feeling all melancholic from the previous train of depressive thoughts, "I'll be there to cheer you on, okay?"

"Yeah."

The girl looked at me with an innocent smile. As she stood up, she crossed her arms behind her hips and leaned forward toward me, "Make sure to watch me carefully." She winked.

I grinned, "I will definitely do so." I made a fist and wavered it in the air, cheering for her already.

"Well then, I'll go and get ready now." She turned around and walked down the corridor, keeping her hands crossed behind the whole time.

She got out of our field of view and Luke broke the awkward silence by wording something preposterous, "You really like Selica, don't you?"

"Bwah?!" I whipped my head towards him, "How dare thou state such indisputable falsity?" I questioned with squinting eyes.

"Chill with the unique words, composer, and don't avoid giving me an answer," Luke said flatly.

"What do you even mean by, "Avoid giving you an answer?" I asked indignantly.

"You like her, and that's the truth. It's painfully obvious to both I and Sean."

"Yeah, yeah, shut up."

"She also seems to feel the same about you. The way her eyes soften when she looks at you is alone to prove that."

"Quit it, man." I said with a soft voice, "I don't want to be together with her."

"Why?"

"I don't want to endanger her well-being."

"Then why not be powerful enough to ensure her safety?"

"Having loved ones makes you weak."

"How about we do it like this," Luke stretched out his index finger.

***

"If Selica comes out victorious of that match, you'll confess to her!"

Those words rang in my mind as I saw Selica's skewered stomach with her intestines spilling out.

And I couldn't do anything to save her.

Erm... tune in next chapter!
