The Assignment

Seth was woken up by an alarming sound in his room. The lazy lad has refused to wake up from his deep yet sweet slumber.

Raising his head towards the direction of the ringing sound, Seth cursed inwardly:

'What the hell is that? I'm just about to strangle the Demon God! Why didn't you just let me finish with the battle? You..."

[8:43 am, Orientation has begun since 8:00 am].

"What?!" Seth yelled.

The alarming sound was coming from the wall clock above the shelf. It was 8:43 pm already, and Seth wondered how foolish he was, staying in his dreams with a fight against the Demon God.

This meant that the alarm had been ringing for almost an hour... The most astonishing part was that the orientation was already ongoing at the Academy's main hall.

Realizing this, Seth quickly stood up from the bed. However, the silly chap also noticed the way he had changed postures in his sleep. He laid upside-down before sleeping last night and now, Seth couldn't believe waking up at the extreme edge of the bed, almost falling to the tiled floor.

Seth walked towards the bathroom and quickly washed his face, he didn't remember to brush his teeth before hastily coming out. Since he didn't pull off all his academy attire before sleeping last night, he only had to wear back his shirt and shoes. However, that never changed the fact that it was going to take some of his time.

After dressing properly, Seth dashed out of his room with a fast momentum. He was running really fast after noticing how deserted the motel has gone. Of course, every newborn should be at the Academy's main hall.

Maybe the lift was too slow, Seth followed the stairs instead. He didn't take much time, and he was already at the bottom floor, stunning the securities in the area.

Regardless of the curses and mumblings, Seth continued his race towards the hall, insisting not to spare time to rest.

He lifted his left arm, placing his gaze on his Type-4 wristwatch:

"9:22 am?"

Seth shrieked: "I'm not sure I'm going to make it. Darn it!"

After his utterance, he tried to calm himself, extracting the thought that might plague his mind. And fortunately, Seth was able to meet up with the seminar.

But it seems the Dean was done with his speech, making Seth extremely disappointed. Actually, he was disappointed with no other person but himself.

At the moment, Seth had no other consideration in his mind than to clench his fist, kick the air, and turn back to return to his room. But who knows that an unfamiliar voice was going to summon his return?

"Hey! Get back here," a male voice yelled from the rear, causing Seth to halt his movement instantly.

Seth froze, his eyes narrowing slowly. Turning back to the direction of the voice, Seth got a glimpse of a middle-aged man, dressed in the Grey Dragon Clan's cultural attire with a 3-star batch on his shirt's pocket.

It was the Dean.

The man had pale skin and grey-like hair with a rough yet broad face. His giant physique and strong aura were something that wouldn't be difficult to notice. However, Seth only had to mount pities on the Dean when he noticed his disability to walk excellently.

'I created you like that because I know you would mess things up later on Moon Day. I'm sorry Master Joth,' Seth thought inwardly, putting on an innocent look.

"Where do you think you're going? The orientation is ongoing in the hall," Master Jothan said, grimacing.

Seth kept quiet, biting his fingers with his canine.

"I'm talking to you boy!" the Dean yelled.

This time, Seth felt a chill run down his spine. Seeing the outrageous look on the face of the Dean, he expected a huge punch if he didn't respond to the question.

"I—I forgot my jotter back in my room, so I want to go get it," Seth lied. Actually, the jotter was inside his storage ring.

"Oh, I see! You clown, how could you forget your jotter in your room! This simply means that you would forget to take your sword with you when going to the Menace Isle, right?"

"N—"

"Shut the hell up!" Master Jothan interrupted.

"I—"

"I said shut your freaking mouth!" he interrupted again. This time, his fist almost slammed Seth's cheek — thanks to the diving figure that he was.

'This bitch son is crazy!" Seth thought.

"You should be in the hall right now, so you have to ignore your jotter for now. You can use your smart brain as a jotter, I think that would be okay for you," the Dean said with a fake yet furious smile.

Seth only nodded positively and walked towards the hall, putting on a disappointed face.

'That's the fool, he is the Creator by Writing,' the Dean thought, glaring behind Seth's walking ass, 'no matter how you try hiding your past, I'll get you in any way I can.'

After cussing for some moment, the Dean turned to face the direction of the official building and walked forward, crossing his arms at his backside.

Seth entered the hall, with a hint of shame written all over his face. He walked slowly, finding a place to sit until he found one. But Seth wouldn't have prayed to sit close to someone like... The daughter of the Supreme Lord-ranked individual.

Seth grew more angry, adding to the anger he had gotten from the humiliation of the Dean.

However, he knew he had no choice. There was only one place vacant to sit in the whole hall, and it was the chair posing close to the rich lass of the Blue Whale Clan.

Noticing this, Seth had no choice but to sit close to her — ignoring anything concerning her presence would do.

As he sat on the chair, Seth wasn't able to blend with what was happening at the moment, but after some time, another stage of the orientation began. Maybe this wouldn't be considered an orientation... As the Combat Chief, Master Pilgrim stepped forward to the stage, he cleared his throat, and spoke loud:

"Hello Newborns, this would be the last section of the orientation, and It's all about an assignment."

Seth's attention got drawn entirely at that moment.

"There would be an assignment from tomorrow till the last day before the Moon Comings. Every one of you will wield a sword with your bare hands. That would be the killing weapon to the Unicorn you might slay."
