" Here's your license, Mr.Red."
The worker at the counter, a young woman with a cute smile, gave Adam his Hunter license back after the latter returned from clearing the A-ranked dungeon.
He brought back some loot with him, which he sold since he needed some loose change.
Starting from A-Rank, hunters' earnings skyrocket.
Not only are monsters's corpses more valuable, but the items that may be found within some of them can go for even millions.
As if his Luck stat was there just for show, Adam had never found any valuable item.
And this time wasn't any different.
But, since he was about to hang out with some colleagues, he opted to sell a few corpses to carry some cash with him.
This may seem unnecessary provided that he was rich and all, but knowing Louis, the chances of the meeting taking place in a cash-only establishment were highly likely.
Adam would always pay via online transactions, but he needed some physical change.
Since he already had expensive corpses lying around, he might as well save time instead of reaching out to a cash dispenser.
' I'm also curious about the amount these few corpses can go for...'
" As for the deposit, since the carcasses were in a good state and the internal organs barely damaged, the total will be 54,500 dollars after taxes. Would you like to have it transferred to your bank account or collect the money yourself?"
Adam was a bit taken aback by the amount.
These were just a few corpses he randomly picked up in a hurry, and they cost more than 50K?
This opened Adam's eyes to a whole new world.
'I thought real money could only be obtained from items and artifacts. How foolish of me.'
From now on he would sell everything he killed.
He may be rich, but everything he had came from his deceased parents' legacy. If he could contribute to increasing this fortune even further, why wouldn't he?
" Give me 2k in cash, you can transfer the rest to my bank account."
The young woman got to work, and before 5 minutes passed, she returned with an envelope containing 2000 dollars and a document showing the transferred money that remained.
" Until the next time, Mr.Red."
With a wave of his hand, Adam left the establishment.
*Ring!Ring!*
Along the way, his phone rang.
" Sup Louis."
" Dude, where are you?! If you don't hurry this psycho woman is gonna make me explode! And not in a nice type of way!"
" I believe 'psychic' is the right term, though."
" I know what I meant!!"
Adam deadpanned at the overdramatic venting of his friend.
" I don't even know where the meet-up is at…"
" Shit! I forgot to send you the location. I'll do so right now-"
Before he could finish his sentence, a man's voice interrupted him.
" Hey! Are you constipated or something!? I work in the kitchen and could hear you screaming. Need any help!?"
"*Pfff*"
Adam couldn't help but giggle at the turn of events. It seemed like Louis had hidden himself in the bathroom of the cafe they would meet at to call him.
Someone heard him yelling and probably misinterpreted the situation as Louis having some difficulties releasing an ugly dump.
" N-no I'm ok, sir! *whisper* I sent the location already. Just hurry… please…*whisper*"
With that, Adam hung up the call.
' Poor Louis. I gotta do something about Fubuki.'
...…
'He is taking too long.'
Beside the table where a group of young adults were sitting, a green-haired beauty could be found, pondering absentmindedly.
Her arms were crossed as she kept tapping her right index finger against her left arm.
One would notice she was both annoyed and excited.
"Fubuki, take it easy, would you?"
Next to her, sitting in a similar fashion, her friend called out. A beautiful woman who exuded a high-class aura.
Her physique and age, as if mismatched on purpose by the universe, made her a walking dilemma.
'A young girl in a MILF's body', would be a fitting description.
" You are going to scare him away if you keep approaching him like this."
Fubuki side glanced at her friend, her serious frown contorting slightly.
" Momo, you won't get it. That rabbit bitch has an advantage over me. If I don't go all out, I'm going to lose."
Momo Yaoyorozu, just looked at her friend tiredly.
" You know, you could always just share."
To that, Fubuki's hair started levitating, the air around her becoming heavy.
" Never."
Momo shivered from looking at her friend. The emotionless tone behind her voice, the shine in her eyes…
This was a side of Fubuki that Momo wasn't accustomed to seeing.
' Scary !!'
Not even when they hunted monsters together would she look this intimidating...
While the two friends continued their conversation, a few meters away from the two, a group of seven sat relatively close to each other.
" Should we check on Louis? He might be sick for real."
A beautiful blonde girl with voluptuous assets said worriedly.
" Nah, he's just taking a big dump. A very biiiiig dump… maybe."
" Aye, Aye! A biiiiig dump!!"
She turned to her right, eyeing the pink-haired guy with a winged cat resting on his head.
'This guy!'
" Sush! Natsu, I'll stop inviting you to my school meetings if you keep misbehaving! And Happy, don't encourage him!"
Natsu's dumb smile morphed into a terrified expression after hearing the threat.
'No free food?'
'Hell nah!'
" I will behave, ma'am."
" Aye! Behave ma'am!"
Lucy, the blonde girl, could only shake her head.
"*Sigh* At least Gray is behaving well, you could learn one or two things from -"
But just as she turned to her left, she almost had a heart attack.
" Gray! Your Clothes!"
" Uh?"
The black-haired man, Gray, looked down confusingly, only to realize that his clothes were lying on the floor next to him.
" Shit! When did I take them off!?"
Facing them, the group of girls and one boy couldn't help but giggle at the unfolding show.
" You sure have it hard, Lucy."
A blonde, whose right eye was slightly covered by a bang of hair, said with apparent mirth. She was enjoying herself.
" You can't imagine, Ino. I have to deal with this every day."
Hearing this, the pink-haired girl sitting next to Ino joined the conversation.
" At least they are strong enough to have around. Cut them some slack."
The quiet girl to the far left nodded her head at that, her colorless eyes staring at Happy in wonder.
" So… Can we order already ?"
Hearing her friend's question, the Celestial Spirit Magician looked at Natsu with a murderous glare.
" Not yet, we have to wait for Louis and his friend."
Natsu deflated in his seat but stopped bothering his guildmate for the time being.
" This friend you're referring to is Adam, right?"
Everyone on the table suddenly turned to the boy at the far right.
" Do you know him, Shikamaru?"
Ino asked, her eyes shining in curiosity.
Although Adam was well known in their university, every person currently present was a freshman, except for Fubuki and Louis that is.
Since Adam had taken a long break from school they had only heard rumors about him.
Fubuki at the side stopped talking to Momo and directed her focus to their conversation instead.
" I've only seen him once. He's pretty tall and strong-looking for a civilian. Imagine my surprise when I found out he was unawakened."
Fubuki was about to intervene to clarify that this was not the case anymore. She felt obligated to do so.
Yet, before she could, the door of the cafe was gently opened.
*Ding!*
The bell rang and that caught the attention of everyone at the table. Even Fubuki and Momo who were sitting at the side of the group were not an exception.
*FOOOSH!*
The air became denser than adamantium, or at least it felt like that.
They expected a person to enter the establishment but all they could see was the silhouette of a being they couldn't describe.
"It" was bathed in shadows.
Space seemed to bend by its mere presence.
They couldn't move an inch; the mere thought never crossed their minds as that would be as useful as drying oneself with a wet towel.
But it all lasted one second.
One hell of an excruciating second.
" If I were you, I would update the database where you got that info from. I'm a Hunter, you know?"
""""""!!!!""""""
Instinctively, they all stood up.
The aura had vanished, but the suffocating remains of that overpowering feeling still lingered around them.
His presence was simply too overwhelming. Even Fubuki, who recognized the voice behind the perpetrator, found herself in a defensive stance.
" Why y'all looking at me like that?"
A second later, the heaviness in the room disappeared completely, the remains included.

The 2nd chapter will come in a few minutes.
I've been busy, but I can't go without updating for so long.
These two chaps are very chill and may not be as entertaining as the previous ones, but I really wanted to introduce more characters to the FF.
Feel free to point out any spelling mistakes you may spot or give me ideas/suggestions to improve your experience as a reader of this story.
I have a hard time coming up with ideas lately as well as keeping up with the story. That's what happens when you don't write consistently, something that sadly, I cannot afford to do. I hope that you can understand.
As always, I hope you are having a great day.
