Lost

The two of us began heading home like we always do, Mel had assignments to finish up and promised she would be over later with dinner when she was done. We made a detour to the market district on our way home in order to browse the trinkets they had on sale. Kana tried on bracelets and necklaces, hats and glasses as we went from stall to stall. The smoke cleared from the east side of town but looking towards the sky I noticed that all of the flying beasts were nowhere to be seen. Instead streaks of what looked like men and women riding on swords flew through the air in v formations, heading roughly east, the same direction from where the smoke was rising before.

It wasn't long till a few people noticed the growing number of sword riders and tension rose in the air, we decided that staying in the market today was probably not the greatest idea so we started to head home.

Half way there a loud "Dong, dong, dong" started coming from the east and as the seconds went by more and more towers started to ring their bells as well until the whole city echoed with the ominous sound. It was only after we heard a death cry from a women nearby did everyone start to react. Looking over at a large wolf we saw it begin tearing into a woman's throat, as I watched a man on a flying sword swooped in and struck the wolf. The beast went flying and crashed through a near by building, the rubble started shaking at the beast jumped out seemingly unharmed and growling low and very pissed.

Lana was frozen stiff and I urged her to move, it didn't take much and she started running at a dead sprint following the crowd of terrified people. Howls and screams could be heard everywhere, explosions sounded and swords striking metal echoed in the air. From somewhere in the crowd a hand reached out, grabbing Kana and holding her mouth so she couldn't scream. He was holding a wet rag to her face. I bit the man's arm tearing off a good chunk of flesh before I was back handed so hard I flew off like a bullet.

I struck a wall and passed right through it. Pain shot through my back and chest and I could feel that I might have broken a few ribs. I wheezed as I climbed out of the ruble just in time to watch the man fly off with an unconscious Kana draped over his shoulder. A beast leapt at the man as he took off but just like with me he back handed the poor creaturr sending it flying into a crowd of passerby. Screams could be heard as the unfortunate were crushed, and the screams only got louder when the beast decided they were the better prey.

I only had time to make out the emblem loosly strapped onto the mans sleeve before he rose above the buildings. I recognized it immediately. That royal bastards family crest hung from the kidnappers shirt. I took off at a sprint after the man who started to fly east and towards the dense monster population. Without thinking I let my aura loose and my paws were covered in a thin sheen of ice, I found my self skating along the roads more than running them but it helped me move faster so I didn't care. My only concern at the moment was Kana who was slowly getting farther away. I watched them leave the city over the walls and lost them when I was forced to make a detour.

Unperturbed I continued running, towards the crowds of people and through the open gates now lined with men and women wielding all sorts of weapons as well as elemental magics. A large monster of a man stood in my way as I leapt from head to head towards the exit. I thought I saw the man in question far into the distance, there were hundreds of flying swordsman in the air but that one was the only one flying straight through the air across the battle field ignoring the beasts entirely.

I dashed into the beasts, my small body releasing a thick killing intent as I looked at the man in the distance, the beasts closest to me took a step back as I ran at them and slid under their feet, various creatures moved to let me pass scared of my killing intent. I left a trail of ice in my wake and I looked like a small blur easily lost in the crowd of monsters. I was forced to dodge often as the swordsmen in the sky saw my elemental display and saw me as a larger target.

I however was solely focused on remaining on course, the man was now far from my view but doubting he planned on changing course as he hasn't done so already, I maintained my speed eyeing the last place I saw them. The swordsmen missed time and time again but eventually stopped when they noticed my lack of retaliation and seeing me heading away from the city they focused there efforts on the other beasts.

I ran for hours keeping my eyes on my surroundings, looking for anything, a camp, building, a sword, or Kana. Any indication that someone passed through this way, eventually the man would have to land somewhere and I was determined to find out where.

After seven hours of travel and passing over open plains, small forests, and being forced to temporarily freeze a path through a lake I finally found something worth investigating. A small pillar of smoke could be seen coming from the a small grouping of trees just ahead of me, I hesitantly approached and looked in from the bushes. My breath heavy and leaving a trail of frozen footprints behind made it hard to remain unnoticed. I managed to calm my breathing down but I was too worked up to suppress my aura.

I saw a small camp of people, a few were cooking some meat over a small fire. One sat against a wooden wagon with cages in them various creatures were caged and in one of them was Kana but something was off about her. I knew from a glance that it was her because our connection flared as I looked at her, but she had two fluffy ears on the top of her head and a tail was sticking from her back. "What in the hell did that do to her" I snuck closer to the camp and caught some of the men's conversation.

"How much do you think the new one Max brought in would be worth. If I had known the royal brat wanted us to kidnapping a Demi-human I would have charged him extra. We were lucky he caught her before her bloodlines kicked in."

The man next to him had cloth wrapped tightly around his arm and chest as blood slowly seeped into the cloth dying red. "Tell me about it man, that b*tch suddenly woke up and started tearing into me. Fuck it hurts" the other man chuckled. "It's not funny, she literally ate a piece of my fucking arm man. DAMN It she fucking tried to eat me"

The other man stopped laughing and looked sympathetically at the other man. "Look I'm sure the boss will let you have a good share, you could use that money to get an Alchemist to whip you up a cure and boom you'll be good as new"

The other man spat "Those damned Alchemists charge way to much for there services, I'd be lucky to even have them look at me let alone sell me a body regrowth potion" the other man nodded and they went silent.

I made my way around the camp towards Lana's cage, her clothes were ripped to shreds with just enough to cover her important bits, she other wise looked unharmed. Blood covered what was left of her clothes but I wasn't sure if it was her blood of they guy she bit. The cuts looked like they were made from swords or axes but there was no injuries on her body. "At least she isn't hurt" I said to myself. Stalking up to the man resting his back on the wagon I leapt up and bit into his neck, I breathed down his throat freezing his lungs and keeping him from making a sound to alert his allies. He struggled but I just increased the ice in his body and I froze the inside of his chest, stopping his heart.

I dragged the man under the wagon and looked for another target, I only saw three men an I also saw a tent. I chose to take a look at the tent, I didn't want someone showing up at a bad time. Looking inside I saw a very large man who almost looked like a bear with how large and hairy he was. I felt a sense of dread when looking at the man and decided that fighting him could only lead to death and backed out and went back to the camp fire. One of them was gone, looking her I could see him taking a leak in the bushes near by. He was distracted however as he stared at Kana's half naked body. That pissed me off and I decided to save that guy for last, I ran out of the tent towards the man by the cook fire.

He turned around at the sound of the tent flaps moving only to have the same fate of the man by the carriage. I dragged him into the wood and I waited for the other guy to look back at the camp. I was already waiting and leaped onto his neck, however I didn't bite his neck out and only froze his lungs enough to keep him from speaking, his eyes were wide at my attack and he held his neck. I fell to the ground and a took my claws and raked them through the mans lower extremities. He dropped to the ground screaming with out sound as he lost a valuable asset, with tears in his eyes I dragged him to the camp fire where I held him down in the flames. When he stopped moving I let him go.

I spat on him and went to Kana, I froze the lock and it popped open. I dragged her out and had her laying over my back as I made my way of of the camp.

It was slow going because I was so small, I had the strength to easily carry Kana but I lacked the body size to do it effectively, especially when she was unconscious. After four hours the sun started to set and I propped her up on a large tree, I lost all sense of direction and forgot the direction I was heading wen I left the city. We were lost, Kana was unconscious and I was all we had. I settled in to keep on eye out for trouble as Kana rested. It wasn't until the third day that Kana finally awoke, by this time I had to fend of several mana beast ambushes and I was feeling weak after not allowing myself to sleep until Lana was safe "If I fall asleep Kana could get hurt and I won't be there to save her, I can not rest until I find a safe spot to protect her" seeing Kana wake up finally allowed me to relax and I slumped to the ground. I only had enough time to her Kana's voice before I fell into a deep sleep against my will. "Where am I"
